I literally drank 666 gallons of WAP juice during this pod muhahaha
I love how greatly Scott depicts his views and thoughts while still TOTALLY in character of the shredmaster. He's like a Hulk Hogan/Chuck Norris or sorts lol. You guys have great takes, I spent the whole afternoon listening to most of this while doing other shit and every few minutes I was like "preach".
So far the guests you've been having on are amazing, I don't think I've really heard Shred have an honest conversation like this.
also a 3 hour long episode is insane, ty BTK!
Plissken
It's weird seeing him not "in character"
lol and it seems like he's still in character in this video
@@timgonzales2891 He is actually not *that* different from the character, which makes me like him even more.
Good job mike. If I had a any criticism it would be that you seem to interrupt sometimes and the guest seems to get a little annoyed . It’s subtle but something to look out for
Make mental notes, or physically write down notes if that is too difficult, but let them finish their thought.
That's putting it nicely. I had to force myself to watch . The interruptions were terrible.
@@bheinlen agreed
Words cannot express how much I enjoyed this conversation
Still remember that track you sent me
@@BecomeTheKnight That's amazing that it's stuck with you through the years. Honestly I'm thankful you took the time and effort to listen to my EP and provide insight without any filtering of what your opinion was for all of the songs.
Shred is just so lovely and hilarious. Love you both, dudes!
Amazing episode, Mike! Fuck, I watched a 3 hour long Podcast in one sitting... One of the best I've seen, ever! 🤘
Dude his arbitrary numbers had me dying 😂😂 Very interesting conversation though. I’ll definitely be checking out more of your podcasts.
The conversation I didn’t knew I needed but I did anyway.
Shred gives me some David Lee Roth vibes, a funny weird guy and on the other side he says a lot of logic and deep stuff.
I hope this is just the beginning of the become the night podcast, because I bought into it
Shred is such an entertaining guy and u 2 definitely have a nice chemistry. I'd love to see you guys do this again.
These podcasts are exactly what I was looking for. Really enjoying them so far 👍
MY GOD THIS IS 3 HOURS LONG
loving the podcast's Mike! I love having these on in the background when working and they're always engaging, keep up the good work!
Awesome seeing you two in the video!!!
You definitely laughed in this video the most out of the last videos…
Was really fun to watch!!
Really appreciate the timestamps. And I am looking forward to these pods. It's great to see YT content creators/musicians talk to each other without the burden to create content.
Greatest episode yet. Shred master Scott is a very articulate and insightful individual and I appreciate this format that let's him actually speak without any editing
Master Shred and Mike. I love both these dudes! What a great podcast.
Fucking magnificent. The vast array of introspections and metal tinged reflections here is amazing. Excellent mix tape of cool casual conversation and deep dives into life's mysteries and musics.
Hope you have much success with the podcast they are focking great bro
2 videos dropped today makes me happy.
Hey this was really good! It’s refreshing to know Shred is so philosophically minded. It pairs well with the hilariously absurd persona he’s crafted for himself. I honestly don’t watch his videos because his click bait is so antagonistic, but knowing his perspective now it makes sense. His point on taking some time to disconnect daily from our “matrix” is really salient. I think people would really be surprised how beneficial it is to take 15 minutes a day to let your mind settle away from technology. Looking forward to more podcast!
Great interview thanks Mike! 🤘
This was fun, kept me entertained for a good while👍.
This isn't food for thought, it's a FEAST for thought. This might be weird to say, but I got so inspired by this discourse that you two are shaping that I declare it to myself as a goal to grow musically enough to one day be a guest on this podcast.
See you in a few years Mike!
