This is the first fly I did on this channel. However, not many people saw it back then. But there was a reason it was the first; this is, by FAR, my favorite dropper fly! I would highly encourage giving it a try, and if you don’t tie you can find it on my website here: www.mainely-outdoors.com/product-page/buggy-vinyl-stone-fly Or tie it up with these materials: Thread 1: collabs.shop/zxiaqc Thread 2 0/6: collabs.shop/yhslvd Legs and tail: collabs.shop/cbwm22 Vinyl: collabs.shop/j6njoa Lead-free wire: collabs.shop/mc79nw Back: collabs.shop/9pzpgp Dubbing: collabs.shop/qw1upl Bead: collabs.shop/fwblap Hook: collabs.shop/ekrydm Recommended Uv resin: collabs.shop/mps6am Recommended Uv light: collabs.shop/dqpuhd
Your videos got me into fly tying, I don’t have any of the gear materials or anything but I can make it work with random things in my house. You make the Best most entertaining fly tying videos on UA-cam. Just keep doing what you’re doing.
That all you really need is creativity! Materials are excellent but go wander around a hobby lobby or something, and you can stock up on some cheap materials if you are creative.
I love coming back and seeing your page exploded with subscribers ! 137k is crazy in the short amount of time you’ve been doing this . Happy that our art is gaining new heights . That’s a next level stonefly pattern . Great works ! Keep grinding and growing ! Much love
Thanks for this video! The materials list in the video description is broken, however. It would be really handy to see that so I could know if I have what's needed before starting.
#flies! My favorite channel these days!! spring is here in Colorado and was waste deep in the drink this afternoon it's gonna be a good season best wishes to all out yonder
Love your videos and looking to continue to grow my fly box. I started fly fishing last year and the first fly I caught a fish on was a stone fly imitation. Yours look way better, can’t wait to try some out! #flies
#flies this is one of my favourite yet because I love the combo is black and gold it just looks soooooo nice previously the glass shrimp you made was my favourite because of how realistic it looks, if a was a fish I would keep biting on this one because it’s so cool
# flys - That is a very nice stone fly. I’m gonna give it a shot, l just worry about not having enough space around the head to fit everything in. Something I’m working on. I
I might film a few days but it won’t have time to edit those long videos until later in July. Working on my PhD. Thesis as well right now and it’s taking up too much of my time time and energy. Looking forward to getting that done and putting all my energy into all the channels
I'm not 100% sure the one I use labels it as medium probably closer to 1mm If i had to guess. That said what you use will depend on the size of the fly. This was a size 8 If i remember correctly. 0.8 will work better for size 12 on
You can find stone flies in the water year around. That’s one reason they make for a great searching pattern. However, they are best fished when they are emerging that tends to be late summer into the fall. But depends on species and the river.
#Flies Great videos. I’m a new fly tier, it would be awesome if you expanded your tying kits on your website. I don’t have a ton of tying material right now and I’m still figuring out what to buy/how much.
I should be getting around to that soon. I want to start to build a monthly service that’s geared to help build peoples materials while helping them learn new patterns.
…. at this pace, you might just run out of bugs. Dad always swore by a famous Bloody Mary, i think it was, or perhaps a Bloody Butcher: a mainly black fly with a snatch of red… do you have one in your roster? Would you rate the ‘Butcher’. [askin’ for a friend] I’ll have to look at your catalogue, guilty as i haven’t yet. Great work as always. Stay safe, remain brave. ✌
There are so many out there! But it will definitely get harder to seek out outstanding ones. This is actually the first fly I ever posted on the channel but no one really saw it back then. It's a really great one so thought I'd bring it back up. I have actually never heard of that one but I just looked it up; I would definitely fish that here in Maine! I'll have to add it to the list.

Great easy fly to tie. Planning to tie this fly in Colorado river.
I’m sure it will do well there too, let me know how it goes
Great fly. Been fly fishing and tieing for 53 years and though my hands aren’t to steady anymore I can’t wait to try to make a few of them up.

#Flies Great pattern and at my age retired I think I can tie that. Thanks for sharing Jessie the best to you.

#flies this is one of my favourite yet because I love the combo is black and gold it just looks soooooo nice previously the glass shrimp you made was my favourite because of how realistic it looks, if a was a fish I would keep biting on this one because it’s so cool

Do you cut together audio samples for your narration? It's an interesting flow of cadence
#flies - 6! That would last me. Count me in. These Pennsylvania Browns find it hard to resist a good stonefly.
# flys - That is a very nice stone fly. I’m gonna give it a shot, l just worry about not having enough space around the head to fit everything in. Something I’m working on. I

Thts beautiful bro!
The Vinyl rib is 0.8 or 1mm? Good video!

Will it imitate little black stoneflies?
#Flies I'm learning. Thanks!
What months of the year would this fly be most effective for trout?
You can find stone flies in the water year around. That’s one reason they make for a great searching pattern. However, they are best fished when they are emerging that tends to be late summer into the fall. But depends on species and the river.

@@MainelyFlies Excellent, yes, i believe it's called a 'bloody butcher', but it could be a 'bloody Mary' [after the Queen of Scots].
