you sounded really passionate about this whole monetization conversation (understandably so) and it was very entertaining to watch and to listen to, thanks for the videos as always! you're doing great with the "um" thing as well keep it up
Its great that you can introspect into what you feel are your shortcoming. Nobody is born knowing, and we always learn something we can improve on. You are one of my favorite CCs and I enjoy supporting Marshie on twitch and youtube, so its great to know that there is a possibility that you find joy in trying different methods of doing what you like (even if its not streaming). Great job at the introspection, hopefully you enjoy this potato perfectly preserved in resin 🥔
I started watching you because for Wild streamers we have very few options lol, but stayed because I liked your vibe. Nowadays, Roffle and Dane rarely touch Wild now, they mostly play Standard, so I think as of this millisecond, you are the most successful active Wild Hearstone Streamer that speaks English, congrats!
I fell somewhere in the middle and was not able to whale-out and stopped playing. You and Roffle got me back in free to play and I’ve been enjoying it much more.
Marshie casually solving the world's problems while also playing one of the banger half hour Kazakusan Druid games of all time in the background. This is why we follow (and why we thank pugpls7 for sponsoring the broadcast)
Regarding the long monetisation conversation: I think a system that would reward veteran players & help new players is a subscription based access while keeping eg the dust/gold system. E.g. you pay X€/month to get access to every card in the game, but you can still gather cards through packs etc to build you own collection. That way you have the f2p choice, an easy way to try out as much as you like, and get rewarded by playing actively with the eventual point of not having to pay the subscription to have decks you enjoy. And for the company it means a consistent income as long as new players join
You will continue to have a niche as long as you stay yourself. Wild can be a tilting game mode and some content creators can let it get the best of them. Salty streamers can be fun in its own way, but your positivty and personality is a huge selling point for your channel. Youre like Wild's Brian Kibler to me.
I didn't dare to watch Martian playing Reno Druid, but I listened to it while playing HS myself. This guy is hella enterteining. Not like Hearthstone cards such as *Ice Block.*
I still think something needs to be done about Ice Block because it's having an adverse effect on the enjoyment of the play experience, and so my suggestion would be to change Ice Block from a 3 mana secret to a 3 mana chumbo, drastically decreasing the frustration factor of the card.
I was watching your vid like I normally do on my TV. And noticed you are questioning your style of content and came to UA-cam on my mobile to tell you… I am a big fan of you as you are Marshie! I actually cannot believe that priest game ended in a win when martian is paying 0 attention and is just sending win cons for fun. Martian monologues really do have plot armor.
No, that has zero customization. Thats selling Heroes and cards together. Think if it like you buy those heroes but you still build a deck, and instead of card packs you just have all the cards already.
You cant craft as directly, the currency you craft with is hard to come by and most of your agency over what card you get always has a 3/4 chance of throwing away your resource. They recently made it so you can by the crafting currency but comes out to like 100 bucks a card or something.

@@MartianBuu its ok , i just love druid and i have plenty of dust to spent on legendaries cause i was away for along time , and decided to try a reno deck and druid hot alot of good and value cards lately, so il give a try to the list that you got the most wins with ,.. in the videos 😁😊
You need to play Faeria! It it sort of dead now but the monetization is interesting and arena runs are still fun. Also I think hearthstone could greatly improve its monetization by offering bundles focused on actual play. $20 for every tourist or something like that. Something worth buying at an affordable price. Tourists themselves are annoying because there are multiple decks I could play if I wasn't missing one legendary that let me use half my cards. I only have one tourist I crafted and two from the mini set. I didn't open and in packs (despite pulling five legendaries) and they didn't even give you a free one like they used to when they'd have a legendary mechanic. Sad
On the ice block disscussion I think that the moment you bring up an opinion on a subject people will instantly zone out and just belch thier own given no consideration for what was just said. Its almost like when people ask whats your favorite pokemon but they dont care they just want to say thier own favorite.
ice block: if your hero takes lethal damage, good for them. Also just have to agree to disagree on runeterra, it had barely anything to spend money on, and thats why it failed (also very poor advertising)
Gotta be honest, the idea of a franchise card game doesn't appeal to me in the slightest. For the last couple of years the new cards have been pretty boring to me to the point where I haven't bothered getting most of the new cards anymore and I've always thought Standard was way too boring, where nothing all that interesting happens. So at this point, I wouldn't be purchasing the new games. But, I also would have certainly gotten bored with the old versions of the games, cause nothing would be changing and they certainly wouldn't be balancing any of the older games anymore, so I'd either be too bored or too frustrated to want to go back and play them. But, with the expansions being cumulative, even if I don't have interest in most of the new cards, there's usually one or two I find interesting and then a few more pop-up as I play through the year and see other people playing, so I don't actually get bored and the game stays more or less fresh.
Reminder that this wasnt a suggestion for Hearthstone. I think it could be done in an appealing way and all of that was not to say any one of those ideas should be built upon specifically, just pointing out my frustration that no card game has explored a truly different monetization model.
@@MartianBuu oh yeah, I just don't think it works for card games in general. I was also, just using Hearthstone as an example. I do think the subscription model would work well, even if it was just like a 'base set's for each expansion and your choice of legendaries, even that would probably be better then all the packs we have. Course, to be honest, not being interested in the latest expansions while also playing wild is so nice one the wallet. Xp
Your comparison of Whale to f2p but people in the middle gets fucked is especially noticable with spmething like Catch up pack, while its nice and fun to have for new or f2p it sucks for the olayer who buys a pre order and a potrait or 2 an expansion, it feels ljke you get neither of each world, not all the whale shit but not the benefits of f2p, not to say f2p treatment is bad just I wish the gap wasnt as huge.

If hearthstone could be purchased for 60/year outright I’d play hours a day. As it is I watch content online and I never play. It’s too damn expensive to justify and the constant buff/nerf cycle means any money you do invest could be wasted anyways.
Simplicity of hearthstone card text is completely irrelevant. Half of the playerbase doesn't know how to read and the other one doesn't understand what they've read
Labeling the first section of games as “Streamer Shortcomings” for that seedlock game was very funny I assume you were labeling for the discussions but the losses were timed well As a Martian Buu fan, I hated to see it
No, the idea is that you buy a hero and customize it by building a deck to compliment it, like you would buy a league hero and customize it with runes.
