Just announced by Udio:
Hi everyone,
We've rolled out a few cool updates to the platform:
Track length limit is now 15 minutes. Enjoy generating prog epics and extended trance mixes.
Context length for extensions has increased from 30 seconds to 2 minutes. This means Udio can "see" more of your track when generating an extension. In practice it means you can reference and repeat audio from further away in the track. Consistent choruses are now easier to achieve than ever.
You can now switch between the flat and the tree view in "My Creations". In the tree view, children tracks (e.g., extensions) are displayed underneath parent tracks.
Please keep the feedback coming, and let us know if you have any issues with these features in particular.
🎉 let's get the party started 🎉 amazing news 😮
Thanks so much for sharing this uldate news. I didn't know about it!
k just read this, i am so hard right now.
(also these are called parentheses)
I can't extend more than the 30 seconds at a time. The cropping is working. I am wondering if all of these features are rolled out or these things are still to come.🤔
It would be great to get a video explaining the cropping. I managed to delete all the work I had done whilst trying to t extend. 😥But it looks a great feature
For those looking for the meta tags taught in this video:
[Verse x]
[Chorus]
[Chorus repeats]
[Verse repeats] - Repeats the pattern more or less of the previous verse melody
[Interlude]
[Instrumental]
[ Solo]
[Voiceover] - Speech to text
[Spoken] - As if said by someone
[Laughter] - Like crowd laughter
Okay NGL this is pretty much the definitive video to take advantage of Udio. Focus watched till the end. Thx.
Thanks!
Hi, Thank you for that nice video. Here is roughly 30 tags or so you can try
[Verse]
[Chorus]
[Verse]
[Chorus-CHOIR ONLY]
[Chorus][CHOIR ONLY] Can sometimes work better if broken up
Add descriptive Style Words to metatags to guide how the lyrics should be sung.
[Sad Verse]
[Happy Chorus]
[Female Vocal Verse]
[Choir Chorus]
Use musical terms to influence the genre.
[Rapped Verse]
[Powerpop Chorus]
You can also also try to put it all together.
[Verse][Powerful Male & Female Vocals][Powerfull Choir]
or test to write it i different ways
[Verse, Powerful Male vocal, Female Vocal, female only Choir]
[Verse-Powerful Male vocal, Heavy guitar riffs and Drums, Female only Choir]
Had some great results with where first two lines can be Female vocal and the last 2 lines a male vocal in a verse for example.
Choir will sing words withing ( ) sings at end at most times then.
Works really good with symphonic or musical style songs.
Tips to test it with:
Symphonic Metal
Futuristic Opera
Broadway Musical
Pre-chorus and Bridge

[Bridge]
[Shout]
[Whimsical]

Your tips have been incredibly helpful, and I truly appreciate the time and effort you've invested in sharing them. However, one major challenge I encounter is the inability to edit lyrics within the initial 33 seconds while maintaining the same musical accompaniment. This limitation forces me to either create a new 33-second composition or remix, inevitably resulting in a different song or melody altogether.
Some Deathcab For Cutie vibes at 12 minutes there! 😂
This is a nice tutorial that answered a few questions that would have taken me a bit of time to discover on my own!
Nice job!!!
I think this service is really fantastic for creating some inspirational material to work with as a base or starting point without spending hours noodling around on a synth or guitar and basically just having the musical equivalent of "writer's block" 😋
It's unbelievable that you use so many AI tools, cover the best of them, and even give tips as a power user
Thank you. Have subscribed for many months now, and haven't had the need to check out other AI-related channel since you cover all the newsworthy parts of AI news and ofc AI software (still using the vocal extractor and vocal trainer)
Thanks, I appreciate it!
I'd love a similar rundown on using the prompt field. I'm certain there must be more control to be had there. Great insights so far, thanks!
This is a great class on using Udio, which i happen to use professionally now!
you guys are such amazing musicians, incredible talent! 😃
must be a joke for shure. Letting an AI generate the music does not make you a musician. If anything you are a moccery of a musician. Disgusting shit this is. DOnt even think of calling AI honks musicians if you dont want to insult every real musician here on the planet
Just kidding?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
you just made my day ! my weeks and the next year to come !
Great video man! Thank you for making it!! Kudos!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
My pleasure!
i got great results with 60s soul, delta blues, new wave 1980s, 60s easy listening (in the style of burt bacharach) grunge, i do think its worth using "in the style of" because it adds new prompts to direct it towards that style.
