As someone who has dealt with extremely severe emetophobia my entire life, ruined my quality of life’s my germ OCD, catching illnesses, thinking food will hurt my stomach, always nauseous with pretty bad GERD & acid reflux & on a PPI & take gravol, tums etc on worse occasions. Being on anti anxiety meds right now & being able to learn about how in depth you’re making me understand & feel comfortable that it’s a normal bodily function. I thank you so immensely. The science behind it for me, knowing how things work, help me so much & understand myself better. You’ve eased some anxiety issues for me. Not completely. I don’t think I’ll just “hate” vomiting or “no one like vomiting 🙄” I think I’ll still always have the sense of severe fear of it in the future, but when the time comes, god forbid but it’s normal, I can remind myself of what my body is doing to help me. Thanks to your great teaching skills.
Thank you Sam for another interesting video. My Father was drunk and triped on one of the stairs in the house. He was unconsious then aspirated his stomach contents into his lungs. That was on his death certificate he was only 59 years old. Jon Bonham drummer from Led Zeppelin did exactly the same thing as my dad the year later in 1980, he was only 32 years old. IF you ever come across someone who's drunk and unconcious please put them in the recovery position, rather than let them lie on their back, this could save a life. If your going to be sick make sure you have a friend or family member hold your hair back when vomiting. The last thing you want is regurgitated fluids in your hair.
As with all of your presentations, I am once again mesmerized while learning how amazing the human body is! Certainly each and every one of us is a true miracle. Thank you for your generous teaching!
These reflex videos show how the anatomical systems work together. Amazing stuff! I wondered about the excess saliva in advance of vomiting. You explained it. A nice follow-up might be how ingested pathogens lead to diarrhea. Another useful function.
you are a true scientist and i benefit education from the teachings am sugggesting you please add words describtion to the screen with letters to point at every parts you will be discussing from start to finish please that is the beauty of modern learning from any part of the planet
A complex subject, if only for the medical terms: Chunder Park the tiger Technicolor yawn Drive the porcelain bus Throw your voice Go the big spit with which I'm sadly familiar.
I vomit while travelling and I hate it. Sometimes it starts burning your neck if you vomit for long time and have nothing left in your stomach. I have rarely vomited due to sickness, maybe 3-4 times in 28 yrs.
I have vomited thrice because of the anxiety of exams in childhood and in adult once due to eating the wrong combination till full stomach beyond average limit, and nausea while exercising immediately after months of not regular core strength exercises, but I induced someone's vomiting mechanism by acting it out twice😂.
I dislocated my left shoulder and four times I had painful diarrhoea and threw up water even if I’d eaten I only threw up water? I said to a gp have I damaged my vagus nerve? Her reply “ if I’d damaged my vagus nerve I’d be dead”. Hum

You didnt damage your vagus nerve but extreme pain and the emotional impact of injurycan make you vomit.

...as opposed to regurgitation...?...lol. I know some animals do it purposely, as a need, but I 1der if humans regurgitate purposely...Haha...Hmm.
