I really wanted to see that VW take a turn...
He looked liked he wanted to gun it across.
BUCK MASTERSON 6363 me too there was a Chevy there watching also
Just a heads up, you should always have window down and seatbelt off during water crossings just in case.
Excellent tips.
Always make sure to have your scuba gear handy just in case
5:40 Did i just hear spongebob laugh?
Lol could be! The rain washed in all kinds of characters.
Great fun, but yes -- you always want to do something like this with a buddy or buddies. Not for solo outings.
Absolutely. There's no way I'd try any of those crossings alone.
I gotta take my Prius out there.
Love watching Tacoma's getting dirty!!
What is the annoying text he keeps putting on the screen for a split second?
Should have stopped in the middle and grabbed a brush! I wash my mud off in the rain a lot! LOL
Sounds like you need your seat belt warning turned off. Best thing I ever did in my Taco. lol
That's a good one to do.
your making me want to take my TRD Pro out and get its feet wet!
Nice taco man!! If you can check out my channel check out my Tacoma!
Would have loved to try that I’m in Virginia also. Check out some of my videos.
Where in VA Robert?
Charlottesville
I just wanted to let you know I did a shout out in my new video for your channel
To all Taco owners we have really cheesie baffles on the pillar between cab and bed on passenger side be really careful about water flow right to left fast moving water might get in. Looks like fun.
badass!
I live 1 mile from this place cross it every day in a 1992 escort .Awesome it’s actually on UA-cam flintstone md 15 mile creek
Thanks for watching man!
Nothing like a deep water bath to get the salt off of everything after Winter. lol
That 1st water crossing looked super easy. My old 2wd Colorado would have made it easy without needing to use the locking function of the rear diff. The second crossing would have been very intimidating for sure! That truck was much lower than ya'lls trucks.
I remember a few years ago we had a serious rain down here in Chesapeake, VA. Everything was flooded big time. My neighbor hydro locked the engine on his scion it was so deep. Ended up having to drive 48mi through a great many flowing puddles of about that depth with my old 2wd. I was passing stalled jeeps along the way. There is definitely a technique to it. Since my truck was a much lesser vehicle than a Wrangler... and much lower.
Even had a 15ft long tree branch stuck to my undercarriage for half a mile or so at one point. Didn't want to stop and let the water in. I used my front bumper to make a wake to keep the door jams above the water as much as possible. lol
I now have a 18' Colorado with 4wd. Looking forward to having some fun with folks like you guys from time to time. This looks like it was a blast!
Thanks for sharing!
you drove 2 hours to cross two raging rivers lol ?
Yes! ... but this is just the first half of the trip. All the other stuff getting uploading tonight.
The East Coast. Pacifically. In Northern Carolina?
This was in central Maryland somewhere.
Very cool ! Hope everyone has the dif breather mod !
Funny you mentioned that because AFTER we were done for the day a couple of the guys said they need to do that mod.
Tacomaholic lmao
I would change the diff fluid out after a day of water crossings like that. Looked like fun. Take care✋😀
Is the breather mod necessary!? What if i only do this once a year ?
You took a great line when getting up on that curb man. Great driving 🤪🤙
Plot twist: that was my 11th attempt.
@@Tacomaholic lmao
What fun! There has been a lot of rain on the east coast. Send some out Vegas way!
I would if I could Don. :)
Man, that flat orange color is sick! Love it!
Thanks buddy! Matte orange vinyl. :)
Tacomaholic that’s a vinyl wrap? Amazing! Absolutely love the color! Great video, btw!
Yessir! Thanks man, I love how it turned out.
I'd like to see someone try that in a smart ( stupid ) car....
I'm pretty sure someone out there lifted a smart car and offroaded it.
Looks like fun.
That second crossing was pretty hairy, awesome vid. I need to find some good off road trails, I tried looking here in Iowa and can’t find a single one aside from my buddies farm land.