Man, I really loved the 1st version sound.
this help me alot back to the shadows i return
enjoy!
Actually the artist one you mention that it can't do, for me personally it still finds something close to the style of the artist even though it says it will replace it. It just finds something similar to the style. Also, sometimes it puts words in between in the song, which I can't remove, if I like the parts on the other side of the song, which sucks. I sometimes use manual mode because it works better for what I want. It kinda forces it to be in a certain style and minimise the risk of it using words I didn't write in the lyrics. That's at least my experience.
I hope they one day makes it possible to get a karaoke version of the song written, so I don't have to use a vocal remover, since that isn't as perfect as having the real instrumental of the song.
Udio creates music with a real singer's voice, in my language I asked to create music and to my surprise it was the voice of a famous singer in my country
Who was the singer and do you have the song to compare?
May happen when the data base for that country is small. If the singer is too "famous" and did a relevant % music, machine "learns" that a % of the times a singer shold be have such a voice. Is up to you NOT publish that song because it would be a violation. (is the same if I asked to sing a song of mine like "sinatra" to a human imitator, then I can use for my personal listening but is not right to commercialize it!)
this is because they trained their models on copyrighted material. If you don't want any legal issues stay away from it
It's not music lmaaao.
@@ruxboxyeah I'd never publish anything under my name, I only generated prompt based ripoff songs to see how far I can make it rip others off.
You can also use chords in udio like
[Verse]
[C]Turn down the [Em7] lights, turn down the [C] bed
Turn down these [G/B]voices [Em7]inside my [Am7]head
[C]Lay down with [Em7]me, tell me no [C] lies
Just hold me [G/B]close, [Em7]don't patro[[Am7]nize
Don't pator[G/D]nize [D]me
Tried it. Didn't work.
This tool is absolutely incredible. So fun!!! I've never had a good voice and my days touring with bands is over. This allows me to still "make " music, but better than I ever have before.
enjoy!
Tested Udio for 2 weeks. I can tell it does an amazing Metal.
thank you for your fantastic tips!
my pleasure!
Thanks for the data, with this I will be able to have more control over the songs I am creating, thank you
No problem!
They recently increased the context length from 33 seconds to two minutes. That's why consistency works now. Greetz
incredible Video dude !! seriously
Thanks!
You are the Boss Man!!
for Time signature, try typing in Mixed or Complex or Compound Time Signature. It Also understands Poly-Rhythmic. for rhythm add straight or swing.
Thanks for sharing!
Sweet videos man!
thanks!
As a non-native English speaker I prefer Suno , because it has more capabilities when it comes to customization and using non English lyrics. I hope udio start to improve on this one!
same here , i prefer Suno
Hey, could you say more about what you mean? I'd love to know more about how Suno is better or what it offers
@@WaitingForTheHook for instance, you could put an Arabic lyric or Text in Suno and it ACTUALLY sings the lyrics very well, but in Udio it doesn’t work significantly for Languages besides English, another thing in Suno is that The Quality of the songs got improved ( at least in my experience ) , so yeah overall Suno is better than Udio in my opinion just cuz it works for me. U should try it.
This is a bit of a short coming for every model, Suno included, for your use case though this makes sense, Suno has been trained on many more langauges if im not mistaken, and Udio has been trained on mostly the popular ones, it does Brazilian okay, and Latin perfectly biut if thats not what your going for then eh
@@WaitingForTheHookSuno also generally sounds better, but this is coming from a music snob. I notice less errors with following the prompt and overall less randomness. Sometimes uduo takes me 7-10 tries just to get the genre mix right where Suno hits it the first time
First radio play of a Udio song was last night on Oystermouth Radio at just after 9:15pm. The show should be repeated tonight at the same time.
Thank you so much brother!
You're welcome!
Wouah Thanks for tips !
That was great. Ty

Some really helpful stuff in here! In the end it's all taste, but personally I think the stuff it generates when you do simple prompts like pop/country/folk/etc is really generic and boring. I mean, I could listen to any playlist on Spotify and get the same cookie-cutter music. You get much more interesting stuff if you give it one or two genres and then add descriptors. Words like Ethereal, Emotive, Pensive, Melancholy, Joyous, Mechanical, Innovative, Strange, Uptempo, Downtempo, etc will give you much more interesting music. It's hard to really control where it's going using many words, but honestly I think that's the fun of it.
Thanks for sharing these keywords. I'll try them out!
Great video!

I'm digging the tune

You're welcome!
