I don't get excited about .22s like that.
Don't get me wrong, they're super fun when you're shooting them, but I don't lose sleep waiting for the release of a new .22.
When I finally got the gun in my hands, I immediately turned into Ralphie from a Christmas story when he finally got his bb gun:
The 502 Tactical is pure overkill for a .22, and I love it.

I’m legit Happy and Angry right now. Where were all these cool guns when I was younger with less bills?
I guess it is time to start a new penny jar.
The ruger mark 1 came out in 1949 and imo is a better 22lr pistol. Mark 2, 3 and 4 improved on that design.
@@zillbot oh absolutely. I really want a Ruger Mark 4. There will always be a place in the safe for a Ruger. But I also want something like this 502
@@zillbot Plus I’m an FN fanboy 😁
I have a tx-22. Love it 🤷♂️
I was born with one hand, and faced so much adversity growing up. I thought I wasn’t gonna be able to take care of myself as a man and my family. I was denied my childhood dream of going to the military. Watching you has motivated me to get into the 2nd amendment and I recently shot my Glock 23 .40cal and got bulls eye with my one hand handicap. You showing us it’s possible through your channel continues to inspire and motivate me to be the best version of myself and to stay focused on my purpose. I hope to shoot with you one day with my one hand disability to show others there’s no excuses despite what you’re born with. Much Respect Colion and thank you for being that inspiration! Much Respect ✊🏾
Keep pushing my guy
Congrats brother... thanks for the inspiration as well!
Thanks for your story!
💪💪
Hey man to start beautiful story! Keep on keeping on! But I'm a glock fan and they have a back slide plate attachment that makes it a mini charging handle and there is a type of device I forget the name but to draw the weapon you first push down to charge the weapon then you draw ready to go. There's also the roni conversion kit that might could be of benefit but anyway just wanted to try and help out if possible.
The FN 502 .22 is now considered a gateway gun.
*snorts a line of gunpowder* ITS WHAT ?!?! love me some 22 pew pew.
I first bought and tried a 502 when i was just 14..
Im now 15, divorced, wife took the kids, homeless, broke while drowning in $50 of debt from buying hundreds of .22 to just get my fix.
Learn from my experience people, dont end up like me. Use the credit card for the gun. Not the ammo
So is the Taurus tx 22 😆
@@johndough111 fml lmfao ... hang in there buddy ... you aint alone
Haha just like a .22 Can is the gateway drug to Suppressors!!
I prefer my heritage rough rider in 22 magnum with an oil lantern soldered to the barrel for an authentic 1890s tactical feel
I got one too, may have to look into the oil lantern lol
@@derrongee lmao. Tacticool cowboy style!!
@@constableodo9738 hell yea man!
I have one too but I don't have the magnum cylinder yet.
I will skip the lantern in favor of an extra cylinder for faster reload...
I won't lie, that is sexy and now considering getting one. Taking new shooters to the range with this may make more people gun people.
Smart man. If we want people to like guns, that first experience goes a long way. Giving someone a 45acp or even certain 9mm can be uncomfortable to someone that is new, doesn’t have proper grip, etc and turn them off.
Especially with the can. My current pistol host is a Buckmark because they're awesome albeit a little heavy. This looks pcool
The 1st firearm I ever shot was a .50 cal muzzle loader. I was 8 years old the rifle was bigger than me. I was hooked from that moment on but I definitely don’t advise people starting off that way.
@@bradfreed1942 Absolutely! I took my gf a few years back to the range and she never shot anything before. She tried a friends Glock 26, put it down, went to the bathroom and cried. She was having an anxiety attack. She came back though and tried my Beretta 92. She loved it and on the drive home she asked "When are we going back" Now, she loves going.
Thanks for the review. I’m glad FN is making a serious pistol for the 22lr. Everyone else treats it like a substandard training tool. The round has legitimate use and deserves a proper platform.
It's not made by FN. It's made by Umarex.
This is my reason to not get one. G44 is actually made by glock
I would have laughed at the thought of owning a Taurus TX22 before I shot one. 22lr is an inexpensive way to get your reps in (and tons of fun). This sounds like a lot of fun, but for the dollar you can’t beat that TX22.
which is why i wouldnt get a G44 lol@@icolater27
Working in the oilfields in Texas I met a cowboy who killed everything with a .22 rifle including quail, coyote, wildcat, boar, javalina, deer, cows... He said "it's a head shot or it's nothing".
He ain't lying either
How do you get a 22lr through the thick skull of a wild boar? Sounds suspect.
@@Falconryder Eyes maybe?
@@Falconryder he said shooting at them through the ear, he said the same with cows apparently it's very soft in that area
@@Falconryder .22 stinger maybe.
Honestly I'm rather impressed. Not one single failure to feed while doing a mag dump.
Still..Grand Power for life :D .22 doesnt matter too much anyway, its a fun little thing to save money on the ammo..mostly
@@MisoElEven 22 is 1 of the most versatile cartridges Is out there. What the hell are you talking about
@@MisoElEven You can hunt with it you can protect yourself with it it's cheap and you can carry a shit ton of it Without noticing. You smell of gun counter talk

