Anything under 1000 giveth no shame Luke
@Jäger w-what
Under 1000? Points, pounds, or models? hehehe
@@bigbrowntau models :)
Oh cool so as long as it isn't 1000 shipping containers full of mini's and boxes isn't shame worthy
0:17 "My Orc collection... I bought this F'kings o' War." That never gets old. 😆😆😆
I hear it that way too. Took me a moment. :)
I was going to be that guy, but you are that guy, thanks
now I can't un-hear it
Oy! My army is finished... almost... just a couple of minis left... a year later.. Love the time-lapse of the print. And the rest of of course. Thank you for the the lovely video.
@@GeekGamingScenics Still looks lovely :)
@@GeekGamingScenics ha ha! the auto shame
DUDE. That printing timelapse turned out MINT.
The mammoth looks great - don't sell yourself short. Cheers for completed models.
Ooft that magical 3D printing timelapse, exquisite.
Don't call it a pile of shame, that's depressing. I stopped doing it. Call it a "Pile of Potential" that inspires much more positive hobby feelings ;)
It's potentially sitting in a dark cupboard with the potential of getting done 😁😁
the pile of potential is at the hobby shop.
Luke: “Some 3D prints have gaps.”
Me: “Sideways glance at latest project.”
Great video dude, very chill and nice to see you enjoying some hobby time.
I read the “I lied” caption on the thumbnail in Arnold Schwartzeneggers voice from when he drops Sully off the clip in Commando
@@GeekGamingScenics no haha did someone have the same thought?
I never realised you were a fellow leftie until now!
Also you are 100% spot on about the painting to the superhigh standard. The big 'lie' of youtube tutorials by these insanely epic painters is that they are painting 1 or a few display models but you cannot practically do that for 120 chainrasps or 100 zombies or whatever.
Love those printing time lapses, so smooth. Perfect use for the Miliput too, far better than having to spend more resin on a reprint! Seriously cool model too. Great video ;)
@@GeekGamingScenics Not a joke... seriously tempted now
5:58 Let me repay you for past advice. A drop of acrylic varnish into your inks before airbrushing will give them a lot more strength when dry.
Hooo boy, those 3D print time-lapse are pretty sweet.
I know it would be a pain but I would love to see your whole process for making this ork army including bases and trays.
I absolutely loved this video! Love seeing big models be assumed and painted
I love how realistic you are when it comes to painting models!
Love the video, mate. Great advice on actually getting your army finished and on the table!
A War Heffalump! Awesome. Cheers!
Loving the 3D print time lapse. Camera magic at it's finest
I think all wargamers have a pile-o-shame and my experience is that when people say they haven't it's usually because they are in self-denial. Personally, I think it's nothing to be ashamed of, but recognising its existence is the first step to dealing with it (get painting or get selling!!)
I don't think of mine as a pile of "shame". I have projects that I give up on and return to at a later date.
Once you have it done to that level you can always go back in and paint in more details. Looks great. Still jealous I don't have space for a resin 3D printer. One day, one day.
10/10 Cutest Snotling bum ever. Also, very nice war mammoth :D
It's called a pile of opportunity! Having kits is amazing for kitbashing.
I seen that come off the supports during the timelapse haha, but you did a great job in making sure it all lined up and fixed. Going to be a nice KoW army once you are done looking forward to seeing it completed.
Mammoth looks great! This was an enjoyable video, thank you.
Looks fantastic, nice centre piece to the army 👍🏻😁
Looking forward to seeing this finished army!
I'm in the middle of finishing up 2 armys at once, I've got northern alliance and nightstalker from the starter box but I've expanded both to 2000pts along with a couple of 3d printed minis in there.
Great paint job! You have an artist's eye. Not everyone who performs the same paint steps you do, has as cohesive and pleasing of a result as you. I take alot of inspiration from your techniques and love the way you present them! Look forward to every video. Thanks for taking the time to put out content!!
Cracking video Luke, amazing sculp, really looks the part, dry brushing is so rewarding, great look with less effort👏
That looks fantastic, great job 👍
I too respond to motivation to reduce my pile of shame by getting new models...hopefully it goes better for you than it usually does for me haha!
