You Sir , are my favorite mechanic , especially for Ford brand , now u just stepped up even more in my eyes , Bike repairs and reconditioning , I purely love your content ( sorry for my bad English )
Busy times for you Alan. Seeing those people riding without helmets prompted me to check RTA related deaths in Philippines.. 13k deaths every year, and 12/100k inhabitants is Asia's average.. twice as much as in Europe though but only half as much as Africa! You're looking good so retirement obviously serves you well! 😊👍
Cracking vid again Al, all that work done on ya bike for £20 quid !!! As you say, not worth getting your hands dirty, looks like your doing well, have fun on the bike...
don't worry, your probably like the rest of us, stuck between a rock and a hard place. if your in the uk then yeah I totally get it...the communists are encroaching into every aspect of our lives and not for the better. I will say if you can, switch off the news for a while and go somewhere outside of the uk and relax. I have to go back to the uk soon for a while but plan to retire out here, its daunting but worth the risk, take care Pete
Please wear helmet at least, true story I am 58 been riding and racing motorbikes since 4 years old and long story short 16 months ago was just out on my Superbike literally doing 40mph when a pheasant flew out of a field slammed in my helmet lodge in my helmet I never even seen it coming sent me into on coming traffic went down the side of a car wrote the car off then head on into a large van ,60 ft up the road I'm on my back awake through it all broke my left femur in half both shoulders right ankle my neck and ribs and I had all the gear on and thank god I did ,now full of tittainium !!! Yes sure was a freak accident and I used to do 15/20 k a year on bikes all weather and only just back walking so please 🙏 be mindful take care and good luck....love this channel ❤
Blasted pheasants are too idle to fly most of the time so never take off very well . Sounds an awful experience as a fellow motorcycle full licence holder. Hope you recover fully and get back on.
Bike carbs were always problematic until fuel injected bikes came along. The Honda Wave FI was designed to resolve all these carb issues and now its a non issue. The Wave has a fuel pump that sits in the fuel tank, attached in a large fuel filter that looks like a sanitary towel, so dirty fuel and fuel related issues are no longer an issue. Enjoy your geoarbitrage; make money in a rich country and enjoy a high standard of living in a poor country! Visas are always an issue; need to keep your options open and move on to another country if the country you are staying in makes things difficult; been through this many times in Thailand.
Philippines Law Mandated 10% Ethanol in gasoline. Cause of carburettor clogs . Bernoulli principle. Fuel injection is the cure. But we would be better off getting the pure gasoline back. I worry for small fishermen who get carburettor problems because of ethanol . They might not get back home and carried away by the current or wind. The small outrigger boats use lawnmower type engines. Carburettor.
I wish my car repairs were has cheep it recently cost me £200 to have my 2015 Astra j brake pads replaced but on the other hand l had the Glow plugs replaced a few months back I was lucky and the car I not fited with the pressure sensor type £110 to replace all 4 at one time I would do the work my self but now I just leve it to the garage I got rid of most of my tools but I did fix water getting into the boot which my body shop would not do also my garage so after looking at the problem and and a tube of selent which I put around the light seal and screw grommets and few other places I looks like I have a water tight boot one of my brakes has started to squeal a bit now when I did the work my self I never had problems my car is due for a service I will mention it he will probably fix it he is ok that way happy motorcycle the weather in the UK is not for rideing motorcycles I keep thinking of getting one again but haveing plenty of near miss with idiots when out in my car I think I will be sticking with it now it's safer
yeah the uk is just so expensive now and the service is not that good either, just how much they can get away with, don't see many bikes in the uk either, not anymore, back in the 70s and 80s plenty of bikes and motorcycle shops, just seems to have died a death there now...and yeah the weather does not help
No brainer that Alan, bargain! Safe bike, cheap price, win win! I had to stamp my passport in Bahrain every 28 days in Saudi, I was working there, everybody working there I met from the Uk had a temporary visa stuck in their passport, which just said reason for being here "Business meetings" ! A lot of business meetings! 😆
I'm sorry, but for the sake of your viewers, you are mistaken regarding the "drivers side" mirror having Lefthand thread. Someone has obviously put the levers on the wrong side because, if you think about it logically, (and this is why they are different) when you are "riding" the bike, the wind pressure pushing on them, the way yours are fitted, it can UN-screw them both. However, when fitted correctly .... left hand thread on the left side & right hand thread on the right, the wind pressure actually tightens them both as you ride. Pleased you got the bike sorted anyway ...👍 stay safe 🙏
I'm sorry but for the sake of the zero viewers who would care, you might want to go back and rethink what you have just wrote. if you tried to swap the levers around then the mirrors would be upside down underneath the handle bars so please go and have another think about it😊
@@alan4x ....Hi Alan, Yes I did think of that, and then deleted my comment, but then as the video progressed, I thought I could see another post underneath the clamp part making them universal. So if I have that wrong, I apologise for putting that on your site. I will of course remove it! However, what I said about the Left & Right hand thread certainly was true of my 1973 Yamaha 850 & I believe 60's Honda's. Right I've Deleted My comment if you would like to remove your reply too.

