“The japanee”
😂
I caught that too lmaooo
Yeah why does he keep saying that
"Where you get that Japanee, Danny?"
I love how the subtitles say ese even tho no s was ever said
the amount of money i would pay for them to do dedicated history podcasts while shane explains things in details and matt interjects with glorious takes like “wasn’t pearl harbor like one or two planes”
Join up with history for foos
Bi does mean two soo
its amazing how dog brained matt is on history
Genuinely. Every once in awhile Shane will get something wrong and Matt has absolutely no clue
I think if they made it a real thing, they need one actual historian. I love Shane's takes, but there should be someone who is actually studied to act as a baseline.
I could listen to Shane talk about history for hours. So damn good.
General Shane can tuck me into my bunk anytime.
A guy with down's talking about things he knows nothing about. He drank the Allied kool aid.
@@PostSassoallied Kool-Aid? What are you? A weeabo? Wehraboo? Russophile? I get Shane not being a damn history major, but what do you mean exactly?

Does he lol 😂
Or even Harry Carey. haha
I love how Shane went to school for history and how he combines his education on history with a lot of his comedy. It's refreshing to have a comedian who can tell the regular. Types of jokes and then transitions to jokes about history. So your learning shit while your laughing
this is a win win. as I get older I like really dig history. then with Shane's sense of humor sprinkled in is the icing on the cake. hope there's more to come!
Yeah, you gotta kinda have a sense of humor because history isn’t always a fun time
He’s a history nerd just like we are, it makes his comedy even funnier. I didn’t go to school for history, but it’s a real passion of mine, especially WWII history. You have to know what he’s talking about to truly appreciate it. Shane is brilliant and hilarious.
Yeah ww2 is prob my favorite history subject.
Ww2 had everything.
Religion, ideology, genocide, tons and tons of new weapons and guns , rockets , jets , air to air combat. Dogi fighting., spies, double agent spies , code breaking , submarines Sea, land and air battles multiple countries fighting and changing sides through the war. It was probably the most active the world had ever been in modern times for 7 years
@mikerage1011 It’s even cooler when you consider the technological advancements we made as a result of the war. Jet engines, practical rocket engines, computers, nuclear weapons… it’s amazing. It’s just crazy to think about how much progress we made as a result of conflict. God, I’m such a dork, but I love it. It hasn’t even been one century and look at how far we’ve come. Maybe Moore’s Law applies to everything, we’ll be on Mars in 3 more decades.
That Carlin impression at 31 min is so spot on. That guy has woken me up on the edge of sleep so many times lol
Shane Gillis does the best impressions I’ve ever heard. Most people think that his Trump impression is AI, he should try to get a role as a voice actor.
My friends and I do Carlin impressions all the time haha. “Now I’m no historian” “Quantity has a quality all its own” “This is like Mike Tyson vs Mohammed Ali” etc.
I listen to Hardcore History while jogging and I always have to yank the volume down when he’s in quote mode 😂
Thank you for the timestamp, I've been searching for this impression for days
That Dan Carlin impression is gold. So amazing to have Shane explain things I nerd out on. He needs to start a podcast called Half-Ass History
Agreed, gotta smash some budlights on the cast too.
Half assed history is already a great pod
yah off the top of his head this is prett ygood. Seems right from my memory but I'm no expert. But he seems to actually know the topic

If this is how history was taught in schools I would've paid more attention.
I think the biggest luxury Ive had in my life is good teachers at school.
I was blessed most of them rocked and made me want to learn.
Or you could not be lazy by relying on being spoon fed everything , how many books have you read that wasn't an autobiography or Mando from school?
Pearl Harbor was 2 planes? Shane couldn’t even process that question. lol

The Japanese in WWII conscipted thousands of Koreans, Chinese, and other conquered peoples to fight for the empire. These conscripts were often used as prison camp guards, defensive troops, etc. They were forced into service by the Japanese threatening to wipe out their families if they refused to serve.
thanks youtube for recommending me this channel. an absolute gem.
I always look for my Dad in these films of American prisoners of war. He was captured by the Japanese in the Philippines and survived the Bataan Death March, the infamous Hell Ships, torture, starvation and being a slave in Mitsubishi coal mines. He died after attending a POW reunion in 1979

My grandad was at Pearl Harbor when it was attacked. He was like a naval bombardier on a 2 seater plane. He was very fortunate to have gone to town when the attack happened. During his time in combat he had been shot down twice. Survived both of those. Though on one of them, he had to spend a week and a half on a life raft in the ocean, with his dead pilot on the raft with him. My grandad refused to pitch him over. He wanted him taken back home to his family. My grandad passed away back in 1987, or '88. I was only like 13 or 14 at the time. Unfortunately my grandad absolutely did not like discussing his time fighting in WW2. Not with his wife, or his son (my dad) or anyone else that we know of. It is a huge regret of my dad's that he couldn't get him to open up more about those times just so we would know that history, which is now lost forever.
Im a Japanese American and some of my family was living on Oahu when it happened. got sent back to japan but the rest of my family whp owned farmland near Monterey CA got sent to the camps. everyone in my family was trying to escape imperial japan and completey disagreed with the war. My grandfather who survived the carpet bombings in tokyo when he was 8 years old joined the US Navy and did two deployments after family finally got resettled in San Francisco!

Dude this is absolutely the best thing I've ever stumbled upon!😂😂😂
Admiral Isoroku Yamamoto, educated in America, was in command of the Imperial Japanese Navy and oversaw the attack on Pearl Harbor. He is quoted as saying, "In the first six to twelve months of a war with the United States and Great Britain, I will run wild and win victory upon victory. But then, if the war continues after that, I have no expectation of success." He also said, "You cannot invade the mainland United States. There would be a rifke behind every blade of grass."
"The blades of grass"is an often repeated yet unsubstantiated quote by Yamamoto.
Most historians say its bogus.
But 2A champions love to repeat it.
Much like the "sleeping giants" quote, there is no evidence Yamamoto said that either.
In fact, Japan never had ambitions for even reaching mainland US. Their primary goal was to secure the SRA (Southern Resources Area) Phillipines, Borneo, Indonesia.
