Honestly, some of my favourite moments in the series stem from it becoming obvious that Wander is *very* aware of what he’s doing. It gives him this playful edge that takes him beyond being the goodie-two-shoes he’s usually characterised as.
i can't believe this show is 10 years old my god i feel old this show is so underrated and it deserved better i'll never forgive disney for canceling this wonderful show too soon
wander is such a cool character to me because his unending optimism is never framed as naivety or innocence. he's a guy who has seen more than 90% of the characters in his universe has and chooses to believe the best in everyone despite it all. because of it all? a lot of time cheerful characters are happy because they've been sheltered, or because they're putting on a mask, but not wander! its really refreshing to see
He feels like Kirby, an endless piece of happiness and kindness Only Kirby has limits with foes like Fecto Elfilis, but he also let it be accepted by the good half-elflin I know they're not the same, but they feel like they could be best buds exploring space and helping others
Something I’ve taken notice of and come to appreciate are Wander’s flaws and weaknesses, one of them being that he *is* actually capable of being VERY angry - and this happens when children in particular are so much as mildly insulted. He clearly has a DEEP soft spot for kids and the weak, even with Huckleberry being 20x his size. He’s a fierce protector as much as he is a wandering therapist, but that anger he holds in is so rare and so oddly precious 😭 there’s so much to say about why he’s perfect… and so little time!!!
My favorite part of Wander Over Yonder is how Lord Hater was finally (maybe) redeemed- not through a heartfelt speech or a sudden realization of how he's been in the wrong, but by finally giving him everything he ever wanted- admiration and respect- for doing the right thing, entirely by accident. Lord Dominator tries to destroy a small moon filled with the last remnants of a destroyed galaxy, and Hater stops the weapon not because he wants to save others, but because he wants to save HIMSELF. But in doing so, he IS saving others, and they recognize him for it and cheer him on. For the first time in his life, Hater is finally doing the right thing and being loved for it, and he finally, FINALLY understands what Wander had been trying to teach him: that doing good feels good, especially if you're acknowledged for it. Lord Dominator, meanwhile, actively rejects Wander's most open attempts at kindness, just as she did with Sylvia's. She's not just lonely, she's made HERSELF lonely because she can no longer trust anyone who doesn't do exactly what she tells them to, and opening herself up to another, accepting that she can be wrong and others right without it getting her hurt, is something she can't do. Something she can't LET herself do. And you can't help someone who doesn't want to be helped, no matter how much they need it.
He's probably the best Craig McCracken and Disney character ever. Even if we'll never get a 3rd season of WOY, he'll always be a special character to me.
Wander is pretty great, but there were some moments from him that really bothered me. Mainly moments where he considers the well being of everyone except Sylvia in his actions in spite of her being his best friend, which often causes her great suffering. I personally love the villains in this show more. Lord Hater, Lord Dominator, and even Commander Peepers have frequently made me laugh so hard I had to pause the episode and wait until I was done laughing.
@@superfightingrobotmkx7776Moments that bothers me is that he keeps seeing the good in every body no matter how pure evil the villains are. Especially Dominator, Sis is tryna kill everybody in the galaxy and to my surprise he sees the good in her lol
Bro I’m not gonna lie to you, the quote at 12:38 “the helper seems to help because he knows what it is to be helpless” actually made me properly cry holy shit that is such a good moral lesson especially after consuming so much media that has hero’s doing the right thing Because Evil Bad. That quote is like a breath of fresh air in a land of fictional heroic absolute justice
Holy cow this show is already 10 years old? I grew up watching it and was even inspired by Wander to be a better person that’s always willing to help. I’d love to see you talk more about this lovable orange spoon man in the future.
I already wanted to be a better person and help others but people often made fun of me and said being kind was pointless because the world's cruel and could never change. I simply looked at them confused and just said Why though? It doesn't have to be. Wander keeps doing it no matter what, so why couldn't I do the same. It did get to me slightly once people picked on me for liking the show though.
I loved the theory about Wander's backstory. I am sure that the creator was never planning to write him a backstory or make him a tragic hero, but it is still nice to give him a motive for his optimistic personality. I have to rewatch the show, Wander gives me so much joy.
