Watched all your vids last night and this morning for an interview I had this afternoon. They offered me the job before I got home. I didn’t take the offer unfortunately because my heart wasn’t in it but I was very well prepared. Thank you so much.

I’m bingeing your videos- I need to tape myself answering questions I don’t know why that makes me nervous 😬. I also got the resumes printed with the resume paper. I’m waiting for the recruiter to give me the date for my third interview this will be onsite.

There is a delicate balance between finding common topics and appearing too chatty. I know a couple of people that have had a really hard time getting hired and my suspicion is that their nerves take the best of them and their chattiness becomes a liability when they interview.

I have been watching ALL of your videos and have learned a lot. I do have a question for you. Is it ok to take a paper in with reminders of your scenario answers for Tell us about a time.... not a huge written thing that you read from, but a one word example beside the scenario for initiative or difficult employee...like on a cue card. I tend to be forgetful when I'm nervous and have tons of great examples but I'm afraid I'll go blank.

Watching these kinds of videos is incredibly frustrating.
I've been applying for job trainings / apprenticeships for well over a year now, at this point probably around 300 applications. I designed my CV and and cover letter myself, changing the latter one up depending on company and specific job, I had several people look over them, including professional coaches and the likes - everyone keeps telling me how this and that is great, yet I barely get any responses from companies.
On the rare occasion where I get an actual Interview I inform myself as best as I can beforehand, I dress the part, prepare for as much as I can, always on time, always polite, always eye contact (but no staring), I even trained to speak without any accent whatsoever. Usually during those interviews there's no way to connect with these people either because they tend to be just ice forking cold, not a single smirk, not a single frown, nothing, no matter what I do or say, no matter what kind of stories I tell, it's basic question after basic question after basic question - and when the interview is over I don't have any clue where I stand. I might start adding the hesitancy question, but at this point it's just getting depressing.
I've watched dozens if not a hundred videos and read probably twice or three times as many articles about anything interview-related, and every single one keeps telling how 'you just need to be yourself and do these very basic things', yet I just can't seem to convince to take me under their wing for 2-3 years for jobs that any 12 year old could do well in. It's getting harder and harder to not sound completely desperate and resentful in these interviews and to remain energetic and enthusiastic.
I don't know what it is, I don't know what else to do and every time I have an upcoming interview and I'm watching these kinds of videos I'm just getting angry... angry because it's so easy and so simple to get a job yet it seems like that I'm so incapable and uninteresting that just no one could possibly care to bother with me.

Whatever there is no point dwelling on things that don’t work out the way you want. A thing might happen to you that you disliked but it might have been good for you. The only thing we can do now is learn and grow.

In the UK - never send a thank you note. It’s cringeworthy here, seen as trying to peddle favour with recruiters and very fake.

Hey Cassandra. I passed my first interview and the interviewer informed me he will pass me to the second interview. The original email communication was from HR and I did not have the interviewers email address. I searched for the email via LinkedIn and he did not have it posted. I also scoured the company website and nothing. Any advice? I would like to make it more personal seeing it was him I interviewed with and not HR. Thank you!

Question : if we’re in a bit of rush to get the result of the interview cause we already have a job offer somewhere else,
How can we tell them in way that’s polite but at the same time straight to the point?
    Thanks

    • @mtrotter325

      I'm not a career counselor and don't play one on UA-cam 🤓🤓
What I am currently doing is phrasing that I am being transparent with them and let them know where I am in the interview process.
If I prefer to work at one company, I tell them that they are my main target and really want to work with them however have received an offer from another company. Also I would let them know the timing of when a decision needs to be made. You may not be in a financial position to wait for their response in a week or two. If you believe they are delaying the process, the company may have issues making decisions, which is something I consider.
      Good luck to you!
