Harrington Mann: Scottish Portraitist Who Captured British Royalty. Harrington Mann, a celebrated Scottish portrait artist, gained fame for his vibrant use of color and bold brushwork. Educated at the Glasgow School of Art and the Slade School of Fine Art in London, Mann also studied in Paris under masters Gustave Boulanger and Jules-Joseph Lefebvre at the Académie Julian. His early works depicted Yorkshire fishing communities, but his rise to prominence came with his stunning society portraits of British royalty and children in the 1890s. Influenced by the styles of James McNeill Whistler and John Singer Sargent, Mann co-founded the National Portrait Society in 1911, solidifying his place in British art history. Join us as we explore his artistic journey and legacy in the world of portraiture.
