    Hey Steve - I'm not a flight-sim guy at all (despite being retired AF). I just wanted to mention that despite my lack of interest in flying, I really enjoy your hardware coverage, even on products like this. The flight-sim community is one of the most passionate and I assume skews towards an older demographic since it requires a non-trivial investment. You guys are really pushing VR hardware development and I find your commentary very informative. That's it-I just figured it proper to extend sincere positive feedback to let you know that you're producing meaningful content.

    Great video, Steve. I am almost ashamed to admit that I am still using a joystick for my flying. But most of my flying is either gliders or jets, so I guess it is OK. But it would be amazing to try something like this some time. But I think my next 2 big investments will be the 5090 and the Dof. Unless I win a lot in lotto and I can upgrade the whole lot for 10k or something like that. That being said, some of the satisfaction in acquiring new gadgets lies in the saving and prioritizing. You are lucky to be able to try all this out, but you have put in your almost unfair share of blood, sweat, tears, hours and money into your channel, so it is VERY well deserved. Take care, my friend. Love from Norway ♥♥♥♥♥

      I was thinking about that. The VR headset, motion rig and force feedback control makers should all consider partnering up for the expos and offering extra units for demo purposes. Giving people a taste of the ultimate sim experience would probably help get them hooked.

    As FFB Yoke is too expensive for me I modded my Honeycomb Alpha Yoke by installing a cheap AliExpress linear actuator driven by a mini stepper motor. It moves the pitch axis neutral point allowing trimming by feel, like in the small GA plane.

    • @lurchilurch5507
      @lurchilurch5507 Місяць тому +1

      That's cool. How does the actuator know your current trim setting? Are you reading out the sim vars into its somehow?

    • @StekuVideo
      @StekuVideo Місяць тому +1

      It doesn't. The trim switch on the yoke (the left hand side part of the dual Alpha switch) was rewired and controls only the actuator without passing any control signals to the sim.

      @@VRFlightSimGuy Yeah I think it was Immersion Corp they owned a whole bunch of different FFB patents until 2019, but there were others that also stopped anything like this in development. They sued Microsoft and Sony back in like 2000 and there has been nothing in the market since. I've had FFB on the driving sim forever and I can't imagine not having this FFB. It was always missing from flight sims and I'm so happy these products have started to hit the market now

    I've just ordered the Moza FFB Stick Base yesterday, despite the lack of information regarding the software. As Moza has been in the FFB business for a while now and is quite a name in simracing, I'm not expecting a bad surprise there. However, my hopes are high that they are working on a Yoke too, would be nice to have both types of controls using the same software. For now, I've got to go and buy some beautiful warbirds for the meantime :P

    Great video as usual!
    I noticed your hands when holding the yoke are much higher up than in other videos. I know it is high because of the base of the FFB yoke. Wouldn’t it be nice if the guys from FliteSim would give us the option to turn it upside down? This would give us more options to choose the yoke height.

    I went ahead and ordered one. So many FFB flight controls coming out now and later this year, it's fantastic. Getting the authentic experience plus the ability to train with one is tough to pass up at the current price (even if it is a decent chunk of change).
    They're also going to be releasing FFB rudder pedals in Q4 as well. I hope they're similarly cheaper than the competition (which right now I think is just Brunner at over $2k).

      Good question in regards ffb yokes.. in regards ffb joysticks.. it's taken so long to get decent ffb joysticks (like the ffbeast and moza that are only just coming out now too) because Microsoft had a patent on ffb joysticks in general that lasted 20 years since the Microsoft sidewinder force feedback 2 came out 22/23 years ago but thankfully that patent has now expired allowing other companies to finally evolve the technology.. maybe that patent somehow applied to yokes too

    Did you end up with overlap in the front and rear of the table with that 400mm aluminum piece? IE: before the yoke was flush with the dof "table" front, now it sticks out in both the front and rear? I'd say if was flush in the front you'd have around 7.5" sticking out in the rear, maybe too much flex ? Guessing you have overlap on the left too, or the quadrant wouldnt still fit next to the cls60? (3"? )

    2:05 To be fair do you really need a yoke? Moza just anoced their FFB base for joysticks will be $500 and you can get older FFB sticks like the MS side winder 2 for $60... SAnd if you want the full force version you can get custom ones for $800 like FBBeast... So yeah while you right for a yoke there is nothing at that value point... But do you really need a yoke? Can't deny a ffb joystick is still far more versatile than a yoke though... can be used with helicopters and virtually all combat flight sims and military aircraft as well as many other GA aircraft so you're getting more bang for your buck but understand a yoke for someone who prefers GA fixed wing specifically makes sense.. each to their own but personally GA fixed wing doesn't interest me.. I'm a real world helicopter pilot and rotary wing GA is the most fun I can have in real life but to beat that for the most fun in the sim world combat flying (being able to blow up and shoot stuff) adds the extra fun I'll likely never be able to do in real life so the ffb joystick will be by next investment looking at the moza or ffbeast (ffbeast proven to already add a lot of immersion to both fixed but also rotary wing flying virtually used as a cyclic and I'm sure the same will be true for the moza too once the reviews come out).. will you be getting the moza or ffbeast at any point Steve to review?