Appreciate your video
thank you for your great videos. I'm currently making a lot of music on my channel with Udio
Best of luck!
Great presentation and very clearly explained. Glad this came up on the algorithm. About to have a crack.
They actually improved the consistency yesterday by changing the context length from 30 secs to 2 minutes when generating clips. You can still only generate 30 sec clips but it can use up to 2 minutes as context.
Oh nice!
Which still sucks. Basically you have to get your verse or hook done in that first clip. Then roll back and try and generate the hook or verse that comes 2nd, and THEN and only THEN once you have those 2, can you then go forward with the song to get cohesion. This is a huge waste of credits. Credits they will eventually be selling. They don't want you to get what you want too quickly.

This is a very good and informative video
top video about Udio!
Thanks!
very helpfull :) [chorus repeat] ... thanks :)
my pleasure!
many good things here in this video, bravo! thx alot!
my finding: there is a prompt for scenery sounds, what i dont know how to use or what it could be.
e.g. i tried to make a rocksong inspired by the "Dune" movies. and what udio did, was adding Battlesounds at the ending of the song (Laserguns, screaming, explosions), without any input by me (just made an instrumental outro). actively trying things, like [sound of sandstorm] or something didnt work at all.
Thanks for sharing!
I had it switch up my genre to 1990s R&B and it was pretty spot on and worked much better than the initial prompt. Also even though it won't copy a singer, it does seem to at least take the suggestion for the vocal. I did a swing song. It replaced Dean Martin but the vocals were still close to how he sings.
nice! thanks for sharing
Rhyming “smiled” with “ beguiled” in a song is pretty brilliant.
Wow, that’s right up there with "red dress on" / "all night long" for originality! (Coming up next: the return of "moon / June / croon"!) 😉
What AI can you use for music composition.Ex: time signature via 3/4, 1/2, 6/8, 12/8 etc. Music behavior via: adante, moderate forte, crescendo, resolve, cut time?
Awesome tips and trick. Thank you so much! When manually entering lyrics, if I want that on a specific language, should I introduce [verse 1 in spanish], for example ?
yes, that should work. I've heard Udio works well with some languages but not others, and that Suno is more consistent if you have multiple languages in the lyrics. but worth trying both out!
Hi! Just in case anyone knows, why are the udio songs tuned to 442hz instead of 440? If I change it to 440 so I can later add more instruments it doesn't sound the same.
Just Thanks !!😊
You're welcome!
Great video. I've learned a lot, but I have a question. Can you force song structure for instrumental songs (no lyrics)? For example, I'm trying to create an instrumental and I want to maintain the themes from previous sections but the AI just wants to take the song a completely different direction. Basically every new extension sounds like a different song. In the video, you were able to maintain the the chorus and verse melodies, but how do you do that with an instrumental?
Exactly what I wanted to ask. But would it not work if we write in the lyrics field something like [theme 1] and then [theme 1 repeats] in extensions? Without any other words. Will the AI still add voice?
Groovy tune, northern soul
Can it do dialogs as well? Replica is getting a bit expensive for mere experimenting and what little I had of my demo creds are gone.
AWESOME!~!!!!
Thanks!
Is there a list or repository of meta tags you can provide?
Hi. Just wanted to say, that I've managed to make Udio create really catchy pop songs, for example in the style of an extremely popular swedish quartet, complete with very authentic harmonies, so Udio IS certainly totally usable for pop, although it may take several attempts (but so does most genres) - Some keywords I use are: melodic, catchy, harmonies, europop, sing along and progressive pop - I've even tried "earworm"
Always making sure to have at least one of these tags near the beginning of the tag list, to make sure it doesn't get ignored.
I've even had Udio throw in a children's choir - without being asked - when it fit the outro of a song, and afaik there's no actual option to request a children's choir.
With regards to using "manual mode" or not, I'm more ambivalent than you, having found that Udio often completely drowns your imput in favor of all the extra suggestions and tips it insists to have. At other times, though, it works just fine.
I've also finally worked out how to use the "extension placement" option: you mark everything that you want to REMAIN in the song, so the trick is to end the marking just before any unwanted excess material that may not match the part you're trying to add, like the "aaaah" in your example. Unfortunately you can't zoom, so it won't be ultra precise and the marker can be a bit finicky when selecting, but I've managed to save a couple of problematic songs this way.
Thanks for sharing these awesome tips! I'll have to give these keywords a try, especially 'earworm'!