Fun model, you've definitely got me tempted to add it to my pile of shame!
Well I think its fab as it is, no shame for the painting, you did a great job.
I passed you on your way out of the hidden gem of a 2nd hand model shop t'other day with your hands full of models! I missed my opportunity to wish you a 'how do', glad to see word is getting around locally, even if it does mean I miss out on a few more bargains these days.
I really liked how brave you went with the base color, its always easier to dull colors down than to make them more vibrant
you do make me chuckle luke that face was like mine when i printed a complete sons of behemat army in a week
Area 51. Bristol City. Gloucester Road. Is another lil' treasure trove of second hand mini's
:)
Filled that gap in like a boss Luke. I'm a slow painter myself but I love the pondering over details.
For inks try adding some acrylic medium. I tried that for the first time recently using army painter matt medium with liquitex inks and was amazed at the difference. I had no problems with the inks running off with this approach.
such a cool elephant i mean wow! i have no idea about 3d printing i just build whatever GW has in at the moment never even tried forgeworld maybe oneday but holy crow that printer looks so cool! and your paint scheme! phenomenal work im gunna check out your other vids thanks for great content!
I think that mammoth painted up great !!
These models are massive and very detailed
My pile is like a SOB Rhino, Immolator, and Exorcist, and a Necromunda and Indomitus, all just to collect MIB really. If I had any real pile, it would probably be all the Sigmarines from the Starter, Blight and Souls. I got into AoS to get into Sigmarines, but then found myself just painting up all the Khorne, Nurgle and Ghosties because they looked way more cooler after a bit.
Agree on speed painting cheats. No need to paint like a champ when you just want to play a good looking army.
Love that model sooo much. Nice work on making a dent in your pile of shame
Nice paint job!!!
Wow that's a fantastic print
I spotted where the print had come off when you showed the footage and thought "oh dear..... has he gotten away with it......"
Great repair job on an impressive model man, all your kings of war videos have really sold me on the system, I loved your slayer army and I'm sure your orcs are going to be even more impressive.... Well with three f***ing huge mammoths they ought to be!
That mammoth is awesome. The paint and the sculpt. Heading over to join another miniature Patreon.
1:56 that sagging of the right part. U can see how the supports ripped. WOW!
Should've watched a little further :D
Super inspirational as always!
Any good painter knows dry brushing is a very valid and good technique to use
Love it mate, looks great! Love the 3D printer aspect to the hobby, it adds a freedom to the hobby you just don't have without it.
That’s my recipe for painting giant rats - blue-grey base, dark brown wash, grey drybrush. Makes a good dirty grey/brown effect.
I love the second hand models i'm building a Imperial Guard Army out of second hand models and my army is a mix mash of different guard platoons
Jesus , I wouldn’t have realized he said “orks” if it wasn’t for the visual aid
I love this, I for one spend so much time getting a model to look fantastic then it ends up getting damaged or paint chipped or rubbed off after a few games. Makes me think why did I bother. Defo like what you have done here to get an army on the table. Definitely tempted to reduce my quality so I can have more quality painted.
Are you varnishing your mini's after you paint them?
So, are you going to do a pile of shame video? 😂
Makes me wish I had a print. Looks great. Enjoyed the vid😍
I look forward to seeing those Emhar ww1 tanks turned into land raiders and/or whatever else one day! :D
@@GeekGamingScenics I didnt! I will watch it now, it looks fantastic!
Nice video man need to get in to the 3d printing so bad
Those Orks you grabbed: why not just dip them, in army painter shade, super quick.
@@GeekGamingScenics Yeah...well, go work on the pile of shame in the meantime, haha
Napoleonic shame myself, but I'm getting through it. You could say, I've set myself s mammoth task.
I really miss the terrain videos, hopefully they will start coming through again soon as promised
Looks cracking mate 🦣 enjoy your games bud.
Great to see you back, and with another great video. Keep at it chum
I fucking love his voice and your channel
SHAME, SHAME, SHAME. More shame required. P.s love the 3d printing shots. 🥰
I like that you didn't reprint it and used milliput instead. It's such a waste to just start over and now your model is even more unique.
