SSFR - Engine 128 Response *Room and Contents*

SSFR was dispatched in the afternoon hours for a reported residential structure fire with smoke visible. Response view is from Engine 128. Chief 100 arrived on scene to find a small single story, wood frame, residential structure with nothing showing from the exterior. Upon investigation, found a light smoke haze in the interior. Upon further investigation, found a small fire contained to a single bedroom involving the floor, and contents. The fire was quickly extinguished using a water can. Once complete, firefighters checked for any extension. The cause of the fire was determined to be a direct flame coming in contact with an at-home oxygen machine and causing an explosive combustion. One patient was transported by EMS due to burn injuries. The fire was logged under control 15 minutes after FD arrival.

SSFR is a combination department in East Alabama running with a 24/7 paid EMS crew, and a paid Fire Officer Monday - Friday during business hours with volunteer firefighters completing staffing during all hours of the day and night. SSFR runs approximately 2800 emergency calls annually.
