A reverse hyper has a completely flat pad to lay on. In my opinion, laying on a rounded pad just to get your hips up in the air more isn't as comfortable. I'll stick with what I said in the video; you definitely CAN do you reverse hypers. I just wouldn't call this a true function of the machine. It's a workaround to get one extra function out of it. I LOVE this machine. I just don't think this one function is great.
@@BsScienceGeek101 you can do that. I think I mentioned that in the video. I'm just being picky because it's not a "true" reverse hyper. It certainly works though.
So hypers for less than 6ft person? Any thoughts? (I did notice that Freak Athelete suggests you use the GHD pad to increase range for 5'10" or larger with the reverse hypers, FWIW. Not sure that makes things too uncomfortable or not though) @RyanTreadaway
If you're around 5'8" or shorter, you may be able to with no adjustments. As far as the GHD pad recommendation, really that just achieves the same thing as I showed in the video; it points you up in the air slightly. I've not tried the GHD trick but my way seems more comfortable in my mind because your whole upper half is on the pad. I do enjoy reverse hypers on the Freak Athlete but since it's not a "true" reverse hyper, I had to call them on it.
Thanks! It's pretty simple. Just 3 sets of 10, once per week. I kept the reps and sets the same and just progressed by decreasing the assistance level each time I could. It took me about 2.5 months to be able to make it all the way down to true nordic curls. I still can't do them for sets of 10 yet though. I'm at about 15 degrees assistance for sets of 10.
Good review, I appreciate the perspective. This and the Shogun Nord-Ex showed up in my and my wife's feeds at about the same time so I'm trying to find some good apples to apples comparisons since both seem billed as multi-movement nordic benches, but it looks like the Freak Athlete is a bit lighter and easier to move around and goes on sale more regularly (both retailing at a grand otherwise).
I'm trying to get the Shogun in for review but no luck so far. As far as versatility goes, I don't think any other Nordic bench matched the freak athlete. Lol
@@RyanTreadaway yeah, it looks like my understanding of the Shogun was lacking. The Freak Athlete really is a Swiss army knife. I'll have to keep it in mind while building out my own home gym.
Ditto. I’m stuck between the two. The nord ex has fantastic reviews about the build quality. I’m not sure I need all the uses of the freak and would rather something better built. Would really love to see a comparison of them.

3:56 the machine is great for reverse hypers. you need to set it up correctly with the GHD/R.Hyper pad

@@RyanTreadaway Why not angle the front down so that you can get a full range of motion with the reverse hyper. Seems like a fine fix to me.

Great review Ryan. Thank you.
Thanks, friend!
Do you have the major lutie spirit b52 review?
I don't but I can see if they'll send me one for review.
I have the sled and the Nordic mini but I believe I will buy this product and the new multi sled
This machine is awesome. You'll love it. It's earned a permanent place in my home gym.
@@RyanTreadawaythank you for an awesome video!!!!
@@amishmuscle2536 Glad you enjoyed it! 💪
Also I got it for $599. Greatest value ever.
I completely agree! 💯

Solid review! What is your Nordic hamstring curl routine? Great job 👊

Good to know. It a very humbling movement. I have the nordic stick for the door. The incline feature is killer 💪🏽

I like it better than my gyms decline sit up bench
I love it. Idk if I love it for decline as much as a commercial decline though. Lol