Colion Noir: I don't get excited about 22 handguns... unless they're paying me.
That’s even better. To get paid to shoot guns. Oorah!
It's an FN, I'm sure it's a beast
@@edmonster01 there is a difference between:

Getting paid to be a shill.
@@reformedgarbage5415 like Tim Kennedy lol
FN502 Tactical vs Ruger Mark IV Lite? I seen you get excited about both, so I was curious about your opinion. I'm looking to get one of these soon
I've got the TX22. I've found that reliability is almost an issue only with ammo. Yeah, if you never want to clean your gun, it will eventually fail. It is a .22LR after all. That being said, I took my pistol to the range on 4 separate occasions, shot ~500 rounds per visit, and all I did was add lube to the appropriate areas. No cleaning, and no jamming. Then I ran out of the good Winchester ammo, changed to the budget winchester, and had problems.
Feed them what they deserve. Give your .22's good ammo.
.22lr is an underrated round.
How so?
@@MrBabyStokes Compact, can have a lot of bullets for VERY cheap, criminals not wearing body armor (99% won't) will still feel the pinch and can easily be peppered, it won't go through walls or hardened surfaces, there's virtually zero recoil, it's the only cartridge that can actually be made Hollywood whisper quiet, and you can make okay homemade or even plastic firearms that don't have to be steel tubes that need to withstand over 30k+ PSI. There's a reason why BBs can't be driven into concrete by air pressure, but a .22lr blank from a nail gun can easily drive them into concrete. You just have to know the limitations.
@@MrBabyStokes Its fun to shoot and I just got 1,600 rounds for $170, and that wasn't even a great deal. You can get it for 5cpr if you look long enough.
@@JimmyCougar you made me rethink everything I know about the 22lr and now I got a whole new respect for them… I’m still new to guns so thanks for the knowledge man I appreciate
tbh a Ruger 10/22 is not a terrible home defense choice imo
im not trying to be the "its just as good" guy...but tx22 and the tx 22 comp i feel like might be a good alternative
Correct
Yep. 16 rounds and $260. I'm sure it's not as well built as the 502 but mine's not bad at all.
@@crocholiday yeah i had one before all off my guns got lost the day on the lake but when you look at the fact that you get a reliable 16 round gun that can get a red dot for comes with a threaded barrel has a good trigger it seems like a decent choice for people training with glocks
Tx22 rocks with cheap bulk ammo. Glock promised a lot but Taurus delivered. Walther..... Failed but the Taurus delivers. The Ruger Sr22 is good but I had a bulk pack of under powered golden bullet that the sr22 choked on and my TX 22 gobble up with ease. Never tried the Smith Victory or MNP22s. If I gotta hit the road and stay light the Tx22 is coming with me.....,but I am open to try the 502 if it can run cheap dirty bulk pack reliably it'll be a winner.
Came to the comments looking for this. Love my tx
My son really needs this ASAP. And my wife and maybe me too.
@wnc817 the money you spend on that Taurus you might as well opt for the cooler one instead IMS
Not to be a "just as good" guy.... I thought the same sort of things when I first shot my tx22 lol. Also a solid .22 pistol with a 15 round capacity
Got one on the way. Hard to beat for $270 right now.
Awesome! Enjoy it! That is a solid price
@@baitball4665 Where did you find it at for that price?
Love the TX22.
The Tx22 and sr22 kill the 502 already. It is made by Umarex not FN. Umarex 22 pistols suck IDK about their 22 rifles.
Love the comments on here from people who think the .22 isn't strong enough or might give you an "infection". And yet not one of these folks would ever volunteer to get shot by one huh!?! For many, 15 rounds of .22 with almost no recoil means good hits on target. A few .22's to the face will ruin someone's day. And these same individuals probably all proudly display their .45's and .44 Magnum's...that they couldn't hit the broad side of the barn when they were in it. Not hitting at what you are aiming at with a big bore vs putting ten to fifteen small caliber holes in the sweet spot!?! Hmmmm... Good try tough guys. LOL!!
Nice bait bro, catch anything with it lately?
I don't carry a 22 for self protection in public places, but I can tell you as a farmer/country bumpkin the 22lr is WAY underrated and needlessly pissed on. In the right hands it is extremely capable. When I am on my land, I usually keep a measly tx22 on my belt (and an rifle on my shoulder or somewhat nearby) Should I not be able to reach my rifle in a moment of crisis, I feel confident that I could do what I needed to do with the 22. I've seen 22's do things that a "puny" cartridge shouldn't be able to do. Plus they are extremely easy to put rounds not just on target, but exactly where you need then to go and quickly. They can absolutely make someone have a very very bad day. Most "tactical"? No... unless you put a can on it.. then it can even do things that other guns can't do.
PMR-30 owners when they hear "15 rounds":
"Look at what they need to mimic a fraction of our power."
💯
CP 33 owners be like "I got 3 more than you do"
Got me a cp33 with 50 round extended mags
True, but that thing will break if you give it a dirty look. An FN you could probably beat someone to death with and it would still function just fine.
Between this review and Sage Dynamics review a few days ago, this looks like a solid buy. Will I be giving up the TX22 for it, probably not, but I’ll be keeping my eye on it for sure. Thanks again for your time on this review. Keep on keepin on.
I also have a TX22 and cannot imagine anything that would make me give it up.
I agree the TX 22 is the best for the money honestly can’t see anything beating it in the future at least at that price point!
I'm surprised by these comments on how good the TX22 is I may have to try one, but not sure if a Taurus is near the quality of FN..
@@andyb9994 I have no doubt the 502 is going to be great but Taurus hit it out of the park with the TX22. I know they make budget pistols and have some quality control (and customer service) issues but this is the only Taurus I’ve kept through the years and it has never let me down. Worth looking into while you wait to see if the 502 has any “glitches”.