Damn, I saw WOY for the first time about a year ago and it shook my world. It has become one of my favorite shows of all time since then. PLEASE, make more Wander videos, this show deserves more love
Wander is my one favorite for a reason. He is the perfect definition of an optimist good guy that is never selfish of his needs and focuses on the others around him first. He can easily stop any villain, not with a fist but love
First of all, I'm so happy I'm not alone in enjoying Wander Over Yonder. It's hands down one of my favorite shows from the early-to-mid 2010s. I loved the classic Craig McCracken-style humor, I loved the colorful animation and unique character designs, and honestly, Wander and Sylvia are one of my favorite modern duos alongside Sam and Max. Totally different in styles, but similarly enjoyable chemistry. Anyway, what sells Wander for me is his heart, and in turn, the heart of the show itself. Like Finn said, he is positive, but not overly so, and he doesn't force folks to cheer up. Or, as he himself said it best, "I only present the positive path, I don't force you to follow it." And that, I think, sums him up as a character. He doesn't always succeed in his goals, but he never gives up, and sticks to his positive guns. I can respect that kind of hustle. Of course, it helps he has that kickass Zbornak Sylvia to back him up. Fun fact, her species is named after Dorothy Zbornak from Golden Girls. Just a fun bit of trivia I discovered a long time ago. Bottom line, thank you for the video, Finn-boy. I'm glad Wander is getting the look over he deserves.
11:32 This entire segment is what moved me. 😭 And what you said about what made Wander like this, even if its a possible theory, that could possibly be his orgin story, it actually makes a lot of sense! 🤯 You truly understand Wander as a character and I applaud for your efforts. 👏 I can't believe this show is now 10 years old. I always miss the show since the series finale, but I'm glad people are starting to come around, little by little. I have a lot of favorite episodes but I'll stick to one example, The Little Guy. It's what got me into the show in the first place. I love the story, I love Westly (He's the best-ly ( Even if he's one time character)), and just everything about it. Heck, even I found myself singing the "If you Wander over Yonder" song cause it was a great catchy song. Great video, great content, and I hope you make more WOY videos in the future. Keep up the good work. 😊
This was a great video and analysis about Wander's perspective. He's cute, he's Brave and he's a good-written character. I don't consider him as perfect since some episodes try to teach him a Lesson and at the end he learns, but at the same time his actions, personality and everything else really help him to be a better person and that's something we can all learn. We're not perfect, we fail sometimes but that doesn't mean we can't learn about it. Every day we can learn and have a Little Lesson. No matter Who You are, there's always chance and hope to be better.
I agree with everything you said. Wander is pretty much the epitome of all things heroic. No sense of self righteousness, no powers (other than cartoon physics), no stopping bad guys just for the sake of stopping them and no performing heroic acts for selfish reasons like fame, praise or recognition. He's just a simple, pure soul who is genuinely happy to help anyone in need, even his own worst enemies. In fact, from how you described him, he's not only a clever subversion on karmic trickster characters or a deconstruction on heroes in general, he's also a subversion of another cartoon character who's just as bubbly and optimistic as him: SpongeBob SquarePants. Albeit, with major differences that separate the two.
@@ethanshepherd4963 Well, for starters, Wander, other than being upbeat, cheerful and optimistic, is also loyal, compassionate, selfless and often sees the best in even the worst of people. The only difference is that while he uses those traits to be genuinely caring and heroic, SpongeBob often times uses that as a means of being reckless, careless and be a nuisance. SpongeBob's heart can be in the right place but he's completely misguided and clueless to the point of never getting the hint.
I miss this show so much, this use to be my go-to whenever I would be depressed or anxious, it was just fun and lighthearted and had a warmth to it that I had not seen on T.V at the time. This is kind of why I used to watch My Little Pony, I tend to gravitate to simple and heartwarming cartoons. I still sort of watch their reruns of the show to give me that pick me up every once in a while.
They paired Wander, the perfect protagonist, with Lord Hater. Whom I believe is a perfect villain. I'd love to see a video on Hater, Sylvia and Peepers too. They are the main quadrumvirate and are all absolute gold in their own rights.
Honestly, your explanation of him being a deconstruction of the hero concept made me realize: this is why I love Batman. He and Wander aren't the same, obviously, but Batman also operates under the concept "these villains aren't doing bad just cuz. They had that One Bad Day that sent them down this path, and I believe they can be pulled back from the edge." Their methods may be vastly different, but like Wander, Batman doesn't stop them just because It Needs To Be Done, he stops them because otherwise they will hurt innocents, and after he's stopped them he does everything he can to help them recover. Help them heal and not feel the need to keep doing bad things. I really really love heroes that operate like this. Cuz yeah, a hero could stop a villain (maybe even permanently, if you know what I mean) and move on, but villains are people too, and you'll ultimately do a lot more good if you help them too. Sometimes that's all a villain needs in the end. For one hand to reach into the darkness and say "I am here. I care about your pain. You are not alone."