A big Thanks to you Mike and your guest Shred for a very interesting and insightful converstation! This podcast is definitely the way to go forward! HUGE take away for me was what Shred said about music creation: "Quantity = Quality". That one phrase, and his explanation, literally, is a GAME CHANGER for me! It has lifted me from my place of being stuck, and feeling overwhelmed and discouraged after 2.5 years of creating a 10 song album that still isn't finished... where now I am once again inspired and moving forward!! I can't tell you how much that helped me! SHRED, I hope you read this and know that you made this difference! I'm on track and I'm no longer discouraged about the large number of songs that I've created that I wound up throwing off this album.. I see them so differently now.. Each song is important and is part of the journey.. and the more songs you make, the better your songs will get!
This was such a great podcast. Newly subscribed and loving your content.
Awesome chemistry between you two
1:32:40 first time I EVER figured out how to play a simple ass 2-string power chord with distortion I felt the greatest sense of euphoria! From there the journey to unlocking musicality as a Black Metal musician began. This episode has a healing aspect to it.
I thoroughly enjoyed listening to/watching your podcasts, especially this one Mike! Music and philosophical subject matter (to a certain extent) are some of my favorite things to talk about. Shred is one of the funniest people on UA-cam and I enjoy his content as much as yours. I also love how Scott stayed in character while speaking genuinely (both of you). This may seem sort of a left field podcast guest request, but Stevie T would be great to see on your channel. Other UA-camrs I think might fit your podcast series include Music Is Win, Samurai Guitarist, Rob Thaller (I dont exactly remember his last name), Jared Dines (WTH has he been lately??), Spectre Sounds Music (SMG). I hope you do well with your series man. Peace!
I agree with all these recommendations, I would also love to see Signal Music Studio and 12 Tone on his podcast.
Outstanding episode 🤘
Not always a big fan of your opinions Mike but I think you and Shred share a great chemistry like a dissonance chemistry
Great convo. Will these podcasts be uploaded anywhere else?
Awesome podcast 👍
Love the collab here men. Also pretty sure Dave has a house in both Franklin and LA.
iirc he currently has one in San Diego not LA. Still, dude's filthy rich lol
This episode was level 666 awesomeness 🤘😈🤘
@30:54 re: at some point someone is being selfless (in order to help someone else). I personally think that 'true selflessness' doesn't exist because even the people who act in what some would consider 'counter to their own self interest' to help someone else, are still not 'truly selfless' because whatever they did sacrifice to help this person or these people, does 'reward' the one sacrificing with the satisfaction of knowing they helped someone. So there is still something in it for them too.
Killer Guests Mike every one🎸🤘
Listened to the Metallica clip. You guys should do one of these more often.
You do a pretty good job of low key apologetics. Keeping the conversation going without stopping to stroll in the theological weeds and staying on topic/not offending the guest is something I have a problem with in personal communication as a Christian.
Love Metallica and cool hat also love sabbath.
good podcast
16:55 Shred I apologize, I left comments on your videos where I was complaining about all these Metallica and Megadeth back to back reaction videos. Now I know why you keep pumping this kind of shallow content.
This was amazing honestly...i watched 69.69 minutes of this podcast
What a legend
holy shit!!!!!! 3 hours
1:55:55 disagree on guitar or violin being best instrument. depends on the context but just as a single instrument the ability to be a classically trained pianist that can essentially captivated an entire audience with just that instrument makes it pretty incredible. Guitar is great but its a complementarity instrument that needs singing or being in a band(some rare exceptions). piano allows you to play an actual song with the vocal melody which is why piano covers are so popular on youtube......look up vkgoeswild as example.
Was just having this debate with my keys player last night 😂 I think I changed my pick to cello, but there's a very good argument for piano!
@@BecomeTheKnight I'm a guitar player for years in different bands and I completely agree with Mike S.
Piano is the one of the few instruments that stands on its own providing it's own bass, melody, and harmony. Accordion and Organs can do this as well but universally most people would find the piano is by far the most elegant with both sound and looks. Here's how I would lay it out
-Piano is highly polyphonic and can imitate a whole orchestra whereas more monophonic instruments like a violin cannot do so
-Piano has a home in almost every style of music including metal
-Piano can be a centerpiece of furniture in a home
-My litmus test is if Im bringing a date back to home place and I had the option of getting my acoustic guitar out and wanking out chords to some random band's song or sitting down to a Steinway grand piano playing Moonlight Sonata Im going with the latter(extra points if you can do the third movement).
