I've been commuting my Grom daily, wide open, for 3+ years and never had an issue. I can ride it year round here in TX and it costs nothing to run and maintain. A+ would recommend, especially in this economy.

I’ve owned my Grom a year now and I absolutely love it so much fun to ride and I get around 140mpg. It’s my first bike, I’m in the UK and only have a CBT. Put so many mods onto it already and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
Out here in CA, your bike must be 150cc or bigger to go on the freeway. That Grom is not legal on the CA freeways. But in reality, since the LA freeways are always jammed, a Grom would be a great lane splitter!!!!
I see a lot of people riding them on the freeway in the bay area. Police never once bother them from what I’ve seen. Works absolutely amazing for lane splitting
My brother in law bought one for his first starter bike. It has served him very well over the years. I'm even considering getting one for my son's first street legal bike...
I have been watching your videos on both your channels and I have really appreciated you reading the Bible verse. It is a really small thing but is a big deal to some of us and is definitely uplifting. Thank you for that.
I have an 2018 now and honestly with a tune, suspension and sticky rubber these things are like mini GP bikes. They really let you push the limits and gain some good experience.
I let my brothers 13 year old friend ride the grom cuz he rides a klx 110 around town so i figured id let him try it 😂😂 its only slightly too big for him but he still rode it like it wasn't
🎉 There certainly isn't anything wrong with that. I do want a Moto Guzzi V7 and eventually a 48, but the Grom is my first order of the day. Do you ride year-round?
I dont see anything wrong with that I want one really bad to save money on gas and maintenance and to just commute to my job instead of taking my gas guzzling mustang
I have a grom myself and I absolutely love it, i live in a tiny farm town so it’s perfect! Thanks a lot for the videos, have been subscribed for a while now. Would be insane to see you make one of these little guys as fast as possible without pulling out that little 125 . God bless.
I've ridden Harleys my entire adult life, since age 18. The kid in me just bought a grom, mainly for the beach trips to get through traffic on the strip. I'm 6'4" and 225. I have to say, it's a fun little bike to ride. I've had it up to 58mph on a semi flat road. I do plan on doing some things to it. There is a 300 kit for them 🤔......
Post a picture of the Grom that had the windshield bags and tank bag. That has to be a laugh. This would be a great bike for the back of a RV to be able to ride around town.
The bigger question is.. _Why not?_ This thing is Fun Cheap Durable Customizable Efficient Easy to ride Perfect for commutes If you don't have one, you are missing out. If you're worried about looking silly on it, no one cares. People go out of their way to ask what it is and they love it 20 minutes after i bought it and loaded it on the truck for transport an older gentleman took several photos of it while i was getting food at a Wendys. He waited for me to return and asked what it was and where i got it.
I have been having the same experience and honestly I don't care what other people think, I've owned a McLaren before and didn't care what people thought then, the grom is just pure fun!
I did my motorcycle class on one, it made the class really really easy. Especially the sharp turns and figure 8s. I'd get one as a second bike, just for some mess around fun around town. I'm 5'4 though, so I actually fit on one pretty comfortably. I ride a shadow 750
I'm about to take the intermediate course tomorrow and they offer groms as the class bikes. It's either that or my zx10r haha the grom will be way easier
Driving home one night on my 2017 grom, a driver turned left in an intersection when I had the right of way and completely smoked me. Lucky to be alive. I miss mine and I wish I could ride again not worth it though.
I have a 2014 grom, I can do about 105km/h or 65mph. I do have an after market exhaust and intake. However, the bike does not like going that speed but going 80km/h or 50mph it has no problem. Very economical with the fuel I can get about 180km out of 4 litres or so