This show is so underrated! I hope it comes back at some point! You gave me a new found appreciation for this show and Wander's character, I always loved him as the pure optimistic that sees the best in everyone and the fact he acts like this because he wants to help them with their most deep rooted issues makes him so much better
Oh my grop, I'm so happy I found another UA-camr who is into WOY! Everyone else usually just makes a review of the show as a whole or make clip compilations, and I've never seen an in-depth essay about specific parts of the show! I really love how Wander's character has nuance to it. Like so often other shows will be like "Pacifism is always the answer!" and in WOY, Wander's pacifism comes back to bite him in the ass on several occasions, especially when it comes to Dominator. I really love that he isn't like, perfect and has flaws like low self-control and is easily swayed by cuteness, no matter if its evil/dangerous. I adore the fact that his idealism isn't because he's naive, sheltered, or a child. He's a grown-ass, competent adult who still sees the universe as a wonder, despite knowing how fucked up things can get. Like I was planning on making a video essay on Wander's character, but you nailed it better than I could ever! I would love to see more WOY essay vids from you!
I really love characters like Wander: through simply being kind to others, and always seeing the best in even the worst people, they are the embodiment of what it means to live a meaningful life. They don’t always get the credit, but their actions have huge impacts on others. And the thing is, there are quite a more characters like that are some my absolute favorites! For example, Wilt from Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends, Ollie from Netflix’s Lost Ollie, Donkey from Shrek, and Perrito from Puss in Boots: The Last Wish all go through some pretty tragic events in their lives, yet it’s their shared optimism that heal others during their time of suffering. 😊
This was a perfect depiction of how simple a character can look on the surface but deep down, had many layers to how they solve problems thrown at them!
For me, it was the episode that first got me into this show. The Troll. Now the Troll was a rare villain in that he's one of the rare few Wander didn't try to redeem. All he did was ignore him and let the Troll shrink down to nothing. Now think about that, he's tried to redeem Hater and Dominator...yet not the Troll.
I'm so happy to see this video, so glad this fandom's still alive! I've actually finished rewatching the series this week without even realizing it was the ten year anniversary until I finished it. And rewatching as an adult made me appreciate Wander so much more than I ever did as a kid. Ever so slightly because I feel like this little guy miiighttt just have some sort of mental illness and it makes him very relatable, to me, specifically. I honestly love how Wander deconstructs so many hero tropes with such sincerity. He's allowed to be feminine, to be soft, even the fact he doesn't have a cannon love interest is so refreshing! I think the thing that draws me most to him now is just that he embodies one of my favorite archetypes: a character who's suffered in their past and decides to dedicate their lives to helping others instead I had a different interpretation of The Wanders personally. I definitely agree that Wander went through some kind of trauma he wishes to forget and erase but I think the reason he came back without that part of himself is because it's a part he represses. I think whatever trauma this was inspired him to decide to do whatever he can to cheer others up, both doing small things and trying to make villains better. It's part of why I find his dynamic with Dominator so interesting because she's clearly also someone who's had hardships but chose to lash out at the universe instead, which really makes them perfect foils I just love this show and especially the little fuzzball so much, it means so much to me even if I forgot about it for years. Can't wait for more videos on it!
I always loved wander from his desire to explore his big heart, and bouncy spirit that refuses to stand still but man the gaping depth that lingers in this fuzzy munchkin is insane I just didn't notice it before I think my favorite episodes are the good deed The brainstorm, the cartoon, the battle royale, and the hero
I think my favorite things about this show are the animation and the humor, for how UN-Disney they feel, which makes sense considering it was created by the guy that's responsible for CARTOON NETWORK's 2 cult classics PPG and Foster's.
Finally someone who talks about this show, I used to love this as a kid it's humor, creativity an optimism was something that truly inspired me and my imagination, plus the music in this show is great. I would love to see you talk about this more in te future, people need to know
Wander was very important to me in a lot of ways, and a show's cancellation never hurt me as much as this one's did There is a lot to learn from this show, especially about kindness and determination. The one quote on The Flower "just because I'm sad doesn't mean I've given up hope" has stuck with me for Years
I adore this show. One of my favorite lines in the whole series was "Just because I'm sad doesn't mean I've given up hope." It's a simple but deeply profound statement. Being upset at a world gone bad doesn't mean we've given up on it. And refusing to give up doesn't equate boundless optimism. It's good to feel sad when bad things happen. That's appropriate. We should not equate an emotional response to a breaking of the spirit. Another detail I like is how the only villain Wander goes full "hero mode" on is Dr. Screwball Jones, because practices a perversion of Wander's core philosophy. Rather than helping people find their own happiness, Screwball tries to *force* people to be happy. To me, it makes sense that this corruption of Wander's ideals would be something he'd see as irredeemable and dangerous.
