I really appreciate you sharing your experience about being an adult novice. I'm just getting into customizing and I feel like I don't fit anywhere, I hope shows will start having an adult novice class!
That'd be really great, wouldn't it?! It would rely heavily on the Honor System, but if the prizes aren't as extravagant and the competition not as fierce, perhaps the folks who need Novice the most would be the only ones interested in showing there anyway, making "policing" of the entrants unnecessary. One can dream! 💕
It looks like it was a fun time. Hopefully I can make it to BreyerWest next year. I agree that it would be nice for there to be a separate adult novice division for showing.
That'd be great if you could come again in 2024! I'm hopeful BreyerWest returns, and if not to Colorado, maybe California! (An adult novice live show would be SO nice. I wouldn't feel like I was drowning among the experienced, fast-paced showers, and wouldn't feel guilty showing against the younger ones. Happy to know someone else feels the same; if only the division existed!)
Glad you made another video! I was concerned you left the hobby after the last video. Congrats on your success at BreyerWest! I like watching your videos, as I feel a connection as a older/adult collector/hobbiest/shower/patent.....and maybe an inspiration to start my own channel.....
I would LOVE to see another hobby channel start! If you do it, please share! I'm glad you feel comfortable in this space. I admittedly feel kinda "lost".. I have the internal enthusiasm and naivety that a young collector might, and I want to feel "fun" and be a part of groups, but have the adulting responsibilities of an older collector. Plus aches and pains and lack of energy. 😆 And no hobby friends to boot, besides one in another state and one I've only met online. But that's the beauty of the hobby, right? Connections can form/friendships forged from miles and miles away, and the good parts of the community can be so welcoming and accepting of anyone. I DID have to step away for a while though, admittedly.. that last video topic had me out of sorts and I wasn't sure where to put my feelings for the artists I was once star-struck by. Luckily not all the Breyer artists are that way, and for the most part, staying out of that particular online group has been pretty healing. Thank you for being here!
Thank you so much! Welcome back! I wasn't "involved" much in the hobby when I began, or when I came back in the 'middle' before now.. so it's interesting for me to hear of others' experiences and see old posts/pictures/read stories about the hobby from the years I missed. There is a lot going on currently and I'm having fun exploring/experiencing! Thank you for being here!
I am showing Breyerfest Open the first time and feel the same as you! BF does not have a novice so I only had one live show in March to prepare for the hardest model horse show out there. I feel so incredibly unprepared but at least when you come in with no expectations any ribbon will be exciting
Oh gosh! I hope you have lots of water and snacks and a buddy to chat with during the show! BEST OF LUCK! That's a big endeavor! And yes, any ribbon will make the effort worth it at that show. Let us know how it goes! So exciting!
Yes! It is _no_ fun driving through the narrow, single-lane canyons during a snow storm. It was a great time at BreyerWest though and I feel so lucky to have been a part of the event!
Aww, so glad you braved the snow and made it home again in one piece (especially if your chronic illness was giving you grief!). It's so nice to see you come home with ribbons and that you had a great time. The Chevaliere would look great on the shelf next to your Thornycroft I think with all that speckling in her coat. I would love to see a video on your show experience, and I'm looking forward to it!
That's true! Thorny and Chev would make great friends! I'll have to put them together in a special place and share how they look. I'm SO happy to have her, and so glad I got to go and be a part of the event! I hope to have some creative-type videos out soon, but with my time-warp life and can't-focus brain, it could be months from now. HA. 😆 Thank you for watching and for this nice comment!
Congratulations on your loot! I’m going to BreyerFest for the first time in 2024 against all odds. I just wanted to know, since I have a couple pricier models, how much are you generally looking at price wise for some of those run models?
Ahh BreyerFest! IT'S THIS WEEKEND! I hope you have an amazing time! (PS: I'll have a BF24 speculation video out a little later today!) As far as the models: it totally depends. Some of the Surprise horses have held high value; some of the splits (like mane/tail) have come down.. often the small or micro run variations hold higher value. Like last year's Araba, for example: the small run rose grey is still selling for $700 to $800+. Peanutine and Speos (the colorshift ones) go for even more. If you're trying to research for resale, check ebay sold listings, or visit the Rare Model Horse Sales group on Facebook.

I actually won the silent auction for the full set of surprises loo
Did you?! Congratulations!! They're such an awesome set!

Yay! Another vid from Candace. Looks like you had a great time. Congrats on your show ribbons & volunteer model. How exciting!
Thanks so much! I did have a wonderful time and feel so lucky. The whole weekend was amazing!
That's awesome, congratulations on your volunteer model. I'm glad you had a good time. ❤😊

I appreciate your videos! I'm also back into the hobby after many years and it has changed so much.

Looks like a great time! Good call to book out earlier to avoid the blizzard!