I did a Grom Test drive a couple years ago, and found the same thing with top speed. I weighed about 185 pounds at the time, and could only get a little over 45 mph out of it going up McGovernville Rd. It's a great fun bike, but the thing that keeps me from having one for myself is that I need something I can ride to New England once a year or so. It would be a second bike for putzin' around, and I'd still keep the PCX scooter for my main riding. The PCX has more storage and mine is tuned to do 75mph if needed. The Grom isn't about that kind of thing...That said, I'd love to have one, it would just be a toy, not a tool like my scooter is.
My car broke down and I'm thinking about just getting a grom since I work from home. Carry a backpack and a little storage attachment for groceries and that's all I need.
I own a Ducati Panagalle V4 Corsa R & a Hypermotard, both 2020 & 2019. I just bought a Grom just to use for erronds around town. It is is blast to ride and anybody can ride one. My wife rides and she loves it. I might just buy her one. The one thing that makes the Grom perfect is that you can drive them anywhere. We are planning a trip of the west coast and going to take them with us.
I've had mine about 3 years, great bike for busy city commuting. It's quite forgiving but stock tyres are garbage especially in the wet, get something like Michelin city grips instead. Also the short wheel base makes the handling quite quick but also not that stable under hard braking (abs might be different). Also have an R3 and the grom is definitely better around the city - R3 is a bit frustrating in heavy traffic and power is at the top of rev band so youre constantly thrashing it in 1st and 2nd which gets a bit tiring. Neither would be good on the highway!
To be honest..its uncomfetable seat is a dismal fail..it has you sliding into the tank..hard work flogging the gears to stay ahead of traffic. Its big attraction is ease of handling eg parking, lane splitting ..loading onto pick up etc. The horn button smothers the indicator button , indicators dont self cancel, rear brake is not great. And aftermarket pipe helps cars hear youre pressance and half the wieght of the original spark arrestor monstrosity pipe. Light is pathetic..and permanantly glowing front indicators confuse both rider and traffic not in a good way. Wished Id bought the Kawasaki auto version lighter easier. Ps Rear fender wieghs a ton..def buy a "tail tidy"
My first (and current) motorcycle is a 2017 Honda Rebel 500. My goal is to either trade in the Rebel for an Indian Scout 60 or get it as a second bike......but I WILL get a Honda Grom and KEEP IT!
I once got a ticket in NJ for "accelerating faster than required" in my 1970 Plymouth Fury 440 magnum. I did not spin the tires nor break any speed limits, just accelerated too fast for the officer that wrote the ticket's tastes. Went to court and, of course, the Judge agreed with the officer that I accelerated too fast even though it was a bright and sunny day. It had stock exhausts, was not loud and none of that mattered so, you can get a ticket for acceleration even with no wheel spin or wheelie involved.
I have the Z125 and couldn’t be happier with it. They’re fun to mod and a blast to ride. I’m not sure why you’re making out at 52 but I hit 60+ on my Z all the time unless it’s steep uphill. Super scary on the highway but that’s not what they’re intended for. And yes, the Z125 is my only bike! So take that :P
Great video, I've been riding for 35 years and tired of riding big heavy bikes. I've been looking for something for riding around town and wanted to check out a grom, I'm seriously thinking about buying one of these, very helpful video..
My Grom is bone stock, I get to 55mph no issue. And I am 6'1' 300lbs, with broad shoulders. I bought mine as a commuter between home and work. Found out shortly after that these things had such a huuuge following. Sadly it is my only Motorcycle, and I get a lot of flack for it sometimes. But I get a lot of respect for the fact that I got it in October and put close to 2k miles on it over the winter. So People who know me always jump in when someone laughs at my Grom.
I truly believe the Grom is the ultimate college kid bike. I live around University of South Carolina see all these kids riding mopeds and often think why don't you just buy a grom you would have so much more fun!
