When I get off for $34 for driving up to Jacksonville, which is about an hour drive, but a minimum of a 2 hour drive back because there is always always accidents on 95 South. This is a 3 hour trip period so that's 12 to $15 in gas period it's not worth it. If you divide the remainder into an hourly rate. I'm not doing it

This is what Uber does in Lexington Kentucky, going to pick up the customers for 5miles-18miles drive them to 2 miles then you get paid $2,94cents😭😭! This is a real scumming we are facing in Uber in Lexington City. Uber is scumming drivers when they sand you pick up point then hide drop off point and payment😭😭😭😭

Well, i dont turn my car on for less than $6, but i also only do Uber comfort only. I am just not into driving for free since i do this for a living and pay all the maintenance cost out of my pocket and i have no partner or anyone to lean on to drive for free cuz over time the loss appears up in your maintenance cost the more you drive for less .
I also found that in my area, when you pick up cheapo ($2,$3,$4) rides, you are picking up more dangerous, inconsiderate people who never tip and tare up your car on purpose. I can't contribute my time and car for that, so cherry pick for life!

  • @ArchThaBoss

Base driver pay should be $6 point blank period just for the convenience of having access to a ride. Idc if a person is going from one end of Walmart to the next. Rideshare is a convenience and it’s not cheap for the operator of the vehicle. Base pay of $6

Something is happening in the bayarea California.
Once a driver approaches 200$, rides suddenly out of the blue, and the rides appear on the app, slows way down.
I ask around in San jose and San Francisco Airport drivers. They notice the same thing.
I'm still able to eek out 250$ in 7 hours. But being slowed down when I approach 200$

Uber/Lyft should tell us what we are...
Are we INDEPENDENT (that have choice) or STAFF (that have no choice)
Because if I am an independent contractor, then I have the right to pick what I want.
And UberEat is a LEGALIZED SLAVERY... Imagine doing a 18 mile food delivery for $4, and sadly the customer did not even tip.

It is not cherry picking its making good business decisions, we as drivers should never use that term. Uber and Lyft call it that so it sounds like we are doing something wrong. We are independent contractors running our own businesses. No small business survives without making good decisions that result in profits.

I live in Baltimore City if you don't cherry pick your rides you will find yourself getting killed carjacked you have to be aware of your surroundings every place ain't safe and every place is not profitable to go in our downtown is in such shambles that you can't successfully pick up people and drop them off in a reasonable amount of time you will not make money and I will not drive further for less also there has been a glitch that cancels rides while in process add cherry pick every single ride

I have set my acceptance rate at 20 an hour, and at least a dollar a mile, but I also am able to see $.95 a mile and 18 an hour for when I have to stop cherry picking because I’m not hitting my quota which comes at the end of my shift which varies because I work only when needed. It’s like an extra job now, years ago it was full-time. there are apps out there to help you see exactly what you’re getting and I suggest everybody use it and Cheri pig as much as possible.

Almost every ride they offer is below prop 22 guarantees. Even rides starting next to where you are. That's in San Diego a strong market.
If you're relying on prop 22 you are accepting 36 cents a mile and 120% minimum wage and tips. No point to high paying rides relying on prop 22 as they only subsidizes the crappy paying rides. And if you are not relying on prop 22 then every low paying ride is losing.

It's tough out here like Harry said you have to know what you are doing. But I agree sometimes you can't cherry pick, whatever comes. Still, even in that time you have to be careful, because you could end up wasting time on a $4,$5 trip and end up loosing time and money. I say depends on the time of day, mood, and what may be happening in the area. Is not easy. Is a hustle for real.

Its like a crop of grapes, the winemaker wants the sugar level to be at its best, if they wait to long its not prime, if they pick early its not prime. you strive for the optimum, you are the winemaker. Pick for the best but don't end up with sour grapes. Put parameters on your picking, mine are 6 minutes or less to get to, unless its a surge market and then its a sliding scale, if there is bigger surge near evaluate your odds. I have found that the least I drive to people the more I make, in all cells of the spread sheet!

There's not a simple answer to this.
If demand is low, you might need to take everything. But it also comes down to which platform you are on. Uber is the predominant platform in my area, but they aren't paying, which is unacceptable. If they have the market there is no reason why rides should not be priced correctly.
Lyft is paying better but there are fewer available rides. I recommend multi app strategies and of course, know your market and when demand will be high.

