I was following a very restrictive anti histamine diet, but I recently discovered that drinking 16 ounces of celery juice every morning, as recommended by the Medical Medium’s book, has helped to improve my histamine intolerance symptoms in just two weeks. I noticed I can now eat small amounts of chocolate, raisins and a few other foods that had triggered symptoms before. I plan to continue with the celery juice, which has also improved my overall digestion. I mentioned this because perhaps this could benefit others. I don’t eat eggs, gluten, dairy, or bad fats.

Drinking celery juice or celery decoction is an old formula used in traditional Chinese medicine for centuries . By the way it’s also good for hypertension and for edema issues.

Wow. I wonder if this celery juice could help others. I have insomnia for 7 years from histamine intolerance and oxalate, glutamate too. :( so things I eat do not affect me until evening when I try to sleep. . I am not sure if I have leaky gut or Sibo. I have very low stomach acid and have to take HCL & enzymes with every meal. Im Celiac for 30 years so I am gluten free. If I have Sibo, its silent sibo. BC I dont have any of the symptoms. But I am going to get tested because I need to find out the root cause. :( this very restricted diet is killing me. I went on the SCD diet 7 years ago for several mos to heal my gut. I healed malabsorption, brain fog, depression etc. on this diet but I had insomnia and could never heal it. (bone broth, L Glutamine, fermented foods are full of histamine!!)

You were very lucky to have your doctors listen to you, because you're a doctor. Many people keep pushing for a reason and are told to take an antidepressant. We need big change in our medical industry. It's not health care, it's disease management. I think the % of people that have this is drastically higher. A lot of people that have gluten issues really have or eventually have these issues. I have progressed to the point of having to do meat only, beef, nothing long cooked or left over. I hope one day I can reintroduce some foods, but these would also be the same foods that caused the issue so doesn't really make sense. Many people don't notice until it's very severe and healing a leaky gut takes a long time. Tolerating a food isn't the same as proper human diet as Dr. Berry would say. People want to always go back to a "normal" diet. If that normal diet causes diseases, how is that normal?

Doing a 72 hour fast (drink salt water for hydration) will actually force your body thru autophagy to eat the mast cells. For people who have MCAS doing a 72 Hr fast once a month you can go back to eating in moderation everything except what you’re genuinely allergic to. Truly a LIFE SAVER. There is only ONE research paper on this of science to prove it but the results from humans who fast and do this like myself is REAL 🎉🎉🎉🎉. More Doctors need to educate

This is excellent. I went on the carnivore diet and had drastic results, yet hit a wall. Then I learned about the importance of DAOs and the need to kill of SIFO. I started taking DAO supplements (Zypan from Standard Process, Formula 3 Amylase from NESS) and a SIFO or candida killer (Undecylenic Acid Formula SF722 from Thorne). Huge difference, and I mean HUGE! Less than 24 hours and my inflammation all over my body shrunk massively. Woke up and looked like me again…urinated a river 2 times in 30 min upon waking. It was crazy! Planning on using Ancestral supplements kidney, organs and bone & marrow supplements as a maintenance once this gets under control. Can’t stress enough how helpful thes DAOs are. SIBO nearly had me hospitalized because I literally could not eat or drink anything, not even water because the pain would get to near kidney stone level and I would vomit. Carnivore diet helped tremendously to start and then this protocol is just pushing the healing even further.

I have genetic heart disease and had quadruple bypass surgery when I was 39 so that has made figuring this out even harder. I get chest/stomach pain when stressed or doing anything physical. My blood pressure has gone as high as 233/131 during one of these episodes. I have not had/been a high blood pressure person my whole life. I recently also had an episode of exercise induced anaphylaxis. I wasn’t exercising but just doing something that required physical exertion. It was really weird but I was able to get it to stop with Benadryl. I got a referral from my cardiologist to see an allergist so hopefully this is the right path. This is making my life extremely difficult and frustrating. Thanks for the video.

