I do the same thing, my dude. I remind myself that I'm truly blessed. Plus, when I can do what I want while saving some cash for heating fuel, or for paying a little extra here and there on the mortgage, then it's a double win. :)
I'm thinking of getting one of these hopefully it can go on my car or stick in back or something....just weight limit I'm worried about I'm already 210 so
Ive got one of the Lifetime Yukons which is the larger version of this kayak. Ive used it for 2 seasons now and have not had any issues with anything on it. I made a few minor changes but who doesnt do that. I would recommend sealing around the flush mount rod holders. Mine did not have a seal which let water in. I just used some marine goop.
I just picked one of these up a couple weeks ago. Had it out on the water this week. Wasn't planning on fishing, just wanted to see how it did. My neighbor bought one the same day. He caught two schnooks. Broke his in right! Saw the need to have an anchor as we hadn't messed with that yet. Drifted off a little more than we liked. I found an old window sash I'm going to try that for an anchor. Maybe one off both sides of the boat. Trolley systems look pretty good. What would you recommend for attaching the guides to the hull? My first kayak and I can tell I will like it a lot. Have to figure out how to get in and out without going for a swim! Old knees don't work too well anymore. Great video
Had the kayaks again. I put a lifejacket under the seat. I could still feel the frame bar in the lower back. I split a piece of pool noodle and wrapped that around the bar and secured it with zip ties. Have to wait till next time out to see if it does the trick. This is a great way to fish areas that would most likely otherwise be inaccessible. I used the two anchors, one off each side. They worked well, but I still see the advantage of an anchor trolley, not to mention being able to lose some of the weight by not having the two anchors. It's a fun learning experience
I'm following several UA-cam videos regarding this kayak. I really appreciate all of the reviews. I can't and don't want to spend a lot of money on one until I know how committed I'll be. Mainly want to learn how to use one and fish some...cane pole, 😉. Thank you for your review. I've been wondering what to do with the fish if they're keepers.
Just bought one and each time after taking it out I've noticed a cup amount of water inside the kayak after removing the compartment bucket and looking in. Is that normal?
Do you only anchor to the grab handle on the side? +1 for getting something in your price range to get out on the water. Since getting my yaks I can’t imagine fishing without them now. Also, if your 5 YO is your oldest, I’ve got a 11month girl as my oldest. Hope to fish with her in the future as well.
If you mean how I use my anchor, I had it tethered to a center strut inside the kayak. I getting a trolly line for it next season tho. I need to make a new video, lol. I have a trolly system to put on it, I put go pro mounts on it, and have upgraded the anchor itself.
@@FrozenFinFan yeah I meant for when you’re on the water haha. I don’t have an anchor trolley yet, so I’m planning on just anchoring to my grab handles on the side when I fish later this week. Better than nothin lol. Whenever you film that next video, I’ll watch it 👍🏽
Please tell me you haven't been using that paddle that came with it?...... That thing sucks ass lol upgrade that paddle please!! n the kayak will be so much better!! :)
Nice review and helpful tips to boot. I just got mine last week and I'll take a few of your tips and incorporate them in mine. The 2x4 under the seat, the towel hooked with a biner, and the minimal tackle boxes you take. Can't wait to see what else you do with it. Did you say that the wrench is you anchor? How's that working? Thanks 😊
Lol well that was temporary. I'll make a video soon to show a couple updates that may be helpful to people. The wrench did do the trick, tho. I just wanted something a tad heavier and with a hook end.
Eventually I was gonna put a protector wrap on the bottom, but I carry my yak from the vehicle to the water. I'm never gonna drag it, and the bottom is still in great shape. I've been saving tons of footage this summer to put some shenanigans up, but am waiting for my editing software. Figured it'd be nice to actually make a few edited videos, instead of raw cell phone videos 🤣
@@FrozenFinFan nice! I just got mine a few weeks ago, and have been carrying it, but an still seeing scratches from random rocks in shallow areas. Can't wait to see the footage! Do you mainly go after trout and greyling, or have you found some good Pike or salmon places?
@@redamaleki I like trout and grayling when I'm with my kiddos. Easier for them to get involved. But I'll fish for whatever is in the water. In my neck of the woods, that's various trout species, grayling, various salmon species, pike, whitefish, and the occasional varden.
@@FrozenFinFan DUDE ! I have a corolla and thinking about getting one of these. I was telling my wife I'll just put the seats down and ram the kayak in it. So, if this is possible please show us a picture. Thanks, man, and Great video!
Thanks for the video, I just got mine today. The two by four just sits in the slot where the seat goes, and the back of the seat just sits on top? It doesnt move?
@@jaycevessier7554 I've been out several times with it just sitting in the slot and no worries. I feel like though it's not needed when I'm just paddling around, but i think it would be good if I was fishing. Which I haven't done yet.
Thats kinda Meh. You CAN stand and fish, although you need good balance to do so. Its definitely not easy for me, being 6'2" and 260 pounds. Thats why I'm making some outriggers. Once the outriggers are on, it'll be a much easier feat.
thank you for reminding me about family and mortgage. sometimes I lose myself watching reviews about really expensive kayaks. good review!

check out the garmin striker series fish finders i have a striker 4 on my kayak and love it compact and easy to learn and see even in bright sun
Nice review! Where do you put your four kids?
They all paddle their own!!!
Great video and very informative. Totally love your stickers too !
Nice review bud!! Thanks! Nice gear!
vary helpful thank you!
Attach a velcro strap to the 2x4 to put over the seat pipe to hold it but, easy removal.
You have answered every question I had about this kayak thank you! I was going to spend $750 on a different kayak but thanks to you I’m not now lol

Wierd. Mine has little gaskets.
Goop, the best glue around!
Thank you ! Great review. Just don't throw away crappy paddle, keep it on the side of the kayak for an emergency.
When I bought my new paddle, it came with an extra shorter emergency paddle. No need to keep the old original one for me. I threw it out.
Great tips!! Hook it up with some kayaking trips Mr. Squatch!!
Velcro work great on my tackle cases in my sit in Lifetime
get you one of those big sponges to keep water out you will use a lot less towels
Thats a great idea thanks!
Yeah, the ones you get at Walmart in automotive.

Just make sure that you use water sealant around the holes you drill if you get a anchor trolley !

Get a stringer and keep them in the water nice and fresh. I think they're like 5 bucks at most fishing stores, or even Walmart
Just bought one and each time after taking it out I've noticed a cup amount of water inside the kayak after removing the compartment bucket and looking in. Is that normal?
Yeah you gotta seal every screw on the kayak with sealant.
@@FrozenFinFan thank you so much! I was stressing hard wondering if I wasted my money. I really appreciate it!
No problem. It's totally normal. Moisture will accumulate down there until you seal your yak completely.

Tarp clips available cheap at Harbor Freight, or Walmart are good for putting the biner on, and hold the towel without making a hole in it.
Have you done anything to the bottom to protect it? You going to post any fishing adventures?
