Antarctica CANCELED - What to Do in Punta Arenas, Chile (Patagonia)

We were supposed to fly to Antarctica from Punta Arenas but ended up getting canceled due to bad weather. So instead we had a few days to spend around the city. We ate a bunch of stuff, walked around, went sight seeing to Fuerte (Fort) Bulnes, and whale watching. Lots of animals and nature to see in the area if you have a few days to spend.

Thanks for the video. Sorry to hear that your Antarctica cruise was cancelled. I found your video searching for whale watching out of Punta Arenas. We are planning on being in the Punta Arenas area JAN2024. I found a company that provides cruises. Yes, i saw the itinerary stating it starts at 4:30 AM. Overall, how do you feel about the experience? Recommend it? Also, thanks for your comments about the Dream Hotel. I'm looking for another place. We are not big into casinos. Hope that your next Antarctica cruise works out.

Hi there! Sorry for the delayed response. Overall the whale watching was as advertised and we did get to see a wide variety of animals. I'd say it was a bit overpriced though and the time involved is rough. If you aren't doing anything else on your trip to see penguins, sea lions, cormorants, etc. then I think it's worth it for the animal encounters. Though of course you'll be a bit far away on the boat. Note that I at least was surprised at how cold it was on the water. And they said the waves can get quite bad and cause sea sickness.

Yes, in fact we actually just got back from taking it and it was great! I'm working on videos outlining that trip now and expect to post the first within the next week here. I'll update this when I do!