I had to drive about 2 hours to get to this spot.
Disgusting
thats fun
This is exactly what we do in Hawaii. All the boys get together with our tacomas and spend the whole day in the mountains or the beach🤙🏽🤙🏽🤙🏽
Offroad with a guy driving a Baja bug. He will attempt crossing without hesitation.
Those crossings are nothing compared to what can be done.
4:20 that is scary! I have a 2nd gen v6, idk how high water can get before I destroy my engine. My heart dropped to my buttcheeks today, a pool of water was way deeper than anticipated!
4runner first, hell yeah!
Last summer i went in about a 2ft-3ft deep watter hole that lasted about a mile drove through it all with 2wd & a stock locker & my friends all in 4wd in front & behind makin sure i dident sink we all hammered it it all the way through the whole river crossing & man was it scary in 2wd never ever again will i put my truck in that much water for that long & my taco got water inside stalled when i got home but cleaned the intake etc switched the plugs & fires right up TOYOTA for life baby!!
Dang! I bet that was nerve-wracking.
did anyone get water in the cab?
Nope!
Army light and heavy vehicle training is to apply light pressure on the brakes to dry the shoes or disks. After a low water crossing.
Good to know. We were certainly using our brakes on all of the small hills on the trail.
Feliberto Martinez some vehicles do this automatically
whole creek is filled with silt
Great Video!
Thanks buddy! We had a blast.
any risk of rust w/ deep water crossing in fresh water?
If any water gets trapped inside your frame it can start rusting but driving around should clear that all out.
Did you get a new truck, I thought your truck was black..?
Matte orange vinyl wrap!
Keep the camera pointed forward in the cab so we can see the water coming over the hood.
We're those all lifted or were there some stock? 17's?
It was about 50/50. I was surprised at how easy the stock suspension/tire Tacomas handles the crossings.
I noticed the stock 18 sport had 0 problems. Have to love these capable machines :)
I know after you're gonna want to re-grease those leaf springs. Maybe another video idea?
Probably a good idea.
Make it a video please
Hopefully you guys relocated your diff breather
I did mine a long time ago.
Where did you get your kit from.
Great video. Just got my Taco and cant wait for trails. Your orange color is amazing. Got my sub
Thanks so much William and congrats on your purchase! Got some mods planned out already?
@@Tacomaholic that's the hard part, so many to choose from. First tires then let the games begin lol
@@williampabon6432 I hear that. Let me know if you ever have questions.
@@Tacomaholic thank you I will
Hey man great vid! I have a quick question on your Flowmaster 50. I’m going to purchase one myself. I know it’ll fit my 2011. I saw in your review video that you had whoever install the muffler cut the tip off to hang over the axle. Do you recommend that or does it matter? Will it affect sound at all?
Thanks Jacob! I'm not sure if cutting it over the axle will affect the sound but I did it so the tip isn't hanging low to bang on a rock.
That orange is sick!
Diff breather mods?
OH yeah, I did the diff breather mod a long time ago.
Been wanting a Tacoma for a long time. Have a full size Chevy right now that is nice as a second family ride. Think I'm going to step down in size and get one.Keep up the great work on the videos! Really enjoying your channel!
Thanks for watching Josh! You will love the Tacoma. I used to have a 2006 Silverado SS. I loved that truck too but just didn't need a full-sized truck anymore. You thinking of getting a brand new Tacoma?
Tacomaholic probably used to save a little on the monthly payment.
Have you looked around at the used prices yet? Those Tacoma sure hold their value. ;)
Ya I know. Lots of number crunching to do. Have 2 kids and need to make sure back seat accommodations are adequate too. They are a reliable truck though and my current one has been giving me lots of problems in the 1 1/2 I've had it.
Tacomaholic I was looking into getting a 3rd gen Taco, after looking at pricing I came to the conclusion that it made more sense to buy new, especially as the folks on Tacomaworld pointed out that any used ones on the lot at that time had most likely been traded in because of the issues the 16's had.
