      Thank you! For certain repairs like replacing the coolant flange water outlet, it’s generally necessary to drain some of the coolant to prevent spillage and to properly replace the part. However, you don't need to drain the entire system. You can drain just enough coolant to be below the level of the flange. Always ensure the engine is cool before starting any work, and refer to your vehicle's manual for specific instructions.