Isn't that the same Tim Kennedy that said He doesn't think a legal adult should be able to buy an AR-15?
Yes.
That said when I finally got the money I mean the gun into my hands…
I love how Colion edited the video at 1:40, to hide the fact that Tim walked in front of the muzzle! Ooops! 😳
And that's why trigger discipline is important...
I haven't shot one so I can't say, and I do know FN makes underrated handguns, but honestly my tx22 is really really nice
FN makes the best military firearms. They make the best cold forged barrels, period. They are very, very underrated!
I’ve heard great things about the TX22!
@@williamfrazier3822 What makes their cold forged barrels the best?
@@hardcore4476 I spent months researching barrels, bolt carriers, etc. before purchasing an AR. Besides the long military use of their machine guns, they rank among the best in the civilian market, too. I was originally going to by only the barrel but very happy I bought the whole thing.
Ya I have the tx22 on my list as well. Hopefully it’ll run like the rugers do.
I wasn't interested in this thing, then they offered to pay me, then I thought it was fantastic. So fantastic I called a handgun "chocolatey" because I had to not appear disingenuous at the time, they hadn't paid me yet, I swung and missed, it was awkward.
Dang it!!! I'm trying to not be in debt, Colion! Between your reaction, Tim's giddiness, and the fact that FN has clearly hit another one out of the park, now I feel like I'm going to miss out if I don't get one. Thanks a lot, Guys!!!
LMAO it's German apparently. Look at those proof marks.
Great review! Looks like I'm going shopping soon. Keep up the great work and keep Texas 2A strong!
The irony of an American being able to buy a Belgian weapon without any fuss while us Belgians have to jump through hoops to get a chance to own a firearm and even when we jump perfectly we can still be declined a license... 😔
Going to be hard to top my TX-22 Competition honestly. I've had it 5 days now and can't quit shooting it! With and without a suppressor, I've put 1500 rounds through it already!

I hope this gun puts some pep into the rimfire market. I’d love to see a p320 in 22lr, that would be an absolute perfect trainer, especially for those going for certain kits.

