Huawei P40 Pro BEST CHEAP SUPER SLOW MOTION Camera Phone Test

- The Huawei P40 Pro is the best cheap super slow motion camera phone available, as we'll see in this simple ultra slow motion test. At around £600 its a cheap super slow motion camera phone compared to the very expensive high end professional slow motion video cameras on the market today. I haven't gone into the Huawei P40 Pro's slow motion settings in-depth, as that's for another video if people request it in the comments. But I will say, like all slow motion cameras, the P40 Pro's super slow motion function needs lots of light to capture the slow-mo footage. This is because slow motion cameras run at high speed and therefore need more light to capture the information.
The Huawei P40 pro slow motion fps options are; 120 fps (4 X speed), 240 fps (8 X speed), 960 fps (32 X speed), 1920 fps (64 X speed) and 7680 fps (256 X speed). Another thing to be aware of is that anything shot in 960 fps or lower is captured in 1080p (HD), while anything above that such as 1920 fps or 7680 fps is captured in 720p and therefore less quality.
All things considered, Huawei's P4O Pro is a much cheaper alternative and probably the best high speed video camera phone around for shooting good quality slow motion and super slow motion video footage for the amateur and semi-professional film maker.

Sorry for the late reply. It has a sensor that picks up movement. It starts recording as soon as it detects that movement. It then records for a very short period, around 1-2 seconds I think it was. Not sure exactly as I don't have that phone anymore, hope this helps.
Thank you very much for this video, it’s clear that the 7680fps is using interpolation, but I was expecting that, and I’m glad you could confirm it for me.
It’s hard to tell if it’s just 2x or if it’s 4x interpolation, but either way it’s more than enough for something as small and cheap as a smartphone.

I want to ask, what the speed of bullet? Is it normal gun? Or airgun?
It's an airgun. A regular bullet would need to be slowed down much more. Take a look on the 'slow mo guys' channel for that 👍
Yes, it can do 7680fps, but don't forget it's because of frame reprojection. It probably records in 3840fps or lower and add reprojected frames.

@@MyTechTalks I recognize reprojected frames easily. You can see a bit of ghosting around fast moving objects. Looks the same on TVs that play movies at 58fps (reprojected from 24fps), as well in VR.
i don't know too much about slow mo tech, but the 7680 fps footage looks very strange to me. at 3:20, it seems like the glass shatters immediately, but the broken pieces fall apart very slowly. so some movements look extremely slow, while others do not.
That's an interesting point. I'm no scientist or mathematician, but I'm guessing the initial impact is more extreme and therefore creates faster movement than just after where the pieces move away from that point more slowly. It's more obvious in slow motion than normal speed as you wouldn't notice any difference at all in normal speed as it's all moving too fast for the eye to see any difference in speed at any point. Good point, I never noticed it at all 😉👌

As an airgun shooter i like your video :) you try filmic pro software ? You can switch between other lenses at filmic pro when shooting slowmo :) for example native camera app always use wide lens, you can use main lens at filmic

I'm sorry it was a while ago now and can't honestly remember off hand. It might be something from incompetech by Kevin Mcleod. Google search either of those and search his site under 'alternative music' or 'new age music' and you might find it or something very similar. There is only one problem with slow motion on Huawei P40 Pro. Duration of record. It stops before the footage is ended and there is no possibility to record longer videos above 8x slow motion. Despite of that preaty nice.
I agree. It works from a movement sensor and only lasts a second or more. The file size is also quite big for the relatively short length of footage. But yes, pretty cool I think 👌

Not above 240fps. The super slow motion only lasts for literally about one second. I don't have it anymore so can't be specific.

Can you help! Ive watched every vid about slo mo phones, but no one has said how long you can video for, 10 secs, 60 secs, 300 secs ? it is important to me, I know it is dependent on buffers and memory for each phone, which is the best for longevity?
I can help you...At 4x and 8x, users can take as much video as they want, and extend it all into slo-mo, but for the 32x speedup and beyond, the system will record a certain amount of video and slow it down. At 32x speedup, the video is 16 seconds, essentially recording 0.5 seconds of video. At 64x, the video is 32 seconds, recording 0.5 seconds of video. At 256x however, the video is also 32 seconds, meaning that the sensor can only record 0.125 seconds of video. It is worth taking that into account.
I've only just seen your breakdown here and I have to say, very well explained. There's no literature on this that I could find so couldn't have explained it in such depth myself. Nice explanation 👌

It's 720 on the super slow mo as in this video. It does 1080 up to 980 fps I think I can remember as I don't have this phone anymore.

You can't on this phone. That's as high as it goes and the highest I know of on a mobile phone. It can be slowed down more in the editing software, but it will probably be a bit a bit jumpy. Other than that it's a high speed camera for the best slow motion footage which costs thousands, like they use on the slow mo guys channel. Hope that helps 🤞

When you're at 960 or 1920 are you able to adjust your exposure before filming? Does it allow?
