GREAT FOOTAGE ! Love the coverage here. IF these tracks are repaired that really cinches my general theory There is NO useless trackage routes left. All remaining routes have some sort of plan, future traffic, bolstering present traffic, storage, future passenger train state funding, who knows?
Good flying through the tunnels and trees. At least the higher you go it’s getting a little better but after Ridgecrest it is going to get bad again. I don’t see how the little bit of traffic left in this line is worth rebuilding it without coal traffic. I know it’s a long way up to Roanoke and back around to North Carolina but that’s a lot of time and money to fix this.
@tomt9543 NS has no choice but to fix it. They are required by contract to keep the route viable. It's an agreement between them and the DOD. Been that way for years.
@ That didn’t help Saluda! It’s been sitting unmaintained for decades with track hanging 100’ in the air at places! That’s were the creative “Railbank” term comes in! Not abandoned, but not used or maintained. Same deal on the Greensboro/Winston-Salem/Charlotte line. Unused and unmaintained for decades from W-S towards Clemmons, but not abandoned! Abandonment and not repairing it are two totally different scenarios! NS would tell the feds they could move military equipment faster via the routes they’ve been using since 2020 when they stopped running trains between Linwood & Asheville and sent everything through Roanoke and Bristol.
Thank you for your effort. Substantial amount of erosion damage to repair and stabilize. Wonder if NS will do that work given a low usage line?!! Humbling to see the magnitude of the damage!!
Good capture and editing for a near seamless product. Could consider increasing the content value with highly selective text of narration as explanation/context.
@@bryanmarshall8124 Good job! The trail will 100% not work! The cost $$$ to build a trail on that route will be equivalent to ACTUALLY REBUILDING that route.
Once again great footage 👍
Unbelievable amount of damage on the Loops. Thanks for sharing.
glad u shared this, you did alot of work & time to do so
Yep, looks like we’ll be waiting for that Asheville-Salisbury Amtrak connection a lot longer now. Very good footage, hope everyone involved is okay.

Very nice drone work. I was expecting the damage to be much worse.
Very challenging. Lots of trees, high wind, and weak signals.
@@bryanmarshall8124 I mean to say, it's not completely ruined like the river-lever routs line were.
I agree! I was imagining the track from above Andrews Geyser to be IN the geyser! Still doubt they’ll fix it. It’s reason for being has disappeared.

From what I have seen, the Old Fort to Coleman section is in way better shape then Asheville to Marshall.

@@bryanmarshall8124 thank you
Would make a nice rails to trail greenway.
We can’t allow that!
Get out of here with that stupid shit. That will never happen.
