Very educational. I have never seen a taxidermist at work. He is right that being ambidextrous is a virtue especially in his line of professional work. The crow's ringtone on your cell phone is fantastic. You are definitely in tune with nature.
This was educational and interesting at the same time. Seeing this done by a professional, inside his shop, is so much different than seeing one of my cousins that's a "taxidermist in training", lol. 🦌
My friends who are taxidermist, showed my to do this years ago. Makes it so nice when out of state. I put the cape in a bag in the cooler with my meat. This prevents any slippage the hide may get from getting to warm (rot). Also when I cut antlers off of skull, takes up a lot less space.
Are deer affected with bot fly larvae in North America, never heard that but makes sense that those awful things have moved north from South America. Had a friend that did taxidermy when I lived up in Michigan and helped him cape out a few bucks and he did it very close to the same way but everyone has their own little tricks. Great vid thanks.
i feel alittle attacked over the hair around the antlers 😂 i actually had no idea you could do that im going to try next time i get one if i remember ill let you know how it turns out lol

I’ve never understood the appeal of hunting in a high fenced area. Mostly rich people paying exorbitant fees to easily get a trophy buck. Not real hunting IMO.
I guess there's more than one way to skin a deer.. My dad did taxidermy work on the side when I was younger. He told me he was the only one in our area that did not cut the "V" (or a Y in this video) behind the antlers to limit the stitching. Said over time it would break down and you could see it. I can't answer questions on how it did what he did because I have no clue but he did it for 10-12 years and had repeating customers so....
Well congratulations on your dear I guess every taxidermist does it a little different but I can assure you the taxidermist down here in the South don't cut all the way down the center of the neck they shave the hide off of the neck Roll It Off like a glove and they only cut a y pattern cut between the bass of each antler. And after putting the deer head on the mount and installing the antlers on the mount there is only about 15 or 20 stitches bringing everything together but everyone does things a little different
You never measure over the hide, this guy has no idea what he's doing! Cutting through the scalp from the top side, cutting the hair, I hope he doesn't charge much!
@@syrjanen3397 I bet there's enough meat from deer that he's killed to feed them for years. Btw, it's only fresh for a short time, then has to be used or put in freezer.

Thanks for watching and I appreciate the kind words.

I agree, a professional makes a big difference. Thank you for watching.
Great video, had a bunch of them done but always wondered how they got around the antlers and the cape off. Thanks!
Now I see why this costs as much as it does. Excellent video.
Very informative video. Liked seeing how he used a screwdriver to get the hide and hair pulled away from the base of the antlers 👍
I have done 300
That ringtone is pure freaking genius I have never thought of that HAHA 😂
Imagine Aliens doing this to us 😂😂

He did a great job! Thank you for sharing my friend!
Nice!!! Just got my first Mature Buck mounted 2 weeks ago. Now I know how it goes.
AWESOME!!! Never seen that done before. Thank you. 👍🇨🇱
Excellent idea to use a crow's ring tone
Nice buck Sir! Congratulations
One really has to love that work to do it. I don't have the patience.
This was amazing thank you my friend

I absolutely would habe taken that neck roast! Litteraly looks like a full roast
Likely hasn't been kept at safe temperatures. Definitely could have salvaged that meat during the initial skinning. Neck roasts are great.
This is a pretty neat video. “Right Gregg?”
Appreciate you watching.
Interesting !!
Continue steps in process, be nice series.
I always wondered how they did that. Thanks.
Greg in fact did not think that was a good deer. Lol
Wondering whether he tans the hide or freeze dries it?
Tans for sure. Thanks for watching.
That dude is a surgeon with a razor and a scalpel skinning that deer. Always wondered what they used for the eyes. Now I know.
Gotta love Missouri
If it's like mine throws it in the freezer, and forgets about it for a yr.😂

Awesome. Thanks for watching.
I never knew they used the actual nose from the deer I thought it would have been like eyes where you replaced it with something how do they cure it

Remember a High Fence Ranch is a deer farm. They raise deer to be hunted for money.
Rattle a bucket of nuts and wait for the deer to come for dinner😂

The neck meat is no good?
In his pocket!

That's the old way. Bur to bur is the only cut you need 4 inches of sowing later
That ant shit my shop got five times the pill of antlers. I don't make the espionage in the back so long I go to the back of the head.
That pile was from that day. The rest were in the back where I did not show. Appreciate you watching.
Wow
Do you guys ever eat whatever was left after the skinning of the head?
What are you we Todd did😂
Head cheese, my great grandmother told me about the stuff.😅
You never measure over the hide, this guy has no idea what he's doing! Cutting through the scalp from the top side, cutting the hair, I hope he doesn't charge much!
I hope you educate yourself bud
Gotta love know it all's that know nothing😂
Are you a taxidermist?
@Everyday_Railroading for 25+ years
@Digglerdirk79-l4y I don't know it all, but I know how to do taxidermy. Do you?
Poor deer was killed so you and your friends could be You Tube stars. SMH
And get fresh meat ms ❄️❄️
Killed many a deer like this way before UA-cam. Just Videoing what is already being done. Thanks for watching.
We still eat the meat, we just have the head mounted to remember the hunt yah goof.😂