I have been basically inflaming my body eating healthy! I have been trying to figure out for years my IBS triggers, anxiety, urgency, eye lids puffy, patches on my eyes area, constant watery eyes, swelling in my body after eating, boils, on and on. I have everyone of the symptoms except migraines. I was so exhausted mentally and physically going to specialist, getting so many tests, finally going to a functional doctor (that never talked about sibo, histamine intolerance!) which never helped heal me. I was just done! My life was my food and I had to move on. I decided I would just eat as healthy as I could and move on with my life. Eggs, avocado, strawberries, dark chocolate, mushrooms, canned tuna, lemon, limes, pumpkin, vinegars (daily with my salad), pineapple. After 3 years I was looking so aged, my nails, hair were dry brittle, anxiety was all the time and my IBS was worse than ever. I came across the histamine intolerance about 2 months ago and look up foods that are high in histamine and I was eating every single food because I was so limited in my food selections. I started the eliminating and the first week I could already see a difference. Thanks for the explanation, I have just been reading as much as I can and hope to find a doctor that I can go to that actual knows about histamine and mast cell in my area.

I also have a sight pain in my right lower flank when I consume certain foods and it gets worse if I eat too much. I also have, on ocasion those headaches and my blood pressure went up. I know when I have a headache that my blood pressure is high (usually it's low) and it is around menstruation time but I take a magnedium / potassium suplemento and it goes down. I'm allergic to cats and I have one and I noticed when I eat certain foods, I'm more allergic than when I don't!! Só, this ALL makes perfect sense!! I knew my asthma had something to do with the gut becsuse I would feel a "line"!going from the gut to the throat when I had asthma (vagus neve) and that this only happened after certain foods!! I work out and usually eat healthy during the week and I noticed that asthma wouldn't bother me só much but on the weekend (wine, etc..) it would! I don't eat Meat anymore but still eat fish and I've noticed a great change in heatlth!! Thanks 🙏 a BUNCH for this video!! Great confirmation for me!! ❤️ ❤️ ❤️

I know green tea is on that list, but it’s one thing (along with white tea) that has helped me. Like you said, it’s an individual thing. I had read on a NCAS blog, before I started green tea, that it’s caffeine isn’t the same type that causes histamine reactions in something like soda or chocolate. I also heard of a case where a guy got liver disease from drinking so much green tea daily (as far as I know he wasn’t having histamine problems). It’s just scary... All of this try and hit or miss is scary. Being sick all the time with no help, no real help or relief is scary.
The bigger question is…WHY ARE SO MANY OF US GETTING SICK LIKE THIS!!? What is poisoning us? !!!

corn is the culprit. It’s hidden in everything and conventional allergy testing refuses to include it you have to get MRT testing and the majority of people are corn intolerant because corn in today’s world isn’t natural like it used to be. This is amazing. The digestive issues I have had for decades! Also when a flu or cold comes through the house, I am congested for weeks longer than anyone else (and usually followed by a bronchitis or sinusitis). Also bad peripheral circulation, headaches, neuropathy that goes all over my body... I’ve been better on a Paleo diet, but I see a notable digestive issue after eating tomatoes. Yes, if your body is unable to offload that histamine. Avoiding leftover animal protein can be helpful as histamine increases in animal foods after they are cooked. Or you can freeze leftovers.

Thanks for posting.. I’ve been on a journey of learning about histamine intolerance/mast cell activation syndrome for a few months now after an extreme spike in symptoms. You are the first athlete to talk about how the physical activity impacts the ability to heal our gut. I’m a former powerlifter/lifelong lifter & I suspected it was playing a role in this.. Thank you. It will be difficult to curb old habits of pushing myself.. but I’m willing to try. Should we always try to exercise (and also sleep)on an empty stomach? Great info 🙏🏼

Definitely go to sleep with the last meal being at least 3 hours before bed. But exercising in a fasted state depends on your goals and how much you can push yourself. If you can still get a good workout in while fasted, it definitely has its benefits.

Thank you so much for this. It gave me a greater understanding of what's going on. Been dealing with this for almost 2 years. Anyone else have tinnitus as a symptom? That one is crazy for me. It went away for a month when my gut felt markedly better after doing a week of GI Doc prescribed med for IBS. That makes sense now why that may have worked as it calms things down which maybe closes some of the leaky gut broken barriers? Anyways, tinnitus started coming back a good week or so before the digestive stuff came back. It's totally correlated. This all started while on Keto and nuts were the first thing that seemed to cause episodes when it started. Now I know why. Histamine!

