  • Removing the Intake Manifolds on the 1988 Ford Ranger, mostly for cleaning purposes as they are very dirty! Also had to remove the fuel rail and distributor to get the manifolds off.

    That doohicky is a rotor. To find out if the Distributor is set correct. Find TDC on Cylinder 1 and then line up the rotor with the Number 1 spark plug on the distrubutor. Best of luck RD.

      Ok thanks! I knew there had to be a way, should have marked it with a marker right away, oh well....

    I just put a new set of injectors on my Bronco II (2.9L V6)... I had to use picks as well to unplug the connectors. It was like doing surgery

    I can’t believe how hard you smashed the machines surfaces of the lower intake manifold on ur concrete 🤦‍♂️ also the one looked marred. Where’s you putting it together that’s what I’m doing lol

    You should upload videos of repairing the truck more like future repairs, the gunk is baked into those valve covers, if you think about it the temperature underneath those when the the truck has been run for a good days use, also I'm not sure if your truck has it but when you started it up it sounded exactly the way mine does the only exception is the motor is either 2 or 4 pistons smaller, when you get it all put back together check and see if your truck has a Mass Air Pressure Sensor, it should be located right underneath the air filter so much so it looks like the air filter is sitting on it, basically with my truck all the sensors went out or fell off of the truck, all at once and although the truck doesn't need over half of the stuff there, the way it was built it needs that stuff to run efficiently and as smooth as possible. Hope my input is enough to help you fix the truck

      It is a V6, too old (1988) though to have a mass airflow sensor, it does have an air charger sensor in the intake though, which was quite gunky, I do have a new to put on when I put it back together. I'm not sure there is much for "extra" sensors on my truck being this old, one nice thing about it!

      I know what you mean about that, being familiar with a 86 ford, but that trumped me about my truck I thought the sensor was a mass airflow sensor but it's actually a mass air pressure sensor two different ones I learned,

    A VERY kool thing to have done at LEAST to upper intake manifold while OUT, would be to take a dremel/grinder and smoothed out n polished the passages as best u could, make more get up n go! Also Advance timing 10 degrees or set at ""20"" Unplug the vacuum n plug on egr solenoid ( colder air=more horsepers) :) Mine runs FANTASTIC like this..

    It would have been cool to see how you got the distributor off cause that's what's a lot of people have issues with

      Removed the retaining bolt and just pulled it straight up.

      @@radozeman i think he means more along the lines of how to take the intake off with the riser as one piece to gain access to the distrubutor otherwise there is no way of getting it out.

    you should do a full engine rebuild

      I don't think it really needs, I did a compression test a year or so ago and it is right where it needs to be. Just needs a little cleanup and TLC.

    I have a ford bronco 2 1985 or 6 or 7 idk. But getting the rail back on has been a pain in my neck and I bought another one because I think the middle part of the rail trying to get it off and the second rail I ordered isn't going on there either 🙄 any help would be greatly appreciated 🙏

    They have special o rings for injectors and have to be fuel approved

    • @radozeman
      @radozeman  7 років тому +1

      Yep, I went and ordered a o-ring kit when I was finished with this video, looked at the prices of new injectors and decided that was a bad idea!

      As soon as i got to that part of the vid, I knew you would re think that lol, name ya was looking for is a cap and rotor- I hope for ya, that the timing is ok but I am thinking you may have to re set that when you get things back toghter. Thats why they wanted you to mark things BUT the timing is a very touchy issue- off even a little some times and it can run rough.

    • @radozeman
      @radozeman  7 років тому

      Yep, I'm thinking I am going to check that timing before I try to start it, the instructions didn't say anything about marking it, just said to line it up and take it off, so that is what I did.

    Then rdallen gets one and starts recording repairs and look
    There's even a playlist dedicated to repairs on the Ford 16 videos and who knows how many other repairs that arnt on video such as the ones you need to do daily before the truck will
    Even start ;)

    • @radozeman
      @radozeman  7 років тому +1