@@theAIsearch 3 examples of catchy pop songs, all published, so anyone can look them up:
1. Birds in Flight (3 different versions)
2. Echoes of Embrace
3. This Endless Dance (2 versions, one of them with the children's choir that Udio invented out of the blue)
With the chorus you don't have to use repeat. It will automatically try to repeat it. But I haven't tried to add repeat to a verse I hope that can help. Thank you!
Also for those watching, Udio has since been updated since this video was made. It now doesn't matter if a clip of a song ends in something you don't want...because you can crop it out and extend from the part that you choose.
Also when generating a genre prompt, you can actually just type in a description of the sound you want. Like instead of using tags like Country, Rock, Classical music, you could write "country rock song with a classical influence" similar to how AI image prompts work. I have gotten good results with this method.
I want to address you saying about those genres that don't work out well in Udio...I will say it is less consistent than Suno, but when you get a good seed, it will be far better sounding than Suno because it's in stereo and vocals have more breath. Also like I said, describing the song style/sound you want can sometimes be more effective than putting in tags.
Something that's not touched on in this video I want to address...with Udio, if the lyrics that you write don't rhyme, it has a very hard time making it sing. This is one of the things Suno still does far better than Udio. So if you have a song that doesn't rhyme, you need to be well under the character limit, at least 100 to 150 characters under. So if you want Udio to sing lyrics that don't rhyme, it should be no more than 200 characters per section. You may still have to try a few times to get a seed that will sing as most times it will just be spoken words mixed with instrumentals.
great vdo bro🔥🔥, i always like ur tutorial its super easy to understand and good explanation
Thanks!
Any idea on how to make Udio to Change keys correctly esp. at last choruses? I have experienced some which changed keys but failed to maintain proper harmonies. It had off key endings. Thanks for the useful infos.
Perhaps try adding [transpose] or [+1 semitone] before the last chorus. I haven't tested it though.
My only problem now is lyrics, gpt and any other chatbot sucks at it, the lyrics it makes are always robotic, poetic and metaphoric even after instructed to NOT write it in such. Thank you making an effort and sharing this 😊
Opus has been good for me with lyrics.
@@bgill7475 That is actually what I'm using at the moment! It is good, but I can still tell it's AI. I tried feeding it with lyrics compiled in a PDF and a PDF tutorial about songwriting, and it actually improved the output, although I still need to tweak it manually to sound more human-like
@@i.washere yeah, I just use it as a tool, not really the end product. I think of these models as being general purpose in their output, they don’t know me or anything really about what I want. It’s like talking to someone in a dark room that can’t see you and doesn’t know anything about you. Because everyone has different taste, tweaking is generally necessary to get it to something that works for you. You can ask it to mix styles in the way it writes and continue to explain you want something in a certain way in a conversation, but the lyrics or story or whatever generally aren’t something that speaks to me until I tweak it myself.
Can UDIO make acapella vocals for my own remixing? I just tried using udio today for the first time and it created great songs in funk and disco pop styles. I would like to get the vocals but the online stem splitters I tried don't get the voices out cleanly.
I can se that "House of rising sun" and "Amazing Grace" is in the library in UDIO. Chords seems to be ok. How did the include the song/melody and lyrics?
In the library? What does that mean? (Link?)
I remade the Code Monkey song with UDIO
Udio really needs to get rid of the extension malarkie and just allow you past a whole song's lyrics in, so you don't end up with starts and stops in your song. Sometimes it works out for dramatic effect, sometimes not so much so.

@@choppergirlfpv How did you get the talking vs singing and the applause?
That's an amazing AI love song. 1960s meets 2030!
what i find fascinating about this is, it teaches you how songwriting really works, lyrics first, melody second, and then arangement
Hi! I would love to know how to have a consistent singer for several songs. I heard it can be done on Udio, but I'm not sure how.
Great video! Thanks!
Have you figured out how to change the dynamics of the song? From melodic soothing to screaming, for example?
Try (scream)
@@saulg195 Did, but didnt work. But I think they had some bug last week. I will test it out again.
When I stem my vocals from Udio songs and run them through Kits to change to another singer, they always cause the conversion to glitch out and randomly go up and down in pitch like bad autotune. The settings on Kits do not matter, always the same result. Probably because of certain fx and "fuzziness" from the AI generations. Is there a way to EQ or filter the vox track first to smooth it out in a way that will then be accurately interpreted by Kits for a good and useable conversion?
What is Kits?
