    It's dangerous to leave doll clothing on when you soak the heads. So many of the Barbie cloths leach dye, ruining the cloths and potentially the doll. As far as hair.... I need it completely clean so I give it a good wash after a dry comb out. I found fabric softener to be the way to go to detangle BUT I leave it in during my boil wash. I rinse it out in cold water after I've combed the hot hair straight. If I'm going to set a style, I restyle the head the way I want, (including curls and braids) tie the whole head up with a piece of nude nylon stocking, boil the whole head again and then dip in ice water to set permanently. The hair stays in the position you boiled it which makes for really smooth bangs and any curl lasts like it was factory set. Think of it as a hot water perm!

      Fantastic info! I have more dolls that need hair help from my thrift lot, so I will try your techniques. Thank you!

    You have given me lots of ideas for my charity shop finds, I will be trying the dipping in boiling water to be sure. I knit my own clothes to fit these dolls once they are clean, or I buy them from charity shops clean and repair them xx

      I love that you knit clothes for them!! I've crocheted a few doll bonnets and hope to do a turorial at some point. Thank you, and keep up the good work of adopting/rescuing! ❤️

    I had gotten a AG Molly whose hair was a frazzle, I dipped her hair in hot water then dipped in ice water. Her hair came out sooo much nicer after it dried. Have you ever tried synthetic wig products? I have tried the spray (after wash and dried or just to spruce up the hair) and it helps bring back the shine.

    • @MaggieToTheRescue
      @MaggieToTheRescue  Рік тому +3

      That's great! I will have to try the ice water after, like you did for Molly, and I will look into products for synthetic hair and use in a video at some point! Thank you!

    It's recommended to dip hair in the boil wash then immediately comb through to make the hair even silkier and repair the ends more. Both your girls look lovely!

    Hi 👋 it’s me @henzcarltupas328 😊I’m glad when you mentioned “ her hair is thicker than Barbies “ YES at the end result, Belle has still had a full head of hair even how long you’d soaked her in fabric softener 😊 hoping to see more Mattel Disney dolls in your upcoming next videos soon!

    I love doll grade kanekalon hair. It's a pity they don't produce it anymore. It was so soft, thin and straight. There's nothing like it.

    The measurement 📏 of Fabric softener would be depending with the length and volume of doll hair. But for dolls with very long hair would be 3. But for dolls like Belle with average length is 2 😊

    lovely video! boil washing is a rather new process to me as well but i've certainly learned a lot over the past few weeks! i actually have the same belle doll as yours, she had her blue dress on when i found her and those twinkling eyes are something else!
    i actually boil washed my belle doll to pretty good results, the waves maintained pretty well and her hair still has body! i've submerged the entire head but can't quite recommend it as the plastic gets so soft that neck plugs can break :(
    as an added bonus though , boiling water can be used to help set styles! i have a wedding fantasy barbie i gave impromptu curlers and basically just dunked her head in the boiling water and then you can either dunk them into ice water or-- don't judge-- put them in the freezer for a couple minutes, though the drying process will obviously take longer lol!
    sorry this is a long comment but this has certainly been a learning process and since we have the same doll i thought i'd share my experience with her! these turned out wonderfully and i'm excited to see what comes next!!! :)

      Thanks for sharing! That's great the boil wash even worked on your Belle's wavy hair. And I will definitely have to try the boil curl set (and ice or freeze!) in the near future. Thanks again and for watching! 💕

    May I recommend the dove shampoo and conditioner they do wonders for doll hair . I usually do my doll with the dove wave shampoo and conditioner and boil wash and their hair feels like silk after it.

    For belle, if you want her curls restored, put her hair in perm rods and then boil wash for a minute.

      @@MaggieToTheRescue I'm glad that Belle 🌹 has still a full head of thick hair it's because you'd soaked her with fabric softener, I'm thankful also that she didn't lose much of hair from brushing 😄 the hair fiber she'd had is saran hair ❤️💞 which is more softer and better than synthetic hair which is the worse type that gets matted
