    • @josemanuellastra2488
      @josemanuellastra2488 Рік тому

      I understand your frustration
      I have a Sonos Roam and it is very unreliable, music is almost always cutting out and the speaker disconnects from the app, even having a great Wi-Fi signal at home and while all other devices in my network are fine, the compatibility with voice assistants isn’t any good and forget about Alexa messaging, calling and dropping, it’s not even supported. Bluetooth pairing only works with the rear button, but I can’t do it through Voice control and once paired, music stops playing for 1 second every 5 minutes or so.
      I’ll send it back cause I don’t want to deal anymore with disgusting connection issues and to no avail kind of solutions, I was absolutely happier with my blue Amazon echo, it always worked fine, so, I guess it’s time to buy it again and reframe from buying Sonos portable speakers because they don’t even support Sonos net for robust playback.
      Sonos Roam sounds great, but hey, it has too many connection issues and flaws with the voice assistants

    I have the boost, and 3 satellite orbi 38, and still have issues of dropping, lost groups, etc. I hate Sonos but am so invested (over 6k), it’s hard to start over. Shen it works its great. It rarely works. I’ve done all of your suggestions.

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  6 місяців тому

      I think the Orbi 38 might be the problem. I don't know that device specifically, but that kind of meshing Wi-Fi from my experience is terrible. Often, it create more trouble than it solve.
      Look for centering the wi-fi in your home, and if you want to expand, use cable to create Acces Point.

    • @mowieboy
      @mowieboy 6 місяців тому

      Had trouble even before the orbi, but interesting to hear the mesh may be an issue. Thought it was supposed to be better/more reliable. The modem/router/boost with direct connection to a speaker are central in the house. Which is less than 2000 sq ft, 2 levels. What do you mean by direct cable connection? As in cable service from the wall connected to what? It’s already connected to the modem/router. Any help you can give would be great, because I definitely am not getting all I can from my system

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  6 місяців тому

      It's more about your messhing system.
      I did not yet made a video about this but....
      The best way to expand your wi-fi is to install Access point.
      Difference between repeater (what you have) and access point is that AP are connected with a network cable to your router, and repeater just recast what they get over Wi-Fi.
      That said, most of your Sonos device might not connect to Wi-Fi if you have a boost.
      Unless you have ERA, move or roam.

    I had a Boost wired to my router, so all the other Sonos products were in the Sonos mesh network, and was having constant music dropouts. For YEARS!!! Then I installed a new router, again with the Boost wired to it , and BAM , problem solved. Since the Sonos products were on their own mesh network I don’t understand this. But anyway now after years of cussing Sonos it finally works! The old router was the final version of Apple Airport Extreme and the new router is a TP link Deco X20. So if you can’t solve your dropout issue, see if a new router fixes it. The explanation is unknown to me.

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  10 місяців тому

      Of course the router can make a hude difference as everything pass by it. I remember there was a box to uncheck in that Airport Extreme to avoid a multimedia filtering.

      Hi Max. Yes of course connecting a play one will do about the same job as a boost. Howerver the Boost antenna is stronguer than the play1. But in most cases, the play1 will do the job. I see the Boost as a tool to use when your router is in a room where you will never listen to music.

    My friend, thank you for this informative video. One questions, my new apartment uses Google wifi mesh network (2.4/5ghtz). However, I cannot choose which channel the sonos system connects to. I have a 5.1 system (arc, 2 one sl, and sub). I have heard of people walking down the street to connect to the 2.4 channel and setting up that way. Would you recommend the boost to avoid any issues? Is it absolutely necessary? Will the boost for sure pick the 2.4 channel? And when using the sonos app through my phone, it needs to be connected to the 2.4 channel as well correct? If so, I’m walking down the street until I clear the 5ghtz connection and connect to the 2.4 channel? Any feedback would be tremendously appreciated sir.
    Warm regards,
    Blake

    • @HowToPM
      @HowToPM  3 роки тому

      Hi Blake. You router send a 2.4 and 5ghz network, but it doesn't matter wich one you use. They are still represent the same network. Sonos can only be connected to 2.4ghz network. They have no 5ghz antenna.
      Anyway, once you will use the boost, all your sonos devices will connect to the boost instead of your Wi-Fi.
      About walking down the street, the 2.4ghz should be the network that you can see at a maximum distance.
      2.4ghz is fast and have a great range.
      5.0ghz is very fast but on a smaller range.

    Connecting one of your Sonos products to your router with an Ethernet cable will put your system into a wired setup.