With all that said in a band setting keys would be my last choice out of the major instruments(guitar/bass/drums)
Such a cool collab. I actively listen to all of these guys!
Joe Rogan’s podcast, Become the Knight, Master Shred, and big fan of Megadeth.
So uncanny seeing this unfold before my eyes
Haha I’ve been watching the vai s shit lately , I mean i just started watching holy shit😮
Re the question of why more artistic work came out in the 60's & 70's: Frank Zappa had an explanation that rings pretty true to me. In the '50's the suits believed they knew what sold, but when the '60's came, the suits felt a little lost. Music was changing too fast for these older business men to understand, so they ended up deferring to the artist way more than any other era. They threw up their hands and said "I dunno what these hippies want, but they like what your doing so keep doing it." (I'm sure they still tried to dictate, but they did it way less) Then in the '80's the labels had a new crop of suits who were younger and came to the work with the perception that they "knew" what sold, and these younger execs and reps exerted more control again.
That's a really interesting perspective. I don't know enough myself to opine but sounds legit. Appreciate you sharing 🙏🤘
pretty fucking good

Shred is my friend
Kirk took first 4 measures of Dave's solos and changed second 4 measures of them.
Carbonated water helped me quit drinking soda. If youre struggling to quit drinking soda try it out
I wanna play guitar hero but guitars are hella expensive
One day we will (re)discover that incarnation is true, it is part of reality... and then hopefully humanity will grow up.
It is a long lost knowledge... and certain culture still have it, although on a more religious related connotation.
But Science will (re)discover it as well. There have been steps made in this direction, but scientists are afraid to come out with the results.
Afraid of their own colleagues.
Mike is hitting Shred with that truth, but all people wanna complain about is how he's "interrupting" him. If it were the other way around, these people would be quiet as hell.
Late ass comment, but whatever. Beer IS the most supreme alcoholic drink lol
The "C" Word
Young man, there's no need to feel down. I said, young man, pick yourself off the ground.
"Atheism phase". That's some funny shit right there.
Taking about string theories and shit. Literally me and the boys after 69 beers
I’d make a joke about also being a lefty mike, but only 1 in 10 people would get it
I don’t think James has ever liked Dave Mustaine, Lars has a comfortable relationship with Dave nowadays but I’ve never heard about Dave and James ever reconnecting properly and I think Dave’s personality really aggravates James
james doesnt like anyone
@@4md17dave doesnt like anyone

Mike: "How can anyone like kombucha"?
Center/ east europeans and asians who have been consuming fermented food longer than USA exists: 🙋♂️
I'm one of the 6,9 people, yay.
Why don't you two jam
Like davie and Charles
Fta
They do realise Dave Mustaine gets paid royalty everytime Metallica perform a song he helped create for them live right???
Tim Henson is a guitar hero. Im not into their style or music but if I were 15 years old now? Id probably consider him the eddie van halen of my time. i think guitar will always kick ass. this comment may not be relavent to the video and sorry for that. im drinking after work
Sex sells, but who’s buying?
Mike: *tries to get into a complex topic*
Shred: *sees an opportunity to insert himself with overplayed childish nonsense* Yeah, like 6.9 procent alcohol hahahahaha.
Mike: *tries to not disappoint his more alpha friend* Haha I guess.
at least all of megadeths albums are good if not they arent horrible
Risk is trash, super collider is trash and about half of there mid career albums are mediocre at best
@@nemesis8626 metallics has 4 good albums black album is mid everything after that I can definitely care less about
@@nemesis8626 I agree risk and super collider aren't that good but their first 7 albums are good all the way through
40 years, why the fuck is anyone even discussing Metallica and Dave.
