@@hirsakand yes he does anyway... He doesn't use preset effects. All loopers use effects. In real time. When they record a sound and then turn a dial to bend the pitch or increase reverb that's adding an effect. They all use effects
And now days the modern machines have alot of preset effects . Where as it used to all be done on the spot. But prerecorded or premixed sounds, or loops are not allowed.
Just wanted to say, that wasn’t a metronome on Saro’s first round; he actually recorded and looped the sound of him _hitting the play/record button._ It still makes me smile every time I hear it to this day.
If this is your first experience with loopstation beatboxing, I can recommend about 5 classics that can showcase the diversity of this art. 1. Thorsen vs. MB14 2016 Grand Beatbox Battle (GBB for short) 2. Penkyx vs. Thorsen 2017 GBB 3. NME vs. Brez 2019 GBB 4. Robin 2023 GBB Wildcard Round 2 5. Frosty vs. Bizkit 2021 GBB 6. So-So vs. Beatness 2019 GBB There are many more! This is just a list of the most popular performances in this music category. No need to make a video on these if you don't want to, it's simply a pleasure to see people discover and enjoy this niche art.
Hey ! Welcome in beatbox rabbit hole ! ahah On the loopstation there is some effects, MB14 is more like a purist one, close to pure beatbox, but Saro has mastered all the possibility the loop can bring. Saro never lose a battle in his career, now he is a judge on competitions ^^
This battle is my favorite loopstation battle by far, both lads are so good in their own way. Saro really good at playing to the hype of the crowd, but MB14 has such good musicality and vocalism
At the time most loopers where just beatboxing and looping beats and adding mild effects. Saro more or less changed the game and really explore the capacity of what the equipment had to offer at the time and what could be done. Everything he did was from a noise he made, but yes he did distort noises, manipulate pitch and loop and delay things to create a whole new vibe that had not been heard before… (That’s why when Saro is performing you see MB14 watching as no one had done, seen or heard anything like this before) If you listen to more modern loopstation it’s elevated even further to almost a whole new live production level. But this was a good one to start with to see the origins, development and almost turning point of the art, 👌
I love watching people react to this. They are not allowed to use a metronome, so they make their own. Saro just used the sound of his own finger tapping to make his. Saro vs Tioneb is a must see.
so this battle is from 2017 which is kind of where the modern beatbox scene started to really advance. I highly recommend watching brez vs rythmind from the newest GBB just to see how far loop station battles have improved since.
A little insight as to why saro won at least fron what I can gather: firstly, MB14 is by all means one of the best and most creative and loved loopers in the community. I'd say his most iconic aspect is probably his organicness, in that his loops have a more "pure-beatboxing" sound to it since he seems to discipline himself to use less effects than most beatbox loopers, making it all the more fitting for the "all from the mouth" advertisement, which I absolutely appreciate. All that being said, a key factor as to why MB14 loses in a lot of his battles is probably down to originality. As much as he is a great looper, he is also known to suffer from performing mostly cover songs in his battles whereas his opponents tend to perform originally produced tracks like Saro in both of his rounds here for instance. And originality IS one of the main categories of criticism for judging both in beatboxing AND beatbox looping, so it isn't a surprise if that comes as a detriment for him. Not to mention, the "organicness" can come as a double-edged sword at least in competitions as it doesn't necessarily earn you any bonus points. At the end of the day it IS still a loop station competition as much as it is a beatbox competition so the more you can utilize the loop station and showcase your talent and knowledge with it the more likely you are to get any bonus points for it (if there even is any)
Just to add, when you make your own original song it's harder to notice mistakes/misqueues. As clearly seen when mb14 did toxicity and messed up the loop. Someone who hasn't heard the song might not notice it, but it really stood out for anyone who has listened to toxicity many times over.
MB14 ,you can see at the voice france, with gangstas Paradies, also by BGT, British got Talent and also too with, Genius, he won the Finals at the voice france.👍

In loopstation it's illegal to have prerecorded sounds, so its all about presets on different effects
MB14 doesn't use effects