Thank you so much for making this video! This was one of my favorite cartoons growing up and I'm so happy seeing more people appreciate this show, even if it had to take 10 years. This will always be my favorite show and this video is such a great explanation of Wander's character. Espectually the deconstruction chapter❤please do more woy videos. The Wanders is def my fave episode, but then again, so are the others lol its nice knowing there's more super fans of woy like me
I discovered Wander Over Yonder when I was around 10 or 11, right around the time I was on any social media for the first time. And I will never EVER be upset this is the one God decided I needed to see. Seeing Wander and Sylvia go out of their way to help people no matter what sparked something in my tiny baby self and the show meant so much to me back then (still does now, but) that I think it made something in me want to mimic them. Want to be a Wander. So I took WOY's view of how to help the world and listened to people and helped them as well as I could. And back then a lot of people were going through something really heavy. So I just listened and tried to offer the best help I could. I still try to be as patient with people as I can to this very day. Wander Over Yonder really just...sparked the ability to sit and try and offer solutions to people in me. I owe this show a lot. It deserved better than it got. Happy bday, Wander and Sylvia. Your hopeful adventures helped me a lot. I love you
I've never consistently watched wander over yonder, but I still vividly remember watching the wanders episode. Right down to the helpless wander being the final piece. That part really speaks to me.
I hope the show can comeback for one more season with the character development of Dominator, more loved antics with Hater, and some needed lore for wander.
This is a show that I discovered long after it was cancelled back in 2017-2018. I was bothered by the abrupt ending and wished there was so much more. My mind was fickle with possibilities. I love Wander and I wish we could see new adventures with him, even if it can't be in cartoon format as Disney seems to be going in a different direction as of late (let's not getting into all of that). Maybe we'll see Wander in a graphic novel format? Seems more likely of a continuation at this point if any and it's more than possible. While I didn't know it was the anniversary, I will be looking into old episodes throughout the day in celebration. Edit: Didn't realize that I'm watching this a day late, but I'll still be watching WOY.
i love the show the animation, the character designs, the zanyness, the messages, EVERYTHING but there's 1 episode i like more than the others The Void Wander in an infinite blank void, were he can explore the full extent of his "tricksteriness" and where we can let Craig's animation legs REALLY kick how could i not love that?
To this day, The Troll not only remains as one of Wander's best episodes but its most timeless and relatable too. In today's social media age, we've ALL been faced with the occasional Troll Attack. But while ours are just man-children looking to cause trouble for the sake of it, the one in this show is a real troll that grows bigger the more everyone fights it. But the moment he's ignored, he shrinks down to microscopic size; almost becoming non-existent. As we speak, the nation is plagued by two equally horrid trolls trying to gain control; one of whom is in a one-sided feud with the company that made Wander Over Yonder. But unlike the show's villain...it's dang near impossible to ignore the two of them or the people who sing their praises as "saviors of the people. One thing is for sure, though...we're all good people, deep down. As such, the opinions of an orange-headed TV hack and a self-righteous governor don't matter even the slightest to me
Great video : D Really solid breakdown of wanders character. So happy to see people talking about this show. Personally, my favourite episode is "The little guy." Wander helping a genuinely nice watchdog stop buying into hateful propaganda is such a great message. The "If you wander over yonder" song at the end is absolutely beautiful and probably my favourite scene in the whole show.
I’m a big fan of this show and to be honest it took the song “I’m the bad guy” to get me to watch it. I’m glad I did cause I still love it all. Hope to see more of our adorable little ball of stardust. 🌸🥰
11:32 is brilliant because its a double whammy, not only is all of this a great breakdown into heroes, and the driving force behind Wander as a person... it's also another lesson, about acceptance, about vulnerability. Nobody is perfect, everyone has things they'd see as flaws and traits, but a true friend will accept you for who you are. Sylvias life would likely be easier being willing to take easier options, or to commit himself, but she knows that its those little flaws that define us, its overcoming what we feel are our shortcomings that gives us what we need to take on the bigger challenges in life, and that we shouldn't be ashamed of not being perfect, so long as we can take a step forwards and be true to ourselves.