Who in Bridgeport CT, do 75 miles trip fo $45.00 or trips where the payment is way less than the mileage. Any trip where the payment is less than the mileage Uber drivers are the losers, but that's what most of the trips are. I do them when l can't do any better. Being as we are paid less or roughly more than 25% for each trip. My approach is the less of some trip l do is less l will be short changed and ripp off. The changes they made only discourages me more and more to do some trips. In comparison to before 2021 even Uber surge prices does measure up to payment of a $1.00 per mile or what it use to be few years ago. After 8 years l am sometimes ashamed of myself of some trips l accept and so upset.

I do have screenshots taken I can show you where some rides are a little bs for the pay, and most regular ride requests that default to the toll road are underpaid.
I do believe you can still cherry pick rides to earn a little better vs just taking every ride fed to you, depending on location of course. At least where I live in Denver area.
I do put in around 65+ hours/week on average, and earn plenty

This contest works better with a few factors constant. Have the same amount of gas and online hours. Factor in your driving mileage and the see compare how much you make relative to your expenses. Cherry picker always wins. I believe that if you rush for the average rides you miss out on the good one when they come. I would rather wait.

Hey did you know Uber Lyft drivers are 1099 contractors? This the reason they don't any medical benefits or retirement plans bc they are not employees. Because of this Uber Lyft charge for every trip half or more than half in fees to drivers for using their platform. So when they choose not to give someone a ride they are in their full right or why else pay Uber or Lyft to get rides if u couldn't choose?

Always cherries. Don't expect anything under $8. $200 in a weekend that Is a joke, I'd quit driving if that was the case. I can get that in 4 hrs. It depends on location. Location is key.

If you accept every single ride, you’ll be out there for five hours and you’ll make $35 minus your mileage and your gas. You made 10 bucks. You have to cherry pick the old days you didn’t have to but now they’re taking 60% or at least half you should be encouraging people to quit.

On UE, literally half the orders they send me would cost me more to deliver than they are paying. Another 30% the profits are so slim that I would net $1-$2 per hour profit. If I took everything I might end up with more total pay at the end of my shift, but I would actually be operating at a net loss. I'm more concerned with how much profit I am turning than how much in total Uber is depositing in my account. If I gross $100 in a shift and my operating expenses are $25, and you've grossed $200 but your operating costs are $175 then I've beat you by $50, and I haven't sent Uber the message that it's ok to ask the uneducated and undereducated to operate at a net loss.

If you cherry pick, and decline too many rides, the Lyft algorithm will stop sending you trips. You are not officially deactivated. It just stops sending you trip requests. I spent a day, accepting every trip. It was a 10 hour day of nothing but $3 to $5.00 rides. it was my worst day ever! I made less than $100. Now, for every 3 rides, I complete, that pays over $10, I accept one low paying fare, and give the rider 1 star, just to reset the algorithm. It seems to be working better, but pay, now, is so low, the Uber and Lyft drivers are operating at a loss!

You can only cherry pick when you're in the right place at the right time; ie Airport during big rush days.
That said I pick rides that get me into a good flow; living in Florida this isn't too hard. I can't however see Uber/Lyft, etc being profitable for drivers in most states these days, at least year round like Florida, or Las Vegas are.

There should a distinction between what is more important to people..
For example let's say from hour x to z we both have our apps on & after we're done you net $250 & I net $175. Did you make more $? Well, yes, but context should be provided. You drove for 8 ride hrs & I only drove for 4 ride hrs while I sat at home (possibly doing other things, etc).
Taking all rides that come to you may result in an overall higher $, however cherrypicking is by far more effecient (also with the added implied theory that if drivers are more selective & efficient, then ultimately Uber must inevitably offer drivers more $).
There is no right or wrong here,,,, for me, cherrypicking is absolutely the best way to go.
    Good luck

Hi guys may be noob asking this info here but maybe some of you would think like me. Why dose Uber and Lyft just create a membership for Driver and Raiders then have the two come up with the prices for driving you to the destination you need to go. We know thar our great boss Uber and Lyft would mind if we profit all the full ride and tips from the customer. This would make more sense faster pick up for the Rider and driver don't need stay still for so long at Airport and other palace that we can be in danger.

I accept roughly 25% I cherry pick like crazy and always take home minimum 150 max 350 in 8 to 10 hours, my average gas consumption is 175 miles, $25 Dollars. I rent a car with Lyft. To keep the rental, you have to complete a minimum of 20 rides a week and the weekly fee (mine is $297) comes out of your earnings first, so I accept all rides Monday through part of Wednesday to get both requirements met, then I cherry pick the remainder of the week unless there's a ride challenge.