The P322 just released apparently
@@chaliween ya I saw! It’ll probably sell like hot cakes but unfortunately it’s not a p320. I won’t be getting it.
As a nurse of 35 years you've seen Bill share gunshots plus being a hunter who's taken down game of all sizes up to deer with a 22 rimfire I can promise you that way too many people underestimate this small round and it's ability to take down prey.
I really hope it was a 22 magnum and even that isn't ethical in my opinion. If I was hungry I'd use whatever I had but in a world with such easy access to more effective calibers, I find it really hard to justify using anything with less than 500 lbs of energy on a deer. The weakest thing I've used myself is .223 and some people would say even that is unethical. I know a .22lr is capable of taking large game but the margin of error is to small for me.
I agree with you tom c. Alot of people underestimate this round. It has velocity, and range . Colin noir learn something about a small round.

Escape while you can
Fn has been known for making beauties.
Like all weapons-some are hot, some are not.
All I know is I carried an Fn for a year and prefer them if I ever had to defend myself or others.
But this looks like a fun ccw or edc for those in free states.
Grand Power K22 X Trim is a beautiful .22 pistol.. honestly I wouldnt edc a .22 pistol though, the rate of failure to incapacitate is a bit too high considering most self defense scenarios happen at a close distance or even face2face. Anything above it should be fine but .22 is better than nothing I guess.
@@MisoElEven A .22 lr can be very deadly if you get a headshot on whatever is trying to kill you. But I agree though, I wouldn't carry one either. I'd have one just for fun or for competition.
Made by Umarex. Junk if you ask me. Get the Taurus TX22 if anyone is reading this. Never been a big fan of Taurus over the years but it was only because they don't have the most attractive looking guns. But as I get older.. you see things in a different light. They aren't greedy like Sig and they be making solid guns for us hard working Americans. I don't even own a Taurus either. I love my p365 from Sig and my west German p series sigs but the mags are just so spendy. Don't even get me started with HK mags. Cheezus
I would really like to own a suppressor, but having to pay extra taxes for it AND have it be registered... makes the idea distasteful.

Maybe the one I got was a lemon but I had failures every 2-3 rounds with CCI Mini Mags.
I might have to consider this little 22.
That said, until then, I'll stick with my Smith and Wesson M&P 22 compact. Shots just about any 22lr ammo I put through it!
With the exception of subsonics. (Smile)
the only problem i have with it is that the hole for the loaded chamber indicator spits gunk all over the front of the optic
Tx-22 does most of that without needing the extended mag. Guess it depends on what type of trigger you want to train with. The tx-22 is striker fired and this looks like a great option for those that like the single/double exposed hammer design. Real question you never answered is how does it run on various ammo and cheap bulk pack stuff? Or does it need expensive CCI to operate reliably?
I have to agree about the TX22. I was shooting with a friend fall of 2022 and he broke out the TX22. I fired a couple of magazines, finished up our range trip then drove straight to Academy and bought one.

Double stack rimfire magazines are not really a thing...not reliable. 5.7 is a center-fire without a rim that is wider than the body of the cartridge

Ruger Mark III with a Pac-lit upper and suppressor!
Hard to beat the price and accuracy of a Ruger MK pistol.
I was excited about the 502 before realizing that it's just another white labeled gun by Umarex. Hard to justify the price, even with the suppressor height sights and threaded barrel. Say what you will about the Glock 44, but at least they brought some innovation to the 22 world by building theirs from the ground up.
Bought this gun yesterday and took it to the range today, it eats all five different types 22s(Winchester M-22(200 rnds), Winchester 525(200 rnds), Federal automatch(325 rnds), standard velocity(100 rnds), and minimag(200 rnds)). I did a lot of magdump/rapid fire to see the reliability, and it eats them all. There were two duds which is not the gun's fault. The slide, especially the barrel is robust and the gun's ergonomics is fantastic, felt nice on the hand.
My only issue is the iron sights, it has no whitedots/markings on them, just blank. I think FN designed this gun to make people buy optics because that's where this gun shines even more. Also, the magazine felt somewhat cheap(outer layer is plastic, however the inner layer that's holding the cartridge is metal, at least). And the recoil spring, it felt weak, not stiff enough(I don't know if this is normal in any 22 pistols).
My only regret is that I bought the black color because local gunshops don't have it in FDE color. I really wanted the FDE.
All-in-all, the gun is worth the money.
Colion should stick to fighting the good fight out on the front line. Whenever he goes into salesman persona, I get the willies or rather, creeped out. He sounds like a used car salesman selling his granny a lemon on some sleek high fashion runway where the upper-end clientele are all pleasuring themselves with butt-plugs.
Um..........that's oddly specific
All great points but one floor when you have all that tac is that it could be snaggy...under a top. But hey I like 22 this does offer a lot more, but I still would want a kel tec PMR30
Or a keltec p16
I love everything about this pistol, but I feel like it’s gonna need some tried and true testing before I get one. Nobody has them in stock and they are going for $300 over MSRP on GB. Worried about reliability over the long term, but looks badass!

