Thank you Tim. As always, you have the most detailed, most up-to-date, and most transparent information about Ford products. I’m really glad to your channel readily available when I want to learn what’s really going on! Keep ‘em coming!
I have a 23 Lightning with Steering Wheel removed. Are you saying that all of the hardware, chips and all, are in place on these early 23 Lightnings and only the software needs to be updated to enable it? Would it be OTA or take to dealer?
My 2023 F150 Lightning Lariat, with extended range battery and max towing package, came with removed Smart Hitch & Onboard Scales, removed Intrusion & Inclination sensors, and removed heated steering wheel. But, I do have the high-mounted cargo camera. It was built in mid-December and I took deliver in mid-January. I want the Smart Hitch & Onboard Scales, but I figured I'd accept it in the hopes it would mean my truck's build wouldn't be delayed. I'm hopeful that I can add it someday. As for the security, there are aftermarket sensors that can be installed and connected to the factory-included security system. Strangely, though, the truck can display pitch & roll on the instrument cluster while driving and that same sensor tech could be used for the security -- detecting attempts to jack-up the truck to steel the wheels or tow away without authorization.
Some how those that are buying, one of the upper trims are not going to want these option removed. Ford needs to get their stuff together! Prices are super high! Personally would be a deal breaker for me .
Tim, clarify the heated steering wheel - I have a 2023 Lightning Pro built at the end of November; it has heated seats but not steering wheel. Was the Pro ever equipped with a heated steering wheel? If so, did I correctly understand that it might be possible to add it back in the future? Also, it is a minor issue, but my Pro didn't come with a cargo net for the frunk. The AM radio deletion is weird and potentially troublesome since many highway information and alert messaging systems use an AM frequency. By the way, I LOVE my Pro.
there are some out there but ford does not offer an aftermarket heated steering wheel. you would most likely need to find one through a 3rd party and work with your service department to get it installed.
I really wanted a F-150 Lightning initially, but I find I want it less and less as Ford fumbles basic manufacturing tasks, and raises prices while removing features. I'd expect this from a company like Tesla...but Ford? Really?
And Tim is like the exact opposite of the horror story 2023 price gouging dealership view that's rightfully out there now. I think people in his sale area should be happy!

Tim, thanks for the update. Another helpful video. Of course, it is disappointing to see this list grow.
Tim thank you again for answering my questions on my Maverick earlier this week
Thank you for the update on the Lightning. I placed my order last week on 8 February 2023.

Heated steering wheel is on the Lariat and Platinum.
Need this for Super Duty
How much are they going to charge us to install our heated steering wheel as a retrofit?

Are all legacy manufacturers this terrible, or just Ford?

But yea.... I didn't think "chip shortage" was still a thing in 2023......