Wait you cant cross water without a snorkel haha.
Yes finely summer is here love the trail vids !
Thanks for watching!
Never put a seat belt on when crossing water. Seat belts are for on the road type accidents.
No danger , the water barely came up to the hub caps
Awesome Vid Was that Super White Pro Sport Stock or did it have a lift?
Thanks buddy! I think both the white and blue Sports were on stock suspension and stock tires.
Nice video, I'm going to have to get out soon!
that orange 3rd gen looks good 👍
Where did you get your bed rack
It's a KB Voodoo bed rack.
All these tacos getting their belly's cleaned
Looks like a fun trip! Quick Q about your setup. What lift, wheel and tire size? Comparing it to my stock 18’ Tacoma.
Thanks for watching Jose. 285/75R16 tires with 3" in front and 4" in back.
Tacomaholic right on! Thank you
3.40 Seat belts for a river crossing? what if the crossing went wrong and the seat belt jammed, worst case senario a rollover!!!
Looks like a lot of fun. Maybe one day I'll make the trip up there from Florida.
I'd like to do a FL trip as well.
Tacomaholic Well let me know we have a few places here we can go. I too have a 2014 taco trd off road.
Me watching this vid:
“Why are some of my fellow Maryland Taco drivers leaving their dealership plate frames on!?”
Also me:
*still has a Jones Junction plate frame on his truck’s front plate*
What differential breathers are you guys using? kits or DIY stuff?
DIY for me.
Any problems with water getting in the diff, TC and trans vents on any of the tacos?
Not from this video, but adding a rear differential breather extension is recommended if you go offroading.
I have an 2002 sr5 trd 4x4, elocker, 2.5 inch ome ARB bumper, I know yours has more room inside but it needs more room outside,
Looks like a great time.
i know you got the diff breather mod but im cringing about the others that dont lol
Yeah I'm not sure I would have done those crossings without the diff breather.
Any problems with water getting in your differential?
No I did the diff breather relocation mod.
This is how I picture Washington crossing the Delaware
Ha ha I'll take it!
these are puddles.... go in some DEEP water... I had my 1974 CJ 5 that is roughly 5ft high to the top of the hood buried in water.. still made it out, and started up no problems. my new taco has made it through deeper than this in 2wd...
Whats with the subliminal messaging at 0:05 and 6:06 ?
#mallrated
dont fuckin dilly dally in err
Great video, man! I wish I could have been there, my frame could use a good soaking from the NY winter salt. This is one way of getting that done!
Ugh I hate the salt! Make sure you pressure wash all that stuff off.
Right?!
I live here in northern va we should do a meet up with my yotas!!
Absolutely! Are you on Tacomaworld?
Tacomaholic I’m over here in Southern Fauquier County I sent you a pic of my quicksand Toyota Tacoma the other day on face book asking what I should put on it next!! but it would be really cool if I saw you on the roads some time!! Ill keep an eye out!
Awesome. We setup all of our offroading meets over on Tacomaworld and many of the trails we hit are sort of closer to you.
Is the tacoma world your talking about on Facebook?
No it's a separate website: www.tacomaworld.com/ and here is a link to the Northern Virginia section: www.tacomaworld.com/threads/northern-virginia-roll-call.188512/
Nice rig!
I'm surprised no one had a snorkel on their truck
Nice video ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Im new in the tacoma world, do you got any video about the diff breather mod? I just got a 05 trd sport taco.
Tia!
Thanks buddy! I still need to make a vid for the diff breather.
@@Tacomaholic do you know if are ATV's dirt bikes allowed there? I want to take my truck but ride my bike too.
@@jportillo9129 Hmm not sure. I know the Peter's Mill Run & Tasker's Gap trails near Edinburg, VA do and have a ton of side trails for that.
Wish I could have been there. But previous commitments. -SD
Those were some awesome water crossings 👍🏻👍🏻
Tons of fun.
dumb question, are these all 4wd tacos?
