@phillip. Russia isn't all that different than Iran as Putin's war is fully supported and encouraged by the Russian Orthodox Church.
Religious extremes, despotic authoritarian leaders, super-nationalism, hate for other ethnicities, hate for LGBT and sexuality... all these things are dangerous and need to be recognized for the evil that they are wherever they exist not only in countries that they are the actual policies of the government but as well in those where they are officially opposed.
Sad to say but much of organized religion leans toward oppression rather than freedom.

I completely agree with you on Iran. The western world has not been consistent in fighting Muslim extremism. The west should have also supported Georgia, once it was invaded by Russia.