I don't know about curing, but a lot of people with histamine intolerance have issues with bad bacteria in their intestines. Getting a low histamine probiotic like the monk one may help. You will also want to do everything you can to gradually increase good bacteria to crowd out the bad like consuming extra virgin oil every day on an empty stomach, cooked vegetables and adding variety over time. That's my best guess.

Vitamin C: you might consider changing your VitC supplement to a food source like Camu powder. I was taking VitC supplements knowing its good for lowering overall histamine in the body but through research discovered a lot of C is from fermented corn. I stopped the supplement, and felt better by the next day. I still had histamine symptoms but they improved. I now drink Camu in water throughout the day.
Sleep: I work with my doctor, but have found that herbal supplements that affect Gaba work really well for sleep. I take Chinese Skullcap, American Skullcap, Valerian, Chamomile, and Hops in veggie cellulose capsules, and no other additives. There are others that could also help like Lemon Balm so look up a list of Gaba affecting herbs. Xanax is not a drug you want to be on for more than a few days, or in emergencies because it changes the brain.
And depending on your age you might need hormone supplementation. Get a test of your hormone levels, and they usually start with progesterone pills from a compounding pharmacy. Progesterone helps with sleep and being calm.

the ideal fasting for MCAS is a BARE MINIMUM of 48 hours (No vitamins no supplements only high quality salt and water) but ideally 72 hours. This guarantees the autophagy process of the body to literally EAT the Mast cells. When you eat a trigger food after you won’t have the mast cell memory to react to that food anymore. One 48-72 hr fast will put someone in remission from MCAS for a few months, so it’s advised to do every 1-3 months. I’m doing one monthly for safety but also just all the amazing benefits. Zero allergies, no asthma, no anxiety, no indigestion, no brain fog, no depression, no mood swings, the list goes on..... ❤

So i searched what can cause DAO deficiency, and i found DAO biosynthesis requires vitamins B6, B12, iron, copper and vitamin C.
My carnivore diet is definitely high in B6, B12, iron copper, but has always been very low on vitamin C, so i suspected this, despite no real scurvy symptoms.
i took vitamin C supplements and it reversed my condition. I do not have rash after high histamine meal like hard cheese. I'm surprised myself.

Amazing information, I've been on a roller coaster whereby I was having pile like and anal fissure symptoms and went through the UK hospital process, having endoscopies, blood tests, pills, etc, the doctors found nothing and in the end, by a process of elimination, I discovered it was porrdige that I was having every morning! I replaced that with bran flakes. I know I have poor digestion, low HCL, low enzymes, maybe low bile, etc, and have tried all sorts of supplememts and herbs but can't seem to fix it 😔

I kept expecting to hear about apple cider vinegar. But I’m guessing that is fermented.

A GIMAP for me was very helpful to find out what's going on in the gut.. I am unfortunately trying to figure out a course of action on my own as being unemployed is limiting me to natural doctors..

How to cook Bovine Kidneys as not to neutralize DAO Enzyme ? I cook it in the pressure cooker for an hour with a lot of Ginger it takes the smell & taste . Make it into a paste spread or cool it & slice thinly BUT I am not sure how much DAO survive the cooking ?? I heard DAO is not a stable enzyme.
The way I feel indicates that there must be some enough DAO left in my tasty Kidney organ meat food , sometimes I make it into Curry mix with Liver.
I can tolerate alcohol however Sulfites & Sulfates in Wine , dried fruits release tremendous amount of Histamine.
Actually Sulfites are a major Histaminic additives.
    Sorbates another Histaminic additive.
Quercetin & Serrapeptase enzyme besides great chilating effect helps to metabolize Histamine.

SIBO: small intestinal bacteria overgrowth. There is a probiotic I want to try from Custom Probiotics. It is called D lactate free and contains L Rhamnosus, L Salivarius, B Lactis, B Bifidum, B infantis, B Longum. My symptoms are feeling hypoglycemic and brain fog the next day. I did research and learned that histamines affect cytokines which affect blood sugar. I've been taking a DAO supplement but it doesn't seem to help. I take quercetin and bromelain.

Just a question who could I ask about histamine if I think I have an issue. I have had fatigue for over 12 months and if I drink wine or beer my face turns red I get itchy and headaches. Also I get a rash if exposed to cold or cold water. Not to mention I have lost all brain power. I can’t sleep with out a pill.
