- Shortcuts define Mario Kart Wii. Players use shortcuts to complete various tracks in unbelievable ways, whether it's to save 1 second or 90. However, there's a huge lack of interest in Mario Kart Wii's terrible shortcuts... the ones that don't save time, but LOSE time. In this video, I'll be showing off some of the worst "shortcuts" Mario Kart Wii has to offer... though I'm sure I've barely scratched the surface.

A shortcut runners biggest drawback is playing the game legit lol. It's like learning how to ride a bike after breaking your legs and recovering for 20yrs. I saw the pain. I feel you bro.

I can't even do most of the shortcuts on DDR properly and that's another reason why I hate it and why it's my least favorite track give or take along with Sherbet Land.
There's just so much stuff you need to learn to play it properly, I don't blame you

@@beanzard64 Thanks Bean I appreciate it. The ultra I can't do because you don't have enough time to react on the 3rd part which I can't do unless I cut off slightly less, the sandhop I can't do properly half the time because I sometimes I either don't get air, I hit the cactus, or I hit the wall on the other side. The only shortcut I can do properly at times on DDR is the lake jump which is the one I primarily used by the time I was done TTing it.

For Mario Circuit, you could've just taken the ramp 'shortcut'. It's actually slower than taking the turn normally lol.
The ramp saves time if you get a low trick
I feel like there could be some hideous respawn shortcuts on Ghost Valley and you could practically just go for driving Mario Raceway in a straight line.
Wouldn't mind a part 2 of this.
This was fun but a version of “worst shortcuts” where the risk of attempting the shortcut almost always outweighs the reward would be SWEET! (Obviously this wouldn’t apply to attempting PBs/WRs, more of a casual play perspective)

That would be cool to see! There have actually been some TASers that have managed to do a version of it that saves a bunch of time
@@beanzard64 I did dome "How to Play X" TAS for MKWii Tracks the MG one also cut at the same Position. It just fun to mess arround with Tas and do some Wild Stuff. For a content Idea, have you ever seen the Mkwii Bumpfest Videos? 2 Players 1 Lightweight in Quacker and 1 Heavy weight in Piranha Kart when thr heavy one hits the light one with speed while while the lightone also gets hit by a fake item box u can do some while stuff. Get some out of bounds or short cuts
Not sure if there's already a video about this but what I thought this video was going to be after reading the title is ranking all the commonly used shortcuts, but be showing the shortcuts that barely save any time (like the 2 mushroom pads on the left at the begining of mushroom george). Understandably that video idea could probally take some time to make. I've always wondered how much time some shortcuts actually save. (Another example, shroomless daisy circuit offload ramp)
There are definitely a bunch of real shortcuts that just barely save time.

One could argue that, by landing back on the ground earlier, I actually drove more of the track than if I had bounced off the mushroom, therefore not taking a shortcut
Hey Bean im not able to play mario kart online and playing offline is simply not hard at times. Do you have any challenges or fun things to do in mario kart while offline?
I'd recommend playing Time Trials. There are lots of tracks (as well as glitches) to play, and there's always the incentive to keep getting better by beating your own times. It's a lot of fun!

Yeah, there's a TAS that does a similar shortcut, but it's actually really fast

I wouldn't say so. It may be faster, but it doesn't actually cut off any of the track.

There's a custom online server called Wiimmfi, it supports a bunch of DS and Wii games including Mario Kart Wii.
