I just want to say THANK YOU. You are the best. I just finished changing the rotors and pads on my 2019 X5. Thank you for explaining the tools. I purchased everything from Amazon. I used a Milwaukee impact. Just one FYI. The bottom bolt on one of my calipers seized. I was able to take off the top bolt. I took the break lines off the hook. I used a rubber mallet to beat the caliper and rotate down enough to squeeze out the rotor. Just a major FYI to anyone trying this
Hey friend - I’m tackling this over the coming weekend. I read something about engaging the parking break before turning on the car. Is that right? Did you do anything like that?
Thank you so much for posting this video. I just needed to make sure there wasn’t some crazy-special tool needed. - I’ll be checking in with your channel for any of my other maintenance.

I had the vehicle on a lift, but you can use the parking brake (it only holds the rear brakes) to keep the car from rolling away. Then work on one side at a time up front. Good luck, no worries.
Brake caliper piston spreader tool. I use one like this. EWK Brake Caliper Press Tool Piston Spreader Pad 360 Degree Swing Ratchet a.co/d/8e3aDyk Amazon has a bunch of different varieties.
@@rgeier11I see where I went wrong. The inner and outer pads ARE different. Fixed my mistake. By the way, I think your video is the ONLY video on UA-cam that shows these specific brakes on this body style BMW. Thank you so much!

Great job. You make it look easy. I guarantee I will make it look hard when I attempt it.
I’m a diva and only work on a lift these days, so your experience will differ. Good luck brother!
Doing this maintenance this Friday thank you man 😊
Thanks brother. Gonna do a brake job on the wife’s car soon
We're the rest of the process?

Getting the NEW pads into the pistons made me question my life choices. Jesus Christ.
@@mikemike388 God bless. Sounds like you eventually got the caliper to seat. Maybe the brake pads were slightly thicker than OEM?