Having been a rider since age 14 (50 yrs) and with bikes #9 (an FJR sport tourer) and #10 (450cc dirt bike) currently in the garage, I'm starting to look very seriously at a Grom ABS. Just wanting to downsize back into carefree fun with lower seat height, mass and center of gravity, having both feet down at stoplights, etc. My preference is country roads anyway, so 45 mph will work just fine. (Proof: The FJR is covered in gravel road dust and putts along happily at 45 mph/2000-ish rpm in 5th gear when I'm by myself on the backroads. It does quickly get wallowy in thick, loose gravel though, so have to be watchful for that.) This video made me laugh out loud when you said the Grom is a great addition to one's fleet of bikes, but not as an ONLY bike. Replying to the question someone might ask about riding motorcycles and saying to them "I have a Grom" not being an acceptable answer cracked me right up! Thanks for the Bible verse too. I'm one of your brothers, friend. Simply hoping to meet Lord Jesus by not awakening one morning in my bed rather than having brought a motorcycle to a car fight. Been close a couple of times. Always wear all the gear. Buy ABS if it's offered. Random oil slick at a stoplight and invisible sand on blacktop can quickly/surprisingly wash out a front tire contact patch no matter how careful one is with the right hand lever.
I think the Grom will be one of the bikes I will add to my collection and keep. They look incredibly fun and certainly an experience everyone should have. I've even seen that there were two guys that decided to tour across America on Groms.
So i was a missionary in Brazil for many years. Small cc bikes dominate the market there. I had a 125cc honda cg, which is similar to a grom with "regular" size tires. In the same way as the grom, it was fun, sipped gas, and the engine was unbreakable. When i actually did break something it was ridiculously cheap. I cracked the turn signal lens on mine when it was parked. I went to a corner store and bought not just the lens cap, but the whole turn signal post, bulb and lens for $2.50! Top speed seemed to be better than the grom though because i could easily do 110km/hr (65 mph ish)
I would actually pick the new version just because of the size. On the old version my legs would stick out from the gas tank, on the new one it is a perfect fit. (I‘m 6‘1“)
I've owned 12 different bikes over my 35 years of riding. Honda 550, BMW 1000, Kawasaki 250, Ducati and a mix of everything else, however this is the MOST FUN you can have on a bike. Easy to ride, cheap, fun and 55 mph. The only things wrong with this bike? It has a 1960's 125cc and a 4 speed transmission. The Lifan 150cc is the same type bike with a 5 speed and is $1600 less with VERY good quality as well.
I wouldn't care about displacement. I'd just ask for more HP. More displacement would add more weight which would ruin part of the bikes fun factor. A better idea is to improve the engine and add more gears to the transmission. Kawasaki makes a 125cc Ninja for Europe and the UK that has 15hp. Why can't honda put DOHCs and 4 valves on the grom with a higher top rpm. You could change the bore and stroke to be more oversquare and add a 5 speed at the least. That is all I would do to the grom's stock arrangement.
@@theq4602 There no easy way to add more power to the Grom without adding more weight. The Ninja 125 you mentioned... guess what? Its liquid cooled. Adding liquid cooling to a currently air cooled bike will add more weight, even if to keep the displacement the same. Honda had a CBR125R, which is more or less like the Ninja 125 you mentioned. It generated around 13.8 hp, and that was also liquid cooled. Im sure if Honda wanted to, they could get the Grom up to 15 hp and add more gears, and such, but all that would make the bike more expensive, and maybe Honda wants to keep the price lower as a more entry level bike. That might be why.
I've owned a couple Sportsters, Liter sport bikes, "real bikes" I guess you'd call them, ha, ha. My GROM is hands down the most fun I've ever had riding a motorcycle! A few add on engine mods and it gets my 250lb sexy Dad bod up to 68mph. Still wouldn't ride it on the highway though. "You ride motorcycles?" "Yeah, I've got a GROM" "That's just not a proper answer." That made me laugh, because it's true. #gromsquad
I giggled a little, 'cept my GROM is the only bike I've ever had(at 40+years old)..! I do have over 20k on the odometer if that counts for anything....
@@staunchtortoise1492 It had a Yoshimura exhaust and Chimera intake on it when I bought it. I put a 14T front sprocket, TB cam and DHM reflashed ECU. Cam and reflash made a big difference.

