  • We're back this afternoon with a few quick hits in the tropics.
Off the coast of Florida, Invest 92L made a run at TD status, but fell just short in the NHC's book. The system is still battering NE Florida with gusty winds and downpours, but it doesn't appear Beryl will be crossed off the list just yet. 92L will be ashore this evening near the FL/GA border, ending any development chances.
Back in the SW Gulf of Mexico, the NHC is following what's likely a repeat of Alberto this weekend. The Central American Gyre is still cranking, and it looks like a very similar system to Alberto will spin up and move into Mexico early next week. The main difference is less wind and rain for Texas, as this one will mostly be confined to Mexico, and extreme south Texas near the border. Overall impacts for the US are low.
Next week, we might see the first signs of life in the Main Development Region, but anything that forms doesn't look scary, or likely to impact the US. Should be smooth sailing for a little while at least.
