Expert Tips: Installing Our Tow Vehicle Braking System with M&G Engineering

- We've been looking at braking systems for our tow vehicle for a few years now. Even though our Jeep is light enough to tow behind our motorhome without a braking system in Texas, each state has different requirements. Plus, it's always safer to have more braking power when you really need it.
We learned about M&G Engineering from another motorhome owner, and were excited to learn more about a tow vehicle braking system that was made in Texas! After researching more about M&G's system and speaking with their General Manager, Monty, we were confident that this was the right system for us.
Since we were already scheduled to be in Athens, Texas for our Basic RV Maintenance course at the National RV Training Academy, we adjusted our reservations to arrive in Athens a couple of days early so we could get our new tow braking system installed at M&G.
We were really impressed by their system, the history of the company, the people there and the work that they do. We now have a lifetime warranty on a tow braking system that was 100% made in Athens TX!
We are not affiliates for M&G. We just really like the product and the people. To learn more about M&G Engineering and their tow car braking systems, check out their website: m-gengineering... .

Hey y'all! Thanks for watching! We are not affiliates for anything for M&G Engineering, we were just really impressed with their product and service. If you have a motorhome, definitely check them out for your tow car braking system. Their website is m-gengineering.com .
Tom and Stacie, We are here at M&G Engineering tonight and tomorrow we get the whole system installed on our Buick Envision. Monty is installing the baseplate, tow bar and braking system in the morning! Thank you so much for the excellent information and the video. We appreciate all you do. Larry and Sherri
That’s awesome Larry and Sherri! Tell Monty we said Hi! We are really happy with our M&G braking system. Enjoy the evening and thanks so much for letting us know! Safe travels!
Monty did a wonderful job installing the 2.0 on our 2015 Mini Cooper and also got us fully outfitted with a blue ox towbar and all the accessories. Call Monty, and have peace of mind knowing you and your toad are safe.
Great to hear Brian! We agree 100%. Monty is awesome!
I had that system installed on my 2014 jeep wrangler it work flawless Awesome
Good to know Geo! Thanks
We had one installed on our 2014 CRV 18 months ago. Great system. However, we did not know to request a charge wire for the CRV, and have had the battery run down a couple of times. Will be installing a charge wire soon. A great system!
We are very happy with it.
Thank you for posting this video. I am scheduled to have this system installed at M&G soon, so I enjoyed watching this, as it helps me get an idea of what to expect. Good job guys, and enjoy your travels!
Thanks Wes! We were really impressed by them.
Great info. Did our research and tomorrow we are having out M&G braking system installed on our DP. Thanks.
Awesome! We are REALLY happy with ours. Tell Monty we said Hi!
Thanks Texas - Great video. We also have a Tiffin Breeze and a Jeep TJ (ours is 2000) and love both. I think Monty and you have given me the confidence to self-install. See you on the road!
Thanks so much David! Hope we see y'all out there somewhere. Would love to see your Breeze and TJ. We love our M&G system.
Thank you
Thanks guys, That was a great video full of helpful information that will be referenced by many for years... You guys do a great job and your very helpful... Safe travels my friends... don
Thanks so much Don! Hope you have a great week!
The standard blue electrical umbilical to motorcoach to tow car is great but water intrusion to wire harness hub gets into it and results in corrosion where the blue harness goes into the plug adapters. Tape with electrical tape. But better yet pull the tow side wire hub adapter plug and silicone into and on all the wires . To adapter hub. My corrosion was less than two years. Great people there! Great video!! Hello Leon inventor!
Thanks for the tips!
Again, awesome info! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Great folks over at M&G!
Our Newmar came with an Air Force 1 braking system pre-installed on the couch. That means we only need to have the rest installed on the towed. I don't tow 4 down but it's nice having another option.
Nice you guys! That’s a great setup. Cheers!
Hey Jeff! 👋 Thanks! Hope you’re enjoying your adventure.
Love your channel. Aren't you supposed to cross the safety cables?
Good catch David. Yes, we do cross our safety cables. That's something we've learned along the way. I don't think every state requires it, but it's a good idea.
Thanks for the info, that's great to know.
You’re welcome Sonia! We were happy to find them.
Tom and Stacie, Great video - I have been looking for a company to install my tow bars and braking system. And they are close by! Thank you! Larry And Sherri
Awesome Larry & Sherri! That is a GREAT choice! Tell Monty we said Hi.
I have had an M&G installed on my Hummer H2 for many years. I have towed it many many miles. Flawless system. I would not use any other company for a braking system.
Thanks Bruce! Great to know. We are loving our M&G system.
Thanks Guys great 👍🙏🏼🙏🏼
Thanks Ronnie!
I would like to know if there is a likely way to identify the correct air line on the motor home to tie into for the air that operates the towed vehicle braking system. I have a coach made by Monaco, circa 2005
Give Monty a call at M&G Engineering. m-gengineering.com/ He can answer all of your questions.
Looks like a great system. Is it only for coaches that have air brakes?
Hi Jean! Great question. Here’s a link to the page on their website that talks about the braking systems they offer: m-gengineering.com/products/
We are transitioning to a Tiffin Red 37pa and want to tow a Jeep too. I hadn’t heard of this company but will check them out. Other than being a Texas company what features and price point attracted you to this system?
I was thinking of installing a Ready Brute braking system but this seems better and not as complicated as an Air Force One system.
What really attracted us (besides the made in Texas) was: the lifetime warranty, the ease of use, lack of maintenance requirements, and the fact that we didn’t have to install anything in the passenger/driver areas of the Jeep.
I am getting ready to change toads and thinking about M&G to install my baseplate and their braking system. Do you still recommend?
We absolutely 100% recommend the M&G system. Ours has been excellent. No issues. Very easy. Completely reliable.
Do you like this system better than your previous blue ox system and difference in cost between the two?
We still use our Blue Ox tow system, but we did not have a tow braking system until recently. We added the M&G Braking System to our setup. We really like them both.
Cost?
I have the same setup 99 wangler, class A w/air brakes about how much?
If I remember correctly, I think the M&G braking system was somewhere around $1,300. Their website is m-gengineering.com/ for more info. Call Marty over there with questions. He did our install. They also install Blue Ox and Roadmaster towbar systems if you need that. Great service.
Great video you can’t be to safe
We agree 100%. Thanks!
So you are not installing your M&G....you're having it installed.....PLEASE CHANGE THE TITLE!!
