Absolute legend!!!
MLB Legend
hi mlb
Thanks Baseball!!!
Absolutely
Ichi Scratchy that MLB itch
This man loves baseball more than I will ever love anything.
He loves baseball more than I love him💔
He loves Baseball, and Baseball loves him...
As soon as his seasons were over he would go to Japan & keep practicing & training. That is dedication. He was a modern day Samurai & Baseball was his Master
He loves baseball more than anyone will anyone will love me😭😭😭😭😭😭
That’s deep man
Ichiro is still playing even after retirement. What a legend.
Ichiro in his natural habitat
lol
Steve Irwin? Is that you!?
He probably wouldve beaten pete rose’s hit record if he didnt spend his first nine years in japan pro baseball league. Certified legend
Why shouldn’t those hits count? By my calculations he has more hits than anyone who has ever played the game
@@Marx-Lennon He does have more hits than Pete rose if you combine Japan and MLB but if you only look at MLB Pete is in front
@@Marx-Lennon They don't count for the same reason stats in the minor leagues don't count. But let's say they did:
Ichiro: MLB 3089 + JPN 1278 = 4367 total hits
Rose: MLB 4256 + Minors 427 = 4683 total hits
Ichiro is/was amazing. One of the greatest hitters of all time, and I'm happy to have been able to see him play. That said, there's no way to argue that he would have played as well against MLB talent as he did against Japanese talent early in his career. Rose played his first 6 seasons against the 15 inch mound and had 200+ hits in 3 of them, including 210 in 1968, the "Year of the Pitcher" that forced MLB to finally lower the mound. The strike zone was also _much_ larger back then.
It has been fashionable for a while now to propose that Ichiro would have had more hits than Pete if he'd played in the MLB his entire career. Usually this comes from those who lack a sense of historical context.
@@rapid13 didn't rose play awhile in Mexico or cuba he said that if ichiro Japanese stats count his cuba or whatever do count too. Idk never looked it up just heard rose say that in an interview once.
@@nineteeneightynine432 I do not believe he played anywhere but the US. Not 100% on that but cannot find anything that says he played elsewhere.
Even as an A's fan, who felt Ichiro's wrath in the AL West for a good decade, this warms my heart
Angels fan here, I’ll second that.
Im an a's fan as well and feel the same way
That kid's got a nice swing. They should sign him!
Idk he's been really good in Japan but I don't know if he is going to be able to transfer his skills in the Majors
@@mercnsiku15 😂😂😂
@@mercnsiku15 Yeah .. I get you. I'm a little worried about his arm too.. can he make a throw to third base from mid right field to put a guy out? Still might want to give him a chance
@@worldfamouslanglois4805 I think he’d be a perfect platoon outfielder
@@Fluffy-ov1tp Looks like he could steal a base or two.as well. maybe even pitch in a pinch. Get this guy!
There will be outcry if hes not unanimously elected to the hall of fame. He crushed Mariano. And he was unanimously elected.
If anyone doesn’t vote him in they will catch hell everywhere
If you’re talking about the game in 2009 where he walked Mariano off, I was at that game. Was awesome.
I mean mariano did have a better career but one of the big things for hall of fames is impact on the game. Ichiro had an absurd amount of impact for baseball in japan and was one of the best player in baseball.
mariano had a better mlb career, but you're right, ichiro should be inducted unaminously
The fact Griffey wasn’t unanimously selected is also a crime not talked enough about.
Seattle needs to hire ichiro as their hitting coach
Their ex GM didn't want to hire an interpreter.. That a extra $75k a year you know!
@@jorgyr36 would he need an interpreter? he speaks pretty good English and as just a hitting coach he wouldn't be getting interviewed by media a ton or anything
@@EricOverOnYT I was trying to make a funny about the GM saying what he did before he resigned.
Great idea!!
They need to hire him period. Guarantee he still can do it
The legend.
Why do I get the feeling that he’ll be keeping himself in shape.
It's got to be a good feeling for Marco to face such a legend rusty or not and completely control the at bat. Even after 2 years he's not easy
Seeing him to his signature bat-pose at 0:51 gave me *chills!*
That ichiro stretch always love it after all these years
his stance style is very unique
When I see this I smiled so big he is my all time favorite baseball player and jsut seeing him hitting makes me happy
I’ve watched some of his documentaries from the years in Mariners from the beginning thru his records...he is not just an outstanding disciplined player but a humble, sensitive and sincere human being which impressed me most. There is always greatness behind all the achievements and there is a greatness in the individual behind it. This is something that inspired me most. He talks about adjusting to a new environment, still keeping his own shape, how to make baseball fans happy which is his job, how the team is important not the individual, how he doubt himself and how he would overcome it...it’s actually as in sports as in life, so much to learn from these players at the top...
I wish more people could access those great documentaries which is mostly in Japanese unfortunately..
He loves baseball. Seeing him playing baseball makes me realize that it's so nice to have something that you are passionate about in your life.
