    This is easily one of the best shop built router accessories I’ve seen in quite some time. I’m now in the process of building a new fence for my router table to take advantage of this idea. Thank you. Great work!

    Never *NEVER* pass a workpiece between the fence & the router bit, as OP does at 4:05.
    If it catches or jams you will have a high speed projectile, & probably find yourself making a blood sacrifice to the router gods.

      if you do it in the direction that the author does, there will most likely be no kickback.
      But if you do it in the opposite direction, it will almost certainly happen. In addition, can ruin the cutter or the router itself.

      And a jointer doesn't need to be be dialed on every day time. I don't have a jointer "yet" so I do this with my router only easier by spacing the out feed side with a couple of plastic dowel rods. However the fence needs to be dialed in just right. Too far out and the wood hits the side of the out feed fence or too far back and the edge isn't straight.

    So, where's the tree?

  • @nickbrutanna9973
    @nickbrutanna9973 3 місяці тому +2

    Uhhh... you're using a bit with a *bearing guide,* ffs, essentially, to replace a jointer. Just stick a ruler or straight piece of wood on top of your wood, then raise the router bit to run the bearing along that. No need to make a set of variable adjustments to the fence itself like an actual jointer does to its twin platforms. Hell, you could even rig a fixed or _adjustable_ jig to do this job for most cases, using threaded bolts and some wood that lays on top of the workpiece. MUCH easier than changing out fence parts.
    Also, running a router bit that close to your fingers (ca. 2:10) is absolutely f^^^tarded. Sure, you get away with it 99.99% of the time. That one in 10,000x it goes wrong is going to really ruin your day.
    Not watching any more. 😕 It's your hands, your router, but you aren't even thinking about basic safety in any regards, clearly.