@@Snowburnt thanks for the reply Eric. Would you recommend one for a first bike? I’ve just passed my CBT which a U.K. basic license before I do my full bike test. I’ve been driving cars for over 20 years, but want too get some road bike experience on something lower powered. My biggest fear of doing by direct bike test is I go and buy something like a 600/700cc bike and end coming off, due not having the experience on a bike. I’ve been searching high and low for what bike to get and it seems the Honda Grom is the one too go for. Not only are good bikes, they look and sound cool, once you get rid of the factory exhaust and fit your own, which I will do if I buy one🙂👍🏻
@@matty6848 It's a very good beginning bike. You just need to watch out for the other dangerous drivers. Here in America, people just don't care. As long as you don't go on any major highway, you should be good.
Holy crap bro I was not expecting to recognize everywhere you went. I’m from the same area, go to the nook everyday. So I’m looking for a new commuter, new to bikes. I love the verses and short message you put into your vid, keep up the good work :)
I’m thinking about getting one. I ride dirt bikes but I’ve always said o won’t ride a street bike. But I like how small and underpowered it is so I don’t get carried away and act stupid. I would mainly use it to go ride around more scenic parts of the city early weekend mornings. I definitely don’t want something to go on the highway or to ride around during more busier parts of the day/week. Just for fun really while I can’t tear up the dirt.
Looking in to buying a Grom. The moment you referenced scripture and your church you earned my subscription. Thanks for the awesome video! Think I’m going to pull the trigger on one of these bad boys. God Bless!
You should have put a second pin for advanced riders too. They're actually difficult to wheelie without proper technique but they make you learn the right way.
The Honda Grom is not the best beginner motorcycle from a financial point of view: it's too expensive for it's size (is around 3500$ with paper work), low performance, and 4 gears only. That engine could be stretched quite a bit more and still last a very long time. From a technical driving point of view, is one of the obvious choices for beginners, i agree with that. Driving that i almost like driving your mountain bike with wide snow-tires and a 100 pound backpack on your back. For a low performance, low price, 5 gears-speed, i would choose a 1000$ cheaper bike, like the Benelli 125 TNT. You guys, have a great week! ;)
i love the fact that you stay true to your religion and tried to bring what you consider light to people but are not forceful at all! give them the choice!
I'm not religious (don't believe in God) but always like the words of wisdom. I respect Shaun for not being afraid to do the words of wisdom in this woke age where there is oppression and suppression of (white straight) Christian culture.
And here I came for knowledge on the Grom and feel the voodoo is a distraction similar to people injecting politics into a football game. But hey, no disrespect to each his own
I had a YSR in the 80's that I put a tricked out YZ-80 motor in. The thing was a handful. It was actually hard to keep the front tire on the ground. I have been looking at Grom's just to play around on. I have a few regular motorcycles in the garge, but the Grom reminds me of a cool little toy like the YSR, but more comfortable.
When I did the motorcycle safety course I was given this bike. I hated it the fact the seat height was 32 inch and I’m only 4’10 so I was always tiptoeing on this. I later found a Honda rebel that was perfect for short riders like me.
Very cool. I’m 57 years old, 6’4” and 300#, and I would love to have one for skooting around the neighborhood. Since I was in my 30s, I’ve been interested in buying an old Trail 70. This could scratch that itch, and would be cheaper than buying a fully restored Trail 70. On a side note, I know there are Chinese clones of the old bike, with bigger engines, electric start, etc. Noodling around, it seems the Lifan Trail Buddy has had some good reviews. They can be bought new for as little as $1200, but I’m a bit concerned about quality and repairs. I’d love to see SRK do a review and test ride on a new Chinese Trail clone.
My son just bought a Chinese "Grohm" a few weeks ago as his first bike and he absolutely LOVES it!!! It's a perfect bike to learn proper riding techniques and rider safety. I also love to rip around on it and I've been riding 25+yrs...too much fun!!
If you do a exhaust/air box mod(who does not)-More air also needs more fuel.Take injector out and replace with Honda Pcx150 injector, works on my 2017 Msx125.
I have a 2022. 5th gear gives you a little more top end. I’m 5’9 200lbs and I can cruise mine 55-60 without an issue. I can get more speed if I tuck down. Fastest I’ve had it is 69. Not as slow as some of the videos I’ve seen make it look. Just have to learn how to squeeze every bit out of it. Drafting cars is super fun and efficient as well lol Driving mine mostly on open country roads, I don’t get near the MPG as people boast about. I get around 110mpg. If you just drive around town and don’t run it over 45 I could see getting more
So I recently had a "midlife experience" and I bought a ssr 125 pit bike to cruise around on and now I'm realling wishing I would have got a grom. Another couple g's and I could be enjoying my town and city driving without having to worry about taking back roads and avoiding johnny fed.
It's amazing how much Honda has tweaked the bike since then, and given it a fifth gear. It seems like that made all the difference and turning the Grom into damn near a bike that could pull speed limit on most highways, even though you wouldn't want to make a habit of it.
"We were gonna do a 0-60, but the camera only has so much storage..."