As an Anaheim Angels fan I always loved watching Ichiro, in a standard reg season games that is. He was fun to watch. I hated seeing him in high pressure moments when the game was on the line and he was at the plate. It felt like you couldn’t possibly get him out.
"Good eye" had me dying 😂
This is awesome for this organization to let players come back and hit in simulated game. I love this idea
That man is a baseball legend. Sooo cool to see him swing.
"Good eye" yeah I'd say so
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
94 mph.... high and tight at eye level ..... that will wake you up real quick
He still calls himself “baseball-boy”.
We enjoy watching him playing baseball cuz he still enjoy playing it.
you really just cant hate this guy. classy, and a legend!!
legend.
He will always be a legend. He's impossible to dislike.
Amazing. Will forever remember him as one of my 4 favorite M's. Junior, Edgar, Ichiro, Felix.
Couldn’t help but smile the whole time I was watching this, what a legend!
I absolutely love Ichiro and I am so happy he came back to Seattle after retiring. Seattle is where he belongs!!! He's an absolute legend!!! GO M's!!!!
a living legend
The ultimate competitor. Dude lives this life
he’s gonna come back
That made me smile so big! 😁🙂👍
We are looking at a living legend.
I was lucky enough to meet Ichiro in February 2001 before he ever had a major league hit. One of the all-time greatest. Thank you #51.
The GOAT
He still never gave Seattle up... 🥲Shows up to Spring Training even if he is no longer an active player.
Edit: Seattle, make this man a state treasure and as one of your coaches, he can teach the rookies about hitting, fielding, and base-running cause he can do all of those.
He actually still works with the Mariners; he just usually stays out of the public eye nowadays.
A few months ago I spotted Ichiro playing catch with Justus Sheffield on a T-Mobile Park tour while he was rehabbing (vid is on my channel). I fanboyed the hell out when I saw him, lol.
Absolutely a First Ballot Hall of Fame inductee he will be
I had the pleasure to see him play as a NY Yankee, which was great as a fan. Truly a Ambassador to Baseball
A man truly worthy of respect.
I am really happy that he enjoy playing baseball. Thanks Ichiro from Japan.
Ichiro is MLB royalty. Part of baseball history in so many ways. #51 Hall Of Fame Awaits.
I love how the Mariners treat Ichiro accordingly. Like a king 💯💯
Like he hasn’t been away at all. The dude has presence.
The ol mans still got it!
Absolute legend
The man surpassed 3,000 hits after breaking into MLB at the age of 27. 27! Who does that?!
Answer : Nobody
Ichiro of course
him
One of the greatest ever. Durable, played the game the right way!!
anyone else get goosebumps when he puts that arm out and tugs the sleeve?
First ballot HOF, one of the few guys I got to see play and I knew I was watching a true legend. Someone I'd tell kids about when I'm an old man saying "Yes I watched him play and he was as great as they say!"
Nice of the Mariners to give this new guy a chance. He may be something someday
@Micah Penney that’s the joke. I absolutely adored Ichiro, he was one of my favorite pros in backyard baseball
Dude is just pure class & a Great Player, he's still got it !
Ichiro literally forever.
Legend
That wind up is legendary
The bean kicked in
I don’t think anyone has ever loved baseball like he does. Absolute legend.
Ichiro is the GOAT! He's the GOAT of professional baseball in Japan and the GOAT of all the Japanese players to ever lace up cleats in the MLB! PERIOD.
What a legend
So Casual. Love it
A legend like no other.👊🏼
Ichiro still has his Mizuno sponsors even after retirement.
Im exited for our future! Im going to spring training this week!
He just wont stop
Once again, Ichiro continues to amaze us.
This guy has potential. A few thousand at bats and he might make the show.
I miss this guy in the leauge
This man still got it!
how is this man still underrated?
Living legend
He is always welcomed in any Major League ball field
this is the greatest video on the internet
He's still in amazing shape.
One of the best baseball players in the sport history!
Freaking love Ichiro dude! Seems like such a good guy
Guy is older than some managers and he can still hit!
I would love to see him get back in the game and go another 2 years
I wouldn’t be surprised to see a surprise plate appearance the way he’s swinging the bat still.
Anyone else get chills watching this?
He probably could still bat at least 250 at this age.
nah 312
He probably could come off the bench and hit, no doubt and be productive, but as the years add on, it's not fair to a team as a body would wear down at 47 thru a whole season, well maybe no Ichiro, but a person in good shape at that age
Arguably the best hitter of all time. All time.
He was not a better hitter than Tony Gwynn.
It's alright .... it's been 2 years ..... guy does not look a day over 30 still .... super smooth !
I miss watching him play...
Ichiro is still going at it. That guy doesnt know retirement as a word in his dictionary. What a legend.
One of the greatest hitters of all time
I need to start doing that sleeve tug. It's so smooth.
The Mariners need to make Ichiro their DH!
Kid's got promise.
The sound of metal cleats on the concrete brings back so many good memories