Enjoyed that vid, thank you
I've been looking into Kings of War and 10mm fantasy because of you!
I'm excited for the excuse to paint up some of the existing minis in my backlog! Thanks for that.
If you want to have sweeping, grand fantasy battles 10mm is definitely the way to go, and if you just want a small game you can play nearly anywhere.
@@kingbalm9134 totally agree! I have some Warmaster from back in the day (3 units of dwarves and some characters painted up). I've also got a bit more in blisters.
The stl files out there make getting a resin printer really appealing for 10mm...
Everyone and their mother is commenting on this video… 🤣
Must be the soothing Yorkshireman’s accent!
Oh and great video… 🙂
Nice Mantic snotlings.
Art.
Thank you , Luke .
Luv~Luv~Luv .
That Woolly Mammoth turned out really well but not my age unless recompensed from a Ice age on some far distant planet that the Wolf Guard come across on their adventures? Cheers Luke.
I've wanted to have a war mammoth for my chaos dwarfs for ages and this might be the one
Nice! mammoth looks awesome! watching that mini printing was so satisfying also nice save on the fail so much quicker than reprinting, Did you forget to mention where you got the 2nd hand orcs or did i miss it?
I can’t believe you don’t wear gloves when you prime Luke hahaha
Nice one Luke
I thought it was just me that licked my brushes...
Having just started back in the hobby again I can totally get the logic.
Trying to get everything perfect is a guaranteed way to burn out.
As long as it's good enough for me to display so be it!
'Walk me closer so I can 'ittem with me bone!'
Looks Amazing to me, i've just started painting seriously again recently and i've not yet gotten the swing of dry-brushing, what kind of paints do you use for that usually? and what style of brush we're you using in this video for it? It looked like a makeup brush which is not a bad idea really.
@@GeekGamingScenics Okay, good to know, ive been using the army painter paints recently and they seem just a bit to thin for dry-brushing, hell, sometimes i can't get a clean color without 3 coats depending on the color lol, so it's good to know they work for that. I'll definitely look into the brushes. Thanks for taking the time to reply!
@@GeekGamingScenics Yep got a vortex mixer after i saw your video on em, Doesn't seem to matter much with the lighter colors like Lime greens, Yellows, etc. The darker colors go on just fine in 1 or 2 coats, so im not 100% sure why the lighter ones are so finicky. I'll go check out the Army Painter video now, maybe I need to find some better paints lol. Edit: I just realized that the video is the same one that got me to get my vortex mixer :D. I use it on every paint with a ball bearing before i use em, just doesn't seem to be helping with the super light colors. I'll try running em on it just a bit longer and see if that helps.
i dont have a pile of shame...........yet. trust me, if i was able to buy the kits id like to buy in one fell swoop, i would have a pile of shame to cut thru.
how are you finding the Saturn? i get its great for larger builds but have you used it for mass little figs? great vid
So, what i have learned in this video....
I buy more stuff, and my pile of shame shrinks?
@@GeekGamingScenics aaawh shit. I ordered so much stuff now. :)
my kind of humor , i have pile of shame ... look here i print a new model ^^
wash them in lidl thinners for 15sec a swirl so so .then wash in your ipa washer
hair dryer to dry thinners of and do the same with the ipa luke
If it's new-in-box you can count it as stack of potential, not pile of shame... I swear!
I feel betrayed, strangely...
Shame *clicks bell icon
How do you like the Anycubic Mono X? I have an original Photon but ive been thinking about upgrading to the Mono X. Or do you think the Elegoo Saturn is a better choice?
Dude, stop saying they are not great, they are better painted than most of us can do.
Good video
Never thought I’d get a pile of shame but it’s starting to accumulate lol
I'd say I have a small pile of shame as well but if 3d printed minis I have done getting them down though
Don't think I have EVER painted to win an award! Always just have to look good to me. Any thing else is extra.
I'm not a good painter but I'm avid! I'm happy to say my pile of shame is only a few minos
Share the shame !
beautiful! Another good one. Dang, a bunch of celebs in the comments.
If u need to get rid of your shame, u can send some to me