woy being that old hit me like a brick. angers me that disney's so quick to axe good shows for being different, so i'm always itching that woy comes back. i hope the fandom makes a comeback as well and people can appreciate it for being the amazing cartoon that it is. the show's influenced me so much (even helping me realize my sexuality. idk how that even happens but it did) and it reflects a lot of times in my life so this essay video is a real treat
Oh i loved this show when I was a kid/teen. Wander was just the biggest sweet heart ray of sunshine that honestly, we need. In this world. I would die for wander as well. He is always going to be in my heart. Gosh I forgot all the episodes names
I like that Wander choosing to be friendly to even the villains does indeed work on changing them, like Sylvia (if I remember, she was a bounty hunter.) and Major Threat / Jeff
When I started watching this show for myself, I was caught by surprise just how funny, charming and layered Wander of Yonder was. You can clearly tell Craig took all he learned from Foster's Home For Imaginary Friends combined with the much less formulaic format of THIS show and applied it full stop. It's all the more reason it only having two seasons to its name (at least for now) hurts and why it being as old as it is is mind boggling. As for Wander's deconstruction here, it just further proves what I said and solidifies how unique he is too. Just the way he bounces off of EVERYONE in the show ALONE is entertaining and nothing like anything else I've seen before. Man, I need to rewatch this show soon, lol. Awesome video!
Wander was a cute show that I watched for a while when I was younger, I remember watching it up until the female antagonist came about and then I started watching other shows. I forgot about the show for the longest time until this video greeted my recommendations, and now I want to watch the show over again if possible.
I genuinely love this show. Wander is an amazing main character, the animation is hilarious, hater is a riot, and I’m glad you’re talking about it and celebrating it’s tenth anniversary.
Seeing that so many shows from long ago are getting continuations these days, it's only fair that Wander should get one too; especially with how it ended
I know I'm late but I just gotta say; Thank you Finn. This review finally convinced me to give this show a shot and while I haven't finished it (and I sort of know what's going to happen in the future... to a degree), I've been having a blast watching every episode. I finally see why every animation UA-camr has been praising it... without really explaining it.
Thank you for this video. It helped me remember some situations that happened when I was a kid, absolutely in love with this show. Sometimes messages in episodes are so sad they were making me cry before I feel happy that this show, to this day, is still remembered and loved
I just want to take this opportunity to say that BOWSER IN THE SUPER MARIO BROS MOVIE IS LITERALLY ACTUALLY JUST LORD HATER AND IT UPSETS ME THAT MORE PEOPLE AREN'T POINTING IT OUT >:(
I'd love to watch more WOY videos. Maybe an in-depth analysis of each episode, or something? I'd also love to get a Dominator backstory and redemption if we ever get a third season.
I want to thank ya for reviewing this, Wander was always an inspiration to be kind to everyone, so seeing you put it into words is really nice to see. Thank you.

I’m so glad I saw this video in my recommended feed because you did a really good job explaining it. Plus, Wander Over Yonder is one of my favorite Disney shows of all time.
Would definitely love to see more Wander content, sometimes i feel like i am the only one who watched this show, feels great to see someone ANYONE talking about it. Will definitely be around for any more Wander content.
Oh my goodness this is an amazing character analysis. Every. Single. Point. Hits the mark straight on the head. I just discovered this show about a year ago and it’s hands down my favorite animated series. Again, amazing video, please make more woy content!
The only part of Wander Over Yonder I’ve seen is Annihilator’s “I’m The Bad Guy” song (freakin’ love it) but you made me want to go watch it all 😄😄😄 Thanks for the new video Finny-Finn-Finn and go hug your furbabies all 💙🐱💙
I know this show came out a LONG tome ago, but believe it or not I’ve never seen this show and because of you I am now watching it! I really love it and thank you for making a video about it! I am a little sad that there is no more, but at least we have 2 seasons.
I finished watching wander over yander just a few days ago, and honestly I would love to see more videos like this! I honestly love Wander and the whole show so much, I dont think theres a single character I dislike! And this analysis was so on point! Hope I'm not too late, but honestly this was perfect timing for me!
I FEEL LIKE I NEVER SEE WANDER OVER YONDER CONTENT SO THIS WAS SO GREAT TO WATCH, honestly The Wanders made me so emotional and will always be my favorite episode but some others I like would be The Breakfast, The Day, The Night, and both Gift episodes. Super excited to see more WoY content in the future!!
honestly dominator also provided the most important lesson in the show: some people don't want to change, you can question and try to understand them but unfortunately not everyone can be redeemed and also: tragedy not always excuses your actions
I'm mad that I missed the anniversary. Besides that, I really like Wander, he seems like a friend everyone should have. Excellent analysis on the character too.
wander is basically disneys version of luffy a guy who travels around freeing people from slavery, defeating powerful villans in goofy ways, all while doing it with a smile, all the while being a positive opimistic force, while also still of course facing consequences.