Really!! A mechanic getting someone else to fix there vehicle. I'm a mechanic who's old enough to learn my trade on the original minis, leylands having to strip carbs all day cleaning out dirt in float chambers etc.
Why would you bother at that price doing it youreself plus he's giving those people work = money. I'm sure Tyler will be using them aswell. Good on alan and good on the Philippines people for making some peso
Alan, How often do you need to renew Visa and how much is the cost. I am to move over when i retire if not before and any imformation would be greatly recieved.
hi, can't really answer that as it depends on your circumstances like if you rent a place here it varies from a couple of hundred pounds a month upwards and then food, transport, entertainment etc but I would say for £1k a month you can get by ok whereas for around £2k per month you can live pretty well. I would sugest go for a month holiday to wherever and get a feel for that place as the weather here is hot..all year round, day and night and it can do you in if your not used to it as can the mosquitoes but sure have a go, one thing though, have a good back up plan but if your thinking about it you only live once so even for a holiday its worth getting away from the stresses of normal life, have a good one😊
Hi. I use to watch your videos about Mondeos and i wonder if you could, please, give a tip what's wrong to my Mondeo mk3, 2L petrol, from 2004. When I shift to reverse, the reverse light stays on only if I keep the gear lever pulled towards me, on the RHside (I'm in the UK). Many thanks in advance. I miss your videos about cars.
is your car a manual gears...I would say replace the reverse lamp switch in the gearbox...you can buy them from any motor factors like euro car parts etc
@@alan4x thanks for your reply. Yes, it is manual, I forgot to mention, sorry. I've already replaced the switch with a Lucas one. Still having the problem. Could it be the gear cable? Can it be adjusted ? Could it be the gear mechanism in the gear box???
not the fact here in the eu, i literally bought myself tools and parts to fix my car, it was a old Skoda beater. going to a garage was more expensive, so i did it myself . the labor price here is CRAZY . not in he uk in eastern Europe :))))
So 67p to fix a carb 23 for full set of indicators , amazing so for further comparison, how much was tylers bike ,and how much would you pay there for your 2010 yamaha, if you had to buy it , ? Alans guide to the Philippines
I have a question mate, do you think it will be alright to use a gearbox oil like Ford 75W FE in warmer climates like Philippines, or should I stick with 75w-90? I actually reside in Australia. Where mornings are cold but afternoons are warm.
Hi mate Glad you got your visa extension. I applied for my permanent residency in Manila two months ago and I still don't know either way if it's been accepted or not. I keep checking the website, but still no sign sign of it being accepted or not. The only way you know if it's accepted is when there is a date alongside your application number. The initial 1 year visa took 6 weeks to approve. Anyway, I'm praying it will be approved and it's just a case of Immigration being busy. Great video as always mate. Cheers, Simon
how you doing, yes my acr card took a month to get, I have no clue about permanent residency here but to get a retirement visa don't you have to deposit a sum of money in a phils bank that you can't touch lol, well good job your not on a deadline, reckon its just a slow process out here, have a good one😊
@alan4x Morning mate. Yeah, I think it's around 60K USD to deposit in a bank and not to touch it haha Laid-up with a badly sprained ankle for 3 bloody weeks now so can't do much at the moment. Cheers.
Hi Alan, I would just like to say how much I enjoyed your videos at Steve’s cab service, and now here in the Philippines. The only thing I wanted to say was yourself and your son need to use crash helmets, and to ride the bikes with a bit of respect. I see in this video your son has had a fall from his bike, or it’s been dropped as the front brake lever is already bent. Just saying stay safe and live long. 🤗
Mr mondingo man and Tyler please get a brain bucket before you have an accident 😢 I came off a motorcycle and it was my helmet that saved me 👍🏻 Think of poor Khen and her lovely family if anything should happen to you both 😮Take care cheers Stevie 😎🏴

Wow, thanks. have a smiley day😊
For God's sake Alan get yourself a skid lid, even if it's an open face one. Just think of Tyler or Kenn losing the one they love.
Have you added an inline filter? That will stop further issues in the future, especially with a dirty tank maybe?
Yep was gonna say the same thing , clean the tank out and seal it maybe too if it’s rusty

I think not wearing a helmet set your speed limit below any legal speed limit.
