Here are some simple woodworking tips using a trimmer, without having to buy a professional woodworking machine.

This is easily one of the best shop built router accessories I’ve seen in quite some time. I’m now in the process of building a new fence for my router table to take advantage of this idea. Thank you. Great work!
"Tree trimmer"? *_Wrong title._* Should be DIY jointer. An excellent idea, well executed. I'll make one.
I believe they’re Korean so there’s a crossover language barrier.
@@millroyboy07 Thanks. That explains it. It's a brilliant device, though - and could be adapted for a curcular saw table too.
Perfect hack for those of us who work with small parts and don’t have a jointer.
Never *NEVER* pass a workpiece between the fence & the router bit, as OP does at 4:05.
If it catches or jams you will have a high speed projectile, & probably find yourself making a blood sacrifice to the router gods.
if you do it in the direction that the author does, there will most likely be no kickback.
But if you do it in the opposite direction, it will almost certainly happen. In addition, can ruin the cutter or the router itself.
Brilliant, great idea for those that dont have a jointer! so easy
Great concept
I have the same question. It seems hard on the cutter and the TRIM router (as opposed to a heavy-duty router, which is built to take that kind of a beating)
just for the video. youtube money!
Essentially that is what jointers do.
Great job , what the brand of router bits you have used in the project
Brilliant. The missing fingertip really sells it.
@@theastuteangler and it looks like he hasn't learned his lesson!!
Wouldnt a table saw do some of those straight cuts too?
Yes, and more efficiently, but if you only have a router, you can build a router table and make the jigs shown and do all the things shown in the video.
You build the whole table and jigs with a router?
@@Spagyr Obviously, it would not be ideal, but you COULD get away without having a table saw or a jointer.
AWESOME Thankyou ! This is the best most informative helpful vid ive came across I was aware of this just did see a convenient way to reliable get their with this reliability and ease of use VERY GOOD VIDEO am going to build mine right now !
WOW! Great Idea, Great Video!
Really nice.
Shim the router table outfeed fence budabing budabang jointer. My 2 decades router table came with instructions for this.
Unknown? It's called a jointer. Still, a nice, small-scale implementation.
Why don’t you cut the live edge on the table saw; no jig required?
I guess it was just for demonstration of effectiveness
Super! Was eine idee!
Realy smart 👌
WOW!!! This is an awesome jig!!!!
Excellent 👌
What exactly does this have to do with tree trimming?
Simple ,safe and effective !
What an annoying way to plane a board. Loud and violent. Give me a hand plane and I’ll get the job done in record time and retain my sanity.
Hear! Hear! I love human-powered tools!! There aren’t many of us around - we have stick together!
For larger boards, I just use a straight edge placed back from edge far enough to allow 1/16" ish material removal with hand held router and straight bit with 1"cutting surface
No trees were harmed in this video.
Perfect ideas! Thanks for sharing. I am rather a beginner in woodworking and these ideas are very useful for me. Greetings from Ukraine!
There are much safer and faster ways with less waste if you use a table saw for the cuts he made, with the exception of the stop cuts. Not a very safe way to cut or trim stock. This video comes from a country that has less than stellar safety rules...
a simple and very well-known skill for kinda replacing a jointer. you are following the many woodworkers before you who have used this. they are not following you.
This is common knowledge for any woodworker who can't afford a jointer. Nothing groundbreaking here. However you did make the adjustments more difficult than it needed to be.
Good video, good idea to use on the router table, the title tree trimmer is not correct, a tree is the origin of wood but still standing in the ground, once cut it is a log, then when planked it becomes boards.
Why are we seeing a router being used instead of a table saw?
Doesn't have a table saw,too dangerous!!
Can you make a chute out of wood to use to expand the table?
nice 🤠 ( Florida, USA )
2:13 *Instead of moving a piece with the blade spinning, and risking damage, TURN IT OFF. Then remove the pice.* _Don't be lazy!_
I would call a router a piece of professional wood working equipment 😂
Please: Use tools to save your fingers!!! 😮
If your fingers dont slip then there is no issue.
Apparently tree did not need to be trimmed
My Jessem router table has this feature. But i just use my jointer or hand plane
Now you just need to make the cheeks sacrificial so you can push them into the molder for zero clearance when cutting the Ogee profile
Bien hecho 👍
I’m surprised this worked at all. You don’t line up the cutter edge with the ruler, you line up the bearing.
Nice idea. but this is not a tree trimmer.
My gardening brain was disappointed. My woodworking brain was not.
*Like Mama said, **_USE YOUR WORDS!_*
You know they make jointers that do that
And a jointer doesn't need to be be dialed on every day time. I don't have a jointer "yet" so I do this with my router only easier by spacing the out feed side with a couple of plastic dowel rods. However the fence needs to be dialed in just right. Too far out and the wood hits the side of the out feed fence or too far back and the edge isn't straight.
Just get a handheld planer and mount it sideways.
👍👍👍👍👍
Mantab
Marvelous! What sort of router is that? It seems mighty powerful for an edge trim router.
Looks like a Dewalt.
It won’t last long under that stress
@@ImOnAJourney It does seem like a lot of work for a battery-powered trim router.
@@obyvatel
Yep. It’s designed to do trim work, which is why it’s called a trim router. I have a Bosch Colt, and I use it to trim edge band, to edge route the circumference of a dog hole, etc. They aren’t made for much more than that.
Wonderful!
Well, it won't be followed by me. 😕
WOW! 😲

So, where's the tree?
Uhhh... you're using a bit with a *bearing guide,* ffs, essentially, to replace a jointer. Just stick a ruler or straight piece of wood on top of your wood, then raise the router bit to run the bearing along that. No need to make a set of variable adjustments to the fence itself like an actual jointer does to its twin platforms. Hell, you could even rig a fixed or _adjustable_ jig to do this job for most cases, using threaded bolts and some wood that lays on top of the workpiece. MUCH easier than changing out fence parts.
Also, running a router bit that close to your fingers (ca. 2:10) is absolutely f^^^tarded. Sure, you get away with it 99.99% of the time. That one in 10,000x it goes wrong is going to really ruin your day.
Not watching any more. 😕 It's your hands, your router, but you aren't even thinking about basic safety in any regards, clearly.
50+ lesser comments before I found someone making this point.
So you are building a router version of a jointer. Not a new idea at all. And what, exactly, does this have to do with trimming trees???
I think the play on words, tree trimming as in boards are/were trees, and now you are trimming/cutting them.
Or maybe a translation quirk. And the sliding adjustment may not be entirely new, but isn't that common.

They tried to get more views by using the phrase “tree trimmer”. This is a deceptive channel that will try and con the viewer every step of the way
Uhh take a break dude. Just bc you know about it doesn’t mean everybody does. So what if it’s about getting clicks, probably more a play on words, the point of putting in all the editing work is to get clicks
What don’t you understand about a comment section?
A pro? Hmmmm a pro woukd have explained how to account for run out when joining boards and he wouldnt be overloading his router either
Tree trimmer ... I guess it is. 😂
it took me a minute to figure out what he meant, then I remembered that Korean uses the same word for 'tree' and 'wood'
I didn't see any trees.

Where are the trees?