YES finally someone pays attention to this masterpiece! Wander is truly awesome and he is one of the most (if not say the most) impactful characters in my entire life. Yet I've never gone deep into analyzing his back story. So thanks to you I get to know and feel more in love with him
This really brings me joy, i always like wander over yonder as a kid and no one seems to talk about it. In the past few years this show seems to get a bit more attention. Happy 10 years anniversary wander
You and I have the same theory on what created baby Wander and a part of his backstory! To add to that, I like to think that Wander spent a good amount of time alone before Slyvia. He finds the person who destroyed his home and in an attempt to make up for whatever happened he tried to fight them, only to accidentally destroy another planet. That's how he got the bounty, and each time he was caught by a person trying to cash in he got to hear more about their lives and why they became bounty hunters.
Seeing a Wander Over Yonder video after all these years really brings me back to when I used to sit down, turn on Disney XD, and laugh at my favorite fluffy orange spoon-shaped protag. I'd love to see more Wander content!
I really like rewatching this video from time to time because the amount of great points brought up in this video and I would LOVE to see more. I also wish more people talk about this show because it’s so underrated. :)
I'm glad someone remembers and loves the show as u do as I have always wondered why he never seems to be mentioned as much as star vs and gravity falls
i know videos are a lot of effort to make and this one is a year old but i just got the opportunity to watch wander over yonder and this video has me on the verge of tears. like, you get it, man. you get it so much and answered a lot of questions i didnt even know i had. id love to see whatever WOY content you put out next
Okay, I love this show. And it was way more obvoius in the first season, and they started drifitng away from it in the second season, but I like how Wander knows exactly what he's doing. He's just acting innocent, but he knows what he's doing.
Love the video and the ending, I hope to see more of WoW it certainly is my favorite show and it fills me with glee to see more people taking a deeper look at the writing and meanings in the show!
Oh thank you thank you thank you for making this video about my favorite show!! Watching some clips of wander made your video show up in my recommended and i JUMPED on that video because hella yeah! people talking about my boy Wander!
FINALLY! About time I saw some wander over yonder videos on my recommended! Sadly very few people make videos on this show, so this was awesome to see. Also this was super well done!!! Wander is such an interesting character (my favorite character of all time) and I'm so happy to see a character analysis on him, because he absolutely deserves one! Please please keep making wander over yonder videos! I'd love to see more Happy (late) birthday wander over yonder!
Wander is nice with everyone and see good in others, he's also brave and positive no matter what horrible things happens to him or Silvia. This peanut-monkey is an excellent singer too! I like him 😀I also like Peepers and feel sad for him. He has to watch an army of idiots and Hater never helped him because he's too focused on Dominator; not an easy life for the small cyclop. Despite that, Peepers does everything to make Hater happy; he's a great friend!
Honestly, some of my favourite moments in the series stem from it becoming obvious that Wander is *very* aware of what he’s doing. It gives him this playful edge that takes him beyond being the goodie-two-shoes he’s usually characterised as.
YES!! I’m so glad others see that for the most part he really is NOT oblivious!!
I love it when he just has that smug little smirk on his face after majorly pissing someone off. The spoon is a little shit sometimes
same! it really perplexes me when people label him as oblivious and naive
@@frauleinzuckerguss1906 Like when Wander gained the self-destruction remote and Captain Peepers chased after him

i can't believe this show is 10 years old my god i feel old this show is so underrated and it deserved better i'll never forgive disney for canceling this wonderful show too soon
Yeah it brought a tear to my eye actually
I was 10 when the show came out

wander is such a cool character to me because his unending optimism is never framed as naivety or innocence. he's a guy who has seen more than 90% of the characters in his universe has and chooses to believe the best in everyone despite it all. because of it all? a lot of time cheerful characters are happy because they've been sheltered, or because they're putting on a mask, but not wander! its really refreshing to see
He feels like Kirby, an endless piece of happiness and kindness
Only Kirby has limits with foes like Fecto Elfilis, but he also let it be accepted by the good half-elflin
I know they're not the same, but they feel like they could be best buds exploring space and helping others
Wander is just a wholesome lil' fur ball of joy and happiness that no one ever asked for so what else could you ask for :)
@@ahmedzahranJPbut thats highkey the point!! he sees the good in villains because he wants to help!!!
@@teef7467 And if there is hope of having a 3rd season Wander learns from his mistakes that he is willing to have someone to end the threat
Wander is the sweetest character of this cartoon.
I hope Disney actually considers making a season 3
But this means you have to wait forever
Holy cow this show is already 10 years old? I grew up watching it and was even inspired by Wander to be a better person that’s always willing to help. I’d love to see you talk more about this lovable orange spoon man in the future.
I was inspired to be a better person by him too! Also I was ten when this show came out
I already wanted to be a better person and help others but people often made fun of me and said being kind was pointless because the world's cruel and could never change. I simply looked at them confused and just said Why though? It doesn't have to be. Wander keeps doing it no matter what, so why couldn't I do the same. It did get to me slightly once people picked on me for liking the show though.