I've been commuting my Grom daily, wide open, for 3+ years and never had an issue. I can ride it year round here in TX and it costs nothing to run and maintain. A+ would recommend, especially in this economy.
That bible verse surprised me. I wasn’t expecting that. I needed to see that, thank you sir

Amen! Me too. I was looking for a bike to learn how to drive a 125cc in Cambodia for mission trips. I watch this video and there is scripture. God, thank you.

Man of faith doing all the info stuff but without the trash. Thanks for being family friendly me and my 15 yr old both are new riders finding common ground on the Grom!
I’ve owned my Grom a year now and I absolutely love it so much fun to ride and I get around 140mpg. It’s my first bike, I’m in the UK and only have a CBT. Put so many mods onto it already and I don’t plan on stopping anytime soon.
Thinking of getting a grom, what’s the max speed you’ve had out of yours mate?
Out here in CA, your bike must be 150cc or bigger to go on the freeway. That Grom is not legal on the CA freeways. But in reality, since the LA freeways are always jammed, a Grom would be a great lane splitter!!!!
Whos gonna know its 125 tho
What do you ride? I plan on driving a 250cc, in LA myself not sure if it suitable for it (beginner rider)
I see a lot of people riding them on the freeway in the bay area. Police never once bother them from what I’ve seen. Works absolutely amazing for lane splitting
get a Spade...
I was just gonna say the fastest you go on the freeway in California is 10-15 mph cuz of the traffic
My brother in law bought one for his first starter bike. It has served him very well over the years. I'm even considering getting one for my son's first street legal bike...
Eeyore good choice!

I love small cc bikes, have 250 and 300cc bikes. Nothing wrong with smaller cc bikes. Having a lightweight bike is a blessing not a curse

Would be insane to see you make one of these little guys as fast as possible without pulling out that little 125 .

