    • @NaptownClassic
      @NaptownClassic 14 днів тому +4

      @@florinnatu You should be able to tell from the initial quotation marks being at the bottom, that English is not this person's first language.
      Additionally, this was not speech, but the written word.
      I am willing to bet you don't speak or write their language anywhere near as competently as they've written English.
      Come on dude, let us be civil and not assume our own superiority.

    • @florinnatu
      @florinnatu 13 днів тому

      @@NaptownClassic english is not my first language either but whatever language we speak or learn, we should promote correct writing, take our time and learn it well.
      It's really not about superiority, but about me trying to raise awareness on the distruction of words and languages. You don't need to be an Einstein to see what is happening around us, with the laziness for learning, reading and writing. We will end up with a 5th-hand-slang english language, so to say.
      Btw, reading the persons name, I assume his country of origin is either Belgium or the Netherlands and all germanic languages are much closer to english (being a germanic one too) as my native one, romanian, not to mention my second one, hungarian, which is a whole other language group.
      And I say this not just out of a linguistic point of view, I was lucky enough to learn german as well and to speak it like a native, so I experienced all these differences. That's the point here- I didn.t want to show my superiority, as there is nothing to show and I have been, as you would have guessed by reading so far, around many people, countries and languages and very tolerant.
      But I'am also kind of a romantic, tradition-loving guy, wanting to preserve that what is still good, "end not raiting es it cams tu mai hed" just because you can read it and understand it anyway, you know? Or as lazy people massacre the english language with throwing everything in one pot and don't respect any rule or value. Language is the mirror of the (micro-)society one lives in, and we clearly see all what I stated above to be true for any other part of the society too, don't we?
      Hope you get my point now and if you are a native english speaker, YOU were the better person to defend it, as I'am sure this text of mine is full of mistakes too, but I would take your critique as a learning opportunity, not as you trying to be superior in any way. Cheers!

      PS: Was du scheinbar nicht verstanden hast ist, dass die Kritik dorthin gezielt war, dass man etwas schreibt was zwar gleich klingt wie das Wort was man meint, aber etwas ganz anderes bedeutet... und dass diese Vorgehensweise leider Überhand nimmt, nicht nur im Englischen... und dass, wenn wir nicht aufpassen, wir es riskieren, dass alle unsere Sprachen in kürzester Zeit verunstaltet werden, bis wir gar nichts mehr verstehen, nicht wahr?
      Natürlich versteht man es. Trotzdem kommt mir hier die sprichwörtliche deutsche Rigorosität ein wenig kurz, die ich als Ausländer habe fühlen müssen und die ich aber dann verinnerlicht und zu meinem Vorteil gemacht habe.
      Natürlich würde man es verstehen, wenn ich schreiben würde: "Er ist leida gestorbeen und mann war traurig da rüber, das die familie ihm nicht seen durfte weil er sofort beehrdigt wurde", aber wäre das deutsch?
      Die wirkliche Frage dabei ist: würdest du mich korrigieren oder nicht, wenn du so etwas lesen würdest? Ich bin sehr gespannt auf deine Antwort.

      In an earlier scene, when Aldo says she can get him and his guys into the premiere, she mentions that the wound on her leg will raise eyebrows. Aldo casually mentions that she can say she hurt it when climbing mountains because “y’all Germans love climbing mountains, don’t you?”

      @@stormtraitor6545 It woulndt have matter anyway because Hans wanted to eliminate Von Hammersmark (If the shoe fits her foot) whether she comes up with a perfect excuse or not. She is the only threat to him, to his plan and to the deal he was about to make with the Alliance. Part of the deal is that no one should ever know that Hans Landa was a Nazi. And the actress is the only one that knows about his existence, outside of the british and US army. He is a a calculator, a psycho. He's not even truthful to his own people.

    As a native German speaker, I can’t emphasize enough how crazy the stark contrast between Diane Krugers nonverbal acting (which is excellent and on point) and her verbal acting is, which is so pathetic it’s borderline layman theater group tier. :-D She spent so many years in foreign countries that her ability to act in the German language is completely kaput. If you’re American it gets lost in translation but if you’re German you can’t believe they kept the takes with her slurs and incredibly weak deliveries.

      Always these condescending wise guys on UA-cam who didn’t even get the movie, she’s supposed to be a GERMAN actress in this film that defected to the British, hence Tarantino‘s casting choice of Diane Kruger who’s a native GERMAN actress in real life. What you also didn’t get is the meta of my comment, I was amused about the fact that Kruger completely lost her ability to act credibly in her own mother tongue cause she spent so many years in foreign countries, I wasn’t talking about accents or something like that, her acting in the scenes where she speaks English is alright, read comments more carefully, watch movies more carefully, kid.
