Daniel, your little boy is growing up.Used to be when they were swimming, your job was to keep an eye on them, and now you are fishing while they are out there jumping off the tower. Houston can bait his own hook and take the fish off. He is depending on you less and less.Soon you will come home and he will tell you about the fish he caught that day. You're doing a fine job.

I've caught white (aka sand) bass and filleted them and soaked them in the fridge overnight in salt water. They tasted as good as any flounder I've ever had.
I’m jelly of the log perch at 4:44! Nothing beats the bait you catch yourself!

Hey Daniel, take it from a woman that's getting old. Tie the bottom of your fish basket, with a couple of bread ties, Or whatever you want. Many years ago, when my dad was still here and able to fish, we lost fish a couple of times in one day. So dad used whatever he could find while we were on vacation to stop loosing our fish. It worked, i have done this ever since. No more escaping fish, except for snakes in the fish basket.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
It doesn't matter how much fish you guy catch you and the kids have a great time watching keep it up

When I was younger, we used to go Out on Lake Okeechobee a with 6' cane poles and little white jigs with red head and catch what we called Speckled perch by the hundreds with my Grandfather,father and 3 brothers

In most of our little lakes around where I live, the most catch fish is a Bullhead, there are also perch and Northern's.
One year for Mother's Day, I took my 3 kids fishing, 2 boys were 4 and 2 years of age, my daughter was 3 and sat the entire time in her stroller. They were all 3 using cane poles.........in 4 hours "we", the 3 of them catch 250 Bullheads.
When we went to the field to show their dad.......he looked at me and said have fun cleaning them. When he came home at Midnight, I was still cleaning Bullheads........ finally finished around 1 a.m.😂😂😂. Never did that again

Great video my man!!! Brings back memories of my dad taking my brother and I fishing. When we walked down the street my friends would always tag along with us. I took my boys fishing as well, I even took along the neighborhood BULLY. After that he became friends with my sons 😊😊😊😊😊😊. You're a great father and friend to the boys. Your videos are so REALISTIC, you share the not so good days, as well as the best days fishing!!!!

Great video. Catching bait, fishing, swimming and eating. I grew up by Greers Ferry Lake and when the white bass were schooling they would literally make the water look like it was boiling. We were building a house with a big chimney and my mom would set a grate on top of the chimney and smoke white bass fillet. A really interesting take on fish. Thanks for sharing!

Making good men out of them. I love the fishing videos!!! We never caught that many fish when I was little. We lived on Clear Boggy Creek and my mom did put her feet down on the head of a catfish, big enough that she thought it was a huge rock…. not….. scared the crud out of me cause I was in the creek with her…… anyway… love the video…. Nice fish vid great seeing Jacobi again . I was lucky to have crappie when I lived in East Texas thanks to Martha & Fred was it a friend when parents invited me to a fish fry in Athens you nice folks.

I absolutely love how you are teaching those two young men skills and applying the math skills in a real life situation. Houston measured the fish, you told him how long it had to be and he subtracted using mental math. This is a real life educational opportunity for them. Can you tell I am a retired teacher? 🤣I am loving seeing you cook on that wonderful outdoor kitchen. That kitchen is really nice.

My favorite fresh water fish was Bream. I lived in Naples.
When I was married, my mother came and we went to the White River and aught Rainbow Trout which was fantastic.
Here in central Florida there are a number of reclaimed phosphate pits that have been turned into catch & release lakes and I cry every time I catch a "keeper" that would be fabulous on the table. Love me some fresh water fish!

Long years ago when my dad would fish around the Mississippi, he wouldn't bring home anything except crappie. Sometimes he would bring home a cat or two, but we'd have to skin those. I was about 10 and could scale the crappie but not big enough to skin the cat. That was in the 50's before filleting became popular. Good video.

You can have a blast just catching bait! The cast net and traps are fun, but for creeks I like using a seine. Seines are fun teamwork and they let you catch crawfish and other stuff that is usually missed. I have even used a seine in a field to catch a mess of grasshoppers! Don't be cheap, get one!