Make sure you upgrade the oil pump to pick up from the back of the case. If you’re on one wheel it doesn’t get oil.
Post a picture of the Grom that had the windshield bags and tank bag. That has to be a laugh. This would be a great bike for the back of a RV to be able to ride around town.
There are guys going RTW on Groms.
Heck, it’s so small you could just put it IN the RV
The bigger question is.. _Why not?_
This thing is
Fun
Cheap
Durable
Customizable
Efficient
Easy to ride
Perfect for commutes
If you don't have one, you are missing out.
If you're worried about looking silly on it, no one cares. People go out of their way to ask what it is and they love it
20 minutes after i bought it and loaded it on the truck for transport an older gentleman took several photos of it while i was getting food at a Wendys.
He waited for me to return and asked what it was and where i got it.
I have been having the same experience and honestly I don't care what other people think, I've owned a McLaren before and didn't care what people thought then, the grom is just pure fun!
The beattitudes!! God bless you brother!
I love my grom. It looks amazing, super comfortable, people love it, not intimidating and it's perfect to learn on. I even lowered mine
How did you lower it? I'm 4'11" and want to make sure it'll fit me! Haha
I've owned and rode everything from 80cc dirt bikes to 1000 cc sport bikes and the Grom is by far the funnest, most dependable bike I've rode yet.
I wish I had a Grom for the safety classes. I had a big adventure bike that definitely made the advanced courses harder than they had to be.
That Scripture mid video was fantastic! Well done.
You took a Grom out on 283 in the rain?! Brave man, Bro.
Driving home one night on my 2017 grom, a driver turned left in an intersection when I had the right of way and completely smoked me. Lucky to be alive. I miss mine and I wish I could ride again not worth it though.
If you haven't the heart for it your better off if you don't
I've got a125 pcx. Love it 20k miles going strong. Would like to upgrade to a newer 150 eventually.
When I was 11 my dad bought me a grom to ride around the yard, funnest thing ever
The Reviewer Why do you care?
I've had mine about 3 years, great bike for busy city commuting. It's quite forgiving but stock tyres are garbage especially in the wet, get something like Michelin city grips instead. Also the short wheel base makes the handling quite quick but also not that stable under hard braking (abs might be different). Also have an R3 and the grom is definitely better around the city - R3 is a bit frustrating in heavy traffic and power is at the top of rev band so youre constantly thrashing it in 1st and 2nd which gets a bit tiring. Neither would be good on the highway!
I second the City Grips. I put City Grip II's on mine and I'm so glad I did.
Will buy the city grips if i survive till stocks worn down
My first (and current) motorcycle is a 2017 Honda Rebel 500.
I’ve always wanted one for commuting around town.
Would be a blast. I hoon around town on my Ninja 300 or my KLX250, perfect size. The Grom would probably be even better.

Im a fat guy. I want one.
whoever laughs at a grom must not have ever riden one, I have been absolutely loving mine! I ride it all around town
I truly believe the Grom is the ultimate college kid bike. I live around University of South Carolina see all these kids riding mopeds and often think why don't you just buy a grom you would have so much more fun!
I needed to hear that bible verse!!! Thank you! God works in mysterious ways.
It does quickly get wallowy in thick, loose gravel though, so have to be watchful for that.)
This video made me laugh out loud when you said the Grom is a great addition to one's fleet of bikes, but not as an ONLY bike.
That's definitely my kinda fun to ride a Grom across country 😃
So i was a missionary in Brazil for many years. Small cc bikes dominate the market there. I had a 125cc honda cg, which is similar to a grom with "regular" size tires. In the same way as the grom, it was fun, sipped gas, and the engine was unbreakable. When i actually did break something it was ridiculously cheap. I cracked the turn signal lens on mine when it was parked. I went to a corner store and bought not just the lens cap, but the whole turn signal post, bulb and lens for $2.50! Top speed seemed to be better than the grom though because i could easily do 110km/hr (65 mph ish)
i saw a group of about seven YZRs rip down my street back in the day. it was hilarious. never saw them again which was even weirder
This will be my 3rd bike. MT09. ZX14R. And now adding a Grom to the fleet! Couldn't be more excited.
I wish honda makes 200cc grom.
Needs to be either a 5 speed or better a 6 speed manual for better top speed and also make the grom a highway classified motorcycle.
That's gonna be next after they've made all they can off the 125cc's....then a 250cc after the 200cc

" I've got a a GrOM... Not a proper answer" 😂
I'm 4'11 and a beginner too so i think this is the best choice bike for me.
You guys, have a great week! ;)

Wish there was not a huge up charge on them here in Guam. It would be great for the low speed roads and close distances coupled with high gas prices.
The Grom from Guam ….hmmmmmm???........I like that!
It's amazing how much Honda has tweaked the bike since then, and given it a fifth gear. It seems like that made all the difference and turning the Grom into damn near a bike that could pull speed limit on most highways, even though you wouldn't want to make a habit of it.