I prefer the Taurus TX22
Sorry man my TX22 is still my favorite 16 rounds with a threaded barrel at $300. Have you shot one ? just curious
Looks like a great plinker. How would you compare it to the beretta M9 22 suppresor version?
How do you do a video with a anti-gunner like Tim Kennedy
I am a newer gun owner and have an S&W M&P 22 compact. I love it and it has been great for frequent training. But this one...wow...just wow. 😍
I get it.I feel the same way About my P17 from kel te . I bought mine used. With16 rounds in mag plus 1 in the chamber. It came with three mags a threaded barrel adapter with tools mass of last week for $210. I got an additional slide with a crimson trace optic.
I got this pistol last Friday and it’s a BOSS!!! Not to mention it comes with 3 optic plates with rear sight still attached to each one for each dot application that coincides with it. I absolutely ran my suppressor on it and it’s a gem. Best firearm purchase of my year, thus far!!
I’m wondering if it’s 100% reliable even on cheaper ammo. Seen videos where people’s rifle will hit the rim hard or soft and it won’t go off. Either way it’s probably good subsonic ammo.
@@awsomedude9111 I took 5 different kinds of ammo with. The only complaint I had was the CCI stinger. And not because it didn’t run, but because of the blowback with the suppressor on. The fps on them are 1640. I went back down to everything else between 1000-1100 FPS and it was much better. The subs I do run are the aguila 40 grain. They are 1025 fps.
Two years in, how's it doing? Do you still recommend?
The data doesn't lie folks. Almost the exact same penetration into gelatin blocks as a 9mm or .45. And at 1,000 yards out, the .22 round went through 1/2 plywood just like a 9mm. This round is very deadly esp w/ CCI Stinger rounds. To me it's a no brained. Zero recoil, high capacity, deadly and highly effective at neutralizing or killing a threat altogether.
Really handsome gun. What does it take to neutralize the threaded barrel to make it NY compliant???
You really took the air our of my sails. I don't like it in NY, and just can't wait to get back to SC.
@@willardpritchard5186 It's the same with the Beretta Tomcat Covert, would have to neutralize the threaded barrel on that firearm I would like to have, but can't. One day, things may get straightened out.
The only .22L pistol that I have is a H&R Inc. Sidekick Model 929 revolver.
the lie is... the keltec cmr 30 with the 50 round extended mag is way funner to shoot and modify.
Ew keltec
Taurus TX-22 it is much better.
Grand Power K22 X Trim?
Would like to see how the reliability fairs once you throw a red dot on it. May end up forcing you up to 40grain at the very least with the added weight. I know my G44 didn't stay reliable once I tried to do the same. That 1-2oz can really play a factor with this caliber.
Same here. I have a m&p 22 compact. Replaced the rear sight with the lightest optic mount on the market, and the lightest optic I could find that fits on the DeltaPoint mount which was the Viper Optics micro. Went from the most reliable 22 that would literally eat anything to a 22 that would only fire rounds above 1450 fps and that was after removing one of the two recoil springs. So I would LOVE to see how reliable this thing is with a Holosun on there.
Another reason why the Taurus TX22 Competition is superior, the optic sits atop the barrel, doesn’t move with the slide.
@@Florida_Man_Robb Only thing they missed out on that was ambi slide stop/release. Otherwise yeah it's definitely ideal.
Umarex knocks it out of the park again!
love the Ralphie referance.
Love the channel but a "TACTICAL 22"
Isn't that an Oxymoron
yep 😂
This, tx22, beretta 92 22lr, and ruger sr22 seem like the ceiling of reliable 22 arms
1:08 "Chocolately"? What? Chocolate?
Dude stop doing that thing where your voice gets high pitched and you sperg out. You do this so often for so many firearms, that you're really not saying anything.
It's an FN! Expect the best!
Feed it pure Mexican Aguila Super maximum Hyper Velocity .22 LR 30-gr and you will eliminate any misfires and gain much much more power than compared to any U.S. manufactured competition. In addition there will be no fowling or any of that nonsense that the ignorant haters would like you to believe .