Two other genres it's good at are reggae and folk music. It seems to be better at the genres that are a little slower and have naturally clearer word pronunciations. A good way to speed up the song is to put as many lyrics in as you can for the 32 seconds, fewer lyrics being generated at a time the slower-paced the song will be.
I noticed an "inpainting" function today (something that I was looking for last night which was literally staring me in the face.) 😳
I haven't tried it yet, but seems like it should be pretty powerful for editing.
Yeah, they just announced it today!
@ai-tools-search AHHHH so that's why it wasn't there last night!! I woke up and saw it today and thought I'd either missed exactly what I was looking for, gone insane, or had too many beers 🙄
(The latter was probably true but at least I'm not crazy!) 😋
@ai-tools-search Oof. Looks like they limited daily credits too 😋
UDIO, I'M SORRY FOR HAMMERING YOUR SERVERS ALL NIGHT UNTIL 6AM
(I literally had to call out sick for work today because I could not stop to sleep)
🤣🤣🤣
I'm trying to get Udio to use a male and female voice in harmonies and separately in different verses in the same song. I've had a little success, but does anyone have any ideas?
Always use MANUAL MODE slider, also with extending a track. This gives you more prompt power for the style you want to use.
All quite amazing but that show tunes version was a jawdropper.
I put [Bridge] after the song goes its own way and it brings back the original melody, bridging the two modes together.
I got some good results for EDM. But yeah, Suno is quite nice with it.
Do you have any suggestions for spoken word?
Around 30:00, when you fix the HTML, the melody changed. Did you change it or is it not possible to keep it?
Unless the song is extended or remixed [remixing here wouldn't have helped because it likely would still mispronounce the words] it will not keep the same sound/seed, if you create a new generation, as was done here, it will be in a new seed which will be a different creation/interpretation by the AI from scratch.
Can I upload a music to the website? then extend it?
I just deleted my music by mistake but luckily I downloaded it before deleting it 😌
I just want to upload it again 😅
loved this bruh....
Thanks!
When I added the song I was imitating and then the artist name without “in the style of” I got a song very much in the style of the artist though not so much in the style of the song, but still in the same ball park.
11:55 that beat is so fcking awesome holy maccaroni
How to use the same voice from another video you did?
How do I generate several songs keeping the same voice as the singer?
Thx
No problem
CAN U MAKE THE SAME VIDEO BUT IN DIFERENTE LANGUAJES TOO MUSIC IN SPANISH OR JAPANESE ANIME MUSIC AND USE THE NEW UDIO UPDATES ANS ALSO USE TWO VOICES IN THE SAME MUSIC

thanx, you da man, although i typed out all his tags myself and when i saw your post i was Doh!!
so hopefully your post gets boosted to the top 🤙
You just did! Thank you 🙂
My biggest problem with udio is the moderation restrictions. Let me write mature lyrics.
What about electronic music what it is most of the time instrumental?
Just set it to instrumental generations then.
When will we be able to control the chord progression, time signature and tempo? This shouldnt be too hard for an AI to provide, given what it is capable of now.
Another thing that helps to make the chorus/verses repeat the same melodies, make sure the prompt slider is set to "manual" not "auto". Auto tends to change/add prompts on its own. Manual makes sure you have the same prompts from section to section. Also if you don't get what you want on the first try, don't be afraid to try again with the exact same prompts. Eventually you can get it to repeat the melody where you want it.
I don't think he really cared. He seemed to be OK with generations that had completely different sounds. I myself prefer consistency, but to each his own...
Can Udio do a crowd cheering after song?
can you control how long a word will be sung or if a word gets screamed?
i haven't found a reliable way to control the length of a word, but try this:
heart -> hearrrrt
for screams, try [scream] or [screaming]
I dunno Suno V3 still looks better imho, plus Suno has max 2 minutes per song plus you can also extend it. I also tried it with lyrics with different languages and its works very well.
The Suno voice just sounds too generated to me. Suno is very consistent though, I'll give it that
bpm worked for me.
Is there a way to do the same but with an Instrumental song?
Yes. You can do instrumentals with it in any style of genre. This would be far easier than creating one with vocals as there's less that can go wrong.
Great video! I didn't even mind all the commercials. I knew some of that stuff but not all of that. Instead of using [instrumental break], I figured out using [instrumentals] instead, but I plan on trying your suggestion anyway. I have tried creating a NIN song, but Udio keeps giving me a male vocalist I don't like. I even tried to make it give me a female vocalist for a NIN song, but it would never budge.
