Bittersweet feelings... that is a great album to enjoy great music but also makes me feel homesick of past good old times. Time passes, my hair gets white, youth is a memory...And the logo, oh the classic logo...!

This along with Emperor's "In The Nightslide Eclipse", Bathory's "Under The Sign of the Black Mark" and Darkthrone's "A Blaze In The Northern Sky" were my gateway albums into Black Metal in the late 90s as a 15 year old. Nothing in music will ever recreate the excitement of discovering Black Metal.

my gateway was dornenreich, cradle of filth, gorgoroth - antichrist, darkthrone - under a funeral moon... didnt liked dimmu borgir very much back than in my youth, but Im positiv surprised by this album atm, its really good

*_I have no idea to this day what these talented Norwegians are singing about. Truth is, I don't want to know. Some things are better left unsaid. I'd like to think they are singing about something so beautiful, it can't be expressed in words, and it makes your heart ache because of it. I tell you, these voices, guitars and synths soar higher and farther than anybody in a grey place dares to dream. It is as if some beautiful bird had flapped into your drab little cage and made those walls dissolve away, and for the briefest of moments, you feel free._*

Their best album, and the one with the most "soul" invested in it. It's clear they weren't yet stars trying to please the fanbase or labels or doing things for the money (which I can understand btw, all of us work for money). It could have failed in so many ways yet we have this masterpiece. Stormblast was good as well btw, very good, but not as good as For All Tid. Their real downfall started after Death Cult Armageddon, I think the remake of Stormblast was a mistake but I understand why they did it (the plagiarism part of the original and they were already a big band). But the big downfall started especially after Abrahadabra and Eonian was even worse. Oh well, it happens to many bands. But at least we have Old Dimmu (1994 - 2003).

Here is Silenoz that sang! And he did rhytm guitar while Tjodalv did the lead guitars. Probaby i prefer this line up disposition more than the following except for the drums, but the guitars absolutely here were the best.

Tjodalv играл на барабанах и в .Old Man's Child. а потом и в .Dimmu Borgir. но .Silenoz. тоже умеет играть на .барабанах.

@@zetsushoren im sure that the first version was just the string ensemble running tru and what I think Stian Aarstad had another track for it adding the crazy piano song due of boredom