Fr tho
I loved the theory about Wander's backstory. I am sure that the creator was never planning to write him a backstory or make him a tragic hero, but it is still nice to give him a motive for his optimistic personality. I have to rewatch the show, Wander gives me so much joy.
Finns take makes alot of sense. My story kinda goes in a different direction.
I am glad Wander's kindness is being appreciated. I miss this show so much 😊
It is indescribable how much I miss watching this show!
well why wont you rewatch it??
I feel like Wander over Yonder is needed now more then ever.
Literally my childhood show
11:32 This entire segment is what moved me. 😭
And what you said about what made Wander like this, even if its a possible theory, that could possibly be his orgin story, it actually makes a lot of sense! 🤯
You truly understand Wander as a character and I applaud for your efforts. 👏
I can't believe this show is now 10 years old.
Westley was going to Aparently come back in season 3
Like what? What differences between SpongeBob and Wander do you believe they have?
Samee
Their personalities make them great comfort shows
which My Little Pony?
To this day I think mlp be brainwashing people cause it has an undescribable charm that makes it actually fun to watch 😭
nvm lmfao you guys are clearly talking about G4
@@carnage0685 yep g4😁
They paired Wander, the perfect protagonist, with Lord Hater. Whom I believe is a perfect villain. I'd love to see a video on Hater, Sylvia and Peepers too. They are the main quadrumvirate and are all absolute gold in their own rights.
This show is so slept on it's unbelievable
Honestly, your explanation of him being a deconstruction of the hero concept made me realize: this is why I love Batman.
He and Wander aren't the same, obviously, but Batman also operates under the concept "these villains aren't doing bad just cuz. They had that One Bad Day that sent them down this path, and I believe they can be pulled back from the edge."
Their methods may be vastly different, but like Wander, Batman doesn't stop them just because It Needs To Be Done, he stops them because otherwise they will hurt innocents, and after he's stopped them he does everything he can to help them recover.
Exactly. After all, why save 1,000 people when you can save 1,001
@@arcanewyverian3061 indeed.
I think some versions of Batman fail to show that part, which really sucks
I loved this show so much when it used to be on Disney. I really hope it manages to be brought back
I'm so happy to see this video, so glad this fandom's still alive!
I think the thing that draws me most to him now is just that he embodies one of my favorite archetypes: a character who's suffered in their past and decides to dedicate their lives to helping others instead
I had a different interpretation of The Wanders personally. It's part of why I find his dynamic with Dominator so interesting because she's clearly also someone who's had hardships but chose to lash out at the universe instead, which really makes them perfect foils
I just love this show and especially the little fuzzball so much, it means so much to me even if I forgot about it for years. Can't wait for more videos on it!
Honestly, your explanation of him being a deconstruction of the hero concept made me realize: this is why I love Batman.
I really like Wonder’s character, he feels like a therapist for villains he encounters
I always loved wander from his desire to explore his big heart, and bouncy spirit that refuses to stand still but man the gaping depth that lingers in this fuzzy munchkin is insane I just didn't notice it before I think my favorite episodes are the good deed
The brainstorm,the cartoon,the battle royale,and the hero
I think my favorite things about this show are the animation and the humor, for how UN-Disney they feel, which makes sense considering it was created by the guy that's responsible for CARTOON NETWORK's 2 cult classics PPG and Foster's.
Finally someone who talks about this show, I used to love this as a kid it's humor, creativity an optimism was something that truly inspired me and my imagination, plus the music in this show is great. I would love to see you talk about this more in te future, people need to know
Wander was very important to me in a lot of ways, and a show's cancellation never hurt me as much as this one's did
There is a lot to learn from this show, especially about kindness and determination. The one quote on The Flower "just because I'm sad doesn't mean I've given up hope" has stuck with me for Years
You know what I would love? An analysis video on MY favorite character of the show: LORD HATER!!!
I love you
I was the same age when I saw it too.
You’re not the only one. I remember it for the underrated gem that it was. My friends, on the other hand, only remember it because of Lord Dominator.
I never knew this show had that kind of moral teaching, or that kind of depth. Thank you, I might give it a watch soon today
Edit: Didn't realize that I'm watching this a day late, but I'll still be watching WOY.
actually it was canceled in 2016.
@@carnage0685 Oh I know that. I just meant that's when I discovered it.
i love the show
the animation, the character designs, the zanyness, the messages, EVERYTHING
but
there's 1 episode i like more than the others
The Void
Wander in an infinite blank void, were he can explore the full extent of his "tricksteriness"
and where we can let Craig's animation legs REALLY kick
how could i not love that?