Actually I think 2 of them were prerunners.
Nice, looking forward for the 2nd part
Should be up tomorrow.
Very bad idea indeed, to drive across the rushing water. I won't drive my Tacoma across like these people.
Nope me either water finds its way into everything if I had to do it to make it outta somewhere yeah but to just run it through water over and over nah,buy a boat
Ever thought about a 6 inch lift?
I thought about just about every kind of lift you can imagine when I was searching around. I'll probably stick with the 3" though.
nah just gotta send it, or a snorkle, those look cool
That 2nd crossing is getting really close to the stock air intake...
Hey man, I live in Lorton in NOVA. How often do y'all meet up for events?
Hey Bruce! Are you on Tacomaworld? We setup all of our events here: www.tacomaworld.com/threads/northern-virginia-roll-call.188512/
I am! I will keep an eye out on the thread. My name on there is Brucenemours
Sweet! Swing on by and say hi to the other fellas.
Great video ! Question do you have extended breathers on your diffs and transfer case ? Also on the white Tacoma what type of soft top cover is that? Thanks for any information on that.
Thanks for watching Charles. I'm not sure what brand the soft cover was. I extended my rear diff up into my bed but haven't heard of the t-case breather mod yet. I'll have to look into that one.
The white Tacoma has a Bestop. It's the same manufacturer as the Jeep fabric tops. The sides and rear window zips off and it folds flat in less than 10 minutes. Putting the windows back on takes a bit more time to get the fit right.
This guy knows! It's his truck. :)
Thanks I thought it was Bestop waan't 100% sure . Was thinking of getting on for my Tacoma as well.
Awesome video, as always! :)
did anyone have any problems after?
Not to my knowledge.
Awesome!!!!!!!!!!!
Good times!
Our GMC 2014 Sierra breaked down because I crossed the river last week and my father was very angry now it need a new engine
Hydrolocked?
Tacomaholic
Hello
I have no idea about it
The mechanic said pistons are braked because of water
@@MrWadifida Sounds like water got sucked into the engine from the air intake inlet.
Tacomaholic
Of course
What exhaust setup do you run your truck sounds really good
Thanks buddy. I'm running a Flowmaster 50 series like this: amzn.to/2IyTw6o The louder 3rd gen Inferno Tacoma had something from MBRP I think.
Thanks man 🤙
Is that with front or back diff lockers or just your standard 4x4 with locked center?
My truck has the Toyota e-locker in the rear ... but wasn't used in this vid.
Where are the older yotas?
I would have loved to have seen some older ones out there but no one who had one showed up for this trip. Hopefully next time!
Tacomaholic i totally understand i have a beautiful 99 xcab actually looking at selling it or trading in for an 07
I saw the orange one n was like Damn it son then realized it was yours
Awesome footage sir!
Thanks Nick, tons of fun.
What’s mall rated mean?
It's a highly offensive term used to demean your friends 4x4s. It means you never take your modified 4x4 offroad. 😀
What happens when the alternator gets submerged?
All hell breaks out probably.
@@Tacomaholic lol probably, I know the alt is pretty low on those
Land Cruisers have been an actual tool of life for decades in remote areas, that's how it got its reputation, not posing for cameras.
Ok ...
You talk too much.
It’s raining 🌧 here in San Francisco
I’d love to know how much water seeps into the cab when you do this.
None this time.
@@Tacomaholic wow! That’s pretty amazing! I have a silver 2013 TRD off road that I’ve had a little over a year. It has about 42k miles on it. Got it salvaged. Works amazingly. Been considering doing some mods to it after watching your channel.
I see you changed the gas cap to match
Some of those trucks look like they just rolled off the showroom floor. I hope everyone had extended diff breather tubes installed . . . .
Yeah some of those were pretty new. Afterward they said they still need to do the diff breather mod. Yikes!
