I'm glad you addressed magnet safety. I'm just thinking about getting into this and I didn't even think of the damage of getting a finger caught with one.

He's very interesting and a worldly man. Quite a traveler too. Once you start watching his videos you will be hooked. He finds the nearest stuff. He's a walking history book. Lol. I've learned soooo much. I metal detect and magnet fish as well. I'm hooked now. You will be too. Have fun watching......

In the '70s I worked at a sport fishing marina. There was a gas pump out on the docks. When people stopped there they sometimes worked on their boats. We had a guy who magnet fished for dropped tools and hardware. He got some good stuff.

To avoid the problem with the magnet nut sticking out a bit, first measure the depth with a plastic depth gauge (or just a bit of plastic strip you can mark with a pencil), grind the nut to suit, then have the usual total nightmare getting the bolt in.

Last time i tried doubling magnets... Well one was an earth magnet like the one you have but a bit smaller and the other was a regular magnet, the regular magnet actually flew out my hands and smashed into loads of pieces against the other and actually cut my hand (not badly but could have been a lot worse) so just goes to show how dangerous these things are

I dont know how strong this would be,but since the magnets are counter sunk, how about a counter sink bolt, then put a coupling nut on top with threaded eye on top of coupling, lots of threads involved but if thighten right i think it would work.