As such, the opinions of an orange-headed TV hack and a self-righteous governor don't matter even the slightest to me
Great video : D
Really solid breakdown of wanders character.
I absolutely agree! I still can’t believe it’s been 10 years! I absolutely love this show and it deserves so much more recognition l!!😊
This show coincidentally came out when I was 10.
woy being that old hit me like a brick. angers me that disney's so quick to axe good shows for being different, so i'm always itching that woy comes back. i hope the fandom makes a comeback as well and people can appreciate it for being the amazing cartoon that it is. the show's influenced me so much (even helping me realize my sexuality. idk how that even happens but it did) and it reflects a lot of times in my life so this essay video is a real treat
Oh i loved this show when I was a kid/teen. Wander was just the biggest sweet heart ray of sunshine that honestly, we need. In this world. I would die for wander as well. He is always going to be in my heart. Gosh I forgot all the episodes names
Iam so happy. Still remember Wander. You pretty much pointed out everything I loved about Wander, and why he is one of my fav fictional protagonist.
I liked that he wanted to give dominator a second chance despite the horrible things she did
for some reason randomly remembered this show today. wow... i loved it so much as a kid and after rewatching some episode i honestly still do
I like that Wander choosing to be friendly to even the villains does indeed work on changing them, like Sylvia (if I remember, she was a bounty hunter.) and Major Threat / Jeff
Sometimes messages in episodes are so sad they were making me cry before
I feel happy that this show, to this day, is still remembered and loved
I just want to take this opportunity to say that BOWSER IN THE SUPER MARIO BROS MOVIE IS LITERALLY ACTUALLY JUST LORD HATER AND IT UPSETS ME THAT MORE PEOPLE AREN'T POINTING IT OUT >:(
Even better is it has freaking Emmet in it as Mario, I know Mario doesn't actively try to be Bowser´s friend or play a banjo, but you get what I mean.
Little orange dude and his trusty steed bff are some of the best Disney shows I’ve seen.
I'd love to watch more WOY videos. Maybe an in-depth analysis of each episode, or something? I'd also love to get a Dominator backstory and redemption if we ever get a third season.
have you been pondering Dominater's past if so long
I want to thank ya for reviewing this, Wander was always an inspiration to be kind to everyone, so seeing you put it into words is really nice to see.

Wander over yonder is the best thing to ever come out from Disney
TGAMM bros... how will we ever recover....
I loved this show as a kid, and it still holds up today. I will always love Commander Peepers. He is just the king of being the hard carry.
I love this show so much! I always admired how Wander wasn't written as a one-note hero, and just AAAAAAAAAA TYSM FOR THIS ANALYSIS, made my day ^^
Oh my goodness this is an amazing character analysis. Every. Single. Point. Hits the mark straight on the head. I just discovered this show about a year ago and it’s hands down my favorite animated series. Again, amazing video, please make more woy content!
The only part of Wander Over Yonder I’ve seen is Annihilator’s “I’m The Bad Guy” song (freakin’ love it) but you made me want to go watch it all 😄😄😄
Thanks for the new video Finny-Finn-Finn and go hug your furbabies all 💙🐱💙
this entire video I've gotten chills and nostalgia for one of the childhood shows I grew up on. I give in; I'm rewatching it
I know this show came out a LONG tome ago, but believe it or not I’ve never seen this show and because of you I am now watching it! I really love it and thank you for making a video about it! I am a little sad that there is no more, but at least we have 2 seasons.
0:05 My feelings exactly, Finn. My feelings exactly.
Sylvia: It’s today?
Me: *IT’S TODAAAAAYYYYY!!!!*
Excellent analysis on the character too.
wander is basically disneys version of luffy
a guy who travels around freeing people from slavery, defeating powerful villans in goofy ways, all while doing it with a smile, all the while being a positive opimistic force, while also still of course facing consequences.
Wander was really before its time. If it was rereleased today I bet it would it be the most popular thing on TV right now.
YES finally someone pays attention to this masterpiece! Wander is truly awesome and he is one of the most (if not say the most) impactful characters in my entire life. Yet I've never gone deep into analyzing his back story. So thanks to you I get to know and feel more in love with him
Happy 10th Anniversary to Wander Over Yonder! 🎉🎉🎉
I remember when I watched the final episode of this show it broke my heart when it ended but in a good way I want to rewatch the show one day
I'd love to see more
Happy (late) birthday wander over yonder!
Me 🤝🏻 Finn
"The helper seeks to help because he knows what it is to be helpless" is one of the most important lines in the show
