Can anybody - any doctor - just explain WHAT TO DO about high blood glucose levels, insulin resistance, or fatty liver? I didn’t come to this video (or any other like it) to master a course in human physiology. If fasting is required, then recommend a specific fasting regimen. If additional fiber intake would be helpful, tell me what brand of fiber and how much to take and when (e.g., times of day). If my automobile needs a new timing belt, I want the mechanic to fix the issue, or tell me what part to buy so that I can fix the issue. I don’t want a lecture on the workings of an internal combustion engine.
I eat two meals a day and finish eating at 12pm in the afternoon. When I wake up after not eating for 16 hours my blood glucose can be 7 or 8. Can’t figure it out.

Great to hear the good doctor, as always. However, several burning questions still remain: Will they soon invent non-invasive CGMs for us squeamish needle-phobes? Will these (in the UK) be made available free on the NHS for pre-diabetics and Type-2 diabetics? When will there be easily administered saliva and/or urine tests to assess sugar levels - instead of horrible blood tests we phobics can't face having? And regarding supermarket foods: When will the retailers catch up and make - instead of normal supermarket bread - a nice rich dense dark rye sourdough loaf (to give just one example) made with good quality olive oil that we carb addicts (who have largely gone low carb but still need a little of our favourite starches) can eat occasionally? Decades ago, I used to be able to easily find black pumpernickel in the shops (for a reasonable price) - but now I don't see it anywhere near me!!! Such substitutes are necessary for some of us. Anyhow...food for thought! lol. Many thanks once again for the helpful and interesting video. :-)
Excellent podcast, we need to sing this on the roof tops and all the streets. Tell big pharma.to get lost. The government need to retrain all GP's they are grossly out of touch.
Some Drs in the NHS will not give type 2 diabetics testing equipment. They say they want us to eat properly having an HBA1C every 6 months. I have never seen a doctor for my diabetes. I have had to buy my own machine. I'm on pension credit, so I'm limited to how much I can use it.. I have no help, no support or anyone to talk about my tests, diet. I see the diabetic nurse every 6 months, She looks at my bloods says HBA1C @ 45-46 says good I can't tell you off. I can't get the A1C any lower. I'm dealing with my diabetes on my own. I put myself on the original diabetic diet of the 1960s which was a low carb diet. I wasn't even given a diabetic diet sheet. Not that I would have used it. I am using UA-cam to gather any information I can. What I do lack are recipes. If recipes are mentioned they wants loads of money.
Lowcarb doesnt mean its zerocarb..becoz we still need small amount of carb in good sources..becoz its natural we need to balance out 3 main energy source..but im so happy i can manage to eat less carbo now..i feel i can do it ..but once in a week i eat 3/4cup of rice just to make me feel satisfied..but i compensate it by walking right away or make some aero moves just to make sure my sugar wont spike..i want full remission and i know i am doing good..i have made a good start to cut starches in my diet..thanks..and continue inspiring us to be healthy and make a bold lifestyle change 😅

Why don't the doctors give the diabetics a chart set out in layman's terms of do s and don't about what you can and can't eat and drink healthily to Elay you from developing diabetis instead of prescribing drugs or are they bound by big business notably the drug companies what's it to be health or profit
I recommend reading a really interesting book, which is perfect for the layman, titled “Glucose Revolution” by a French lady named Jessie Inchauspe. It explains everything about carbohydrates and how the body processes sugars and the action of insulin. I have no in-depth knowledge of the subject, but the author is very talented at explaining complex processes in simply terms. She has also produced various YT videos about the subject. I hope this helpful. All the best.
Diabetes is a choice. Eating a zero sugar, zero carbs diet kills t2 diabetes in a very short time. Every time. Choose health, not death. Doctors dont want you to be healed. There is no money in curing. Lots of money in treating.
Dr David Unwin should come clear at some point though about the dangers of low carb diets on developing gallstones, kidney stones, kidney toxicity, pancreas strain, heart palpitations etc etc. He must tackle those important topics for those patients who cautiously think into getting to such a specialised regime
I have been carnivore diet for 4mths. At age 63, down 24kg. Arthritis gone, ibs gone, gastric reflux gone, joint pain gone, prostate issues gone, depression gone, anxiety gone, sleep apnoea gone, mental health is fabulous. I have eliminated all sugar, carbs, seed oils, processed foods and plants. I have never been healthier. Insulin resistance is also the primary driver of cardiovascular disease, not cholesterol. Having low cholesterol levels is the primary driver of most mental health issues including depression, anxiety, alzheimers, parkinsons and many others.
The healthiest cultures on the planet, the ones with zero cancer, zero cardiovascular disease, zero diabetes, zero alzheimers, parkinsons etc are the ones who eat a diet completely, exclusively, of high saturated fatty meat. This is easily checked. I know it seems crazy, but it absolutely works. In the west we also ,a century ago, had virtually zero cases of those diseases, until we changed our diets to high sugar, high carbohydrates and seed oils. Now we have the poorest health on the planet, despite our technology and enormous investment in medical research and pharmaceutical products. I have transformed my life, physical and mental, in a matter of 4mths eating zero sugar, zero carbs, zero plants. Who knew.
I am surprised that the medical community is so slow to study and adopt different strategies for care. COVID is a good example. My dad went on the Atkins diet in 1972 - a Low carb diet - after the popular book was released. Many in medical and food industry blasted the book. 50 years later it is back and both communities are attacking it again.
I'm beginning to think it is Eat Nothing Most of the Time. When you must eat, have as little as possible. Never Any Sugar of Any Kind. Drink nothing but plain water.
Butter not good for you? Sorry, but you still have some studying to do on the low carb, keto, ketovore, carnivore way of eating. The Good Doctor politely ignored your statements about butter...
My mom is not statistically significant or peer reviewed but her experience has had real significance among her circle of friends and family. 2 1/2 years ago, my 80 year old mother finally had a follow up appointment with her physician which was delayed for months because her doctor has been in charge of treating Covid patients in the hospital and in nursing homes and was not able to meet with her. She had a full blood panel taken for this visit and her doctor was astounded at the progress she had made during the last year. She is now no longer diabetic and she was instructed to stop taking insulin after having been on it for 12 years. Her doctor also praised her kidney function which has never looked better. Also, she couldn't believe that her total cholesterol was only 139, with LDL of 67, HDL of 60, and triglycerides of 82 which is a big improvement for her. According to the Framingham Heart Study, these numbers mean that she is virtually "heart attack proof" as many plant based doctors have noted. Her physician (Johns Hopkins med school grad) mentioned that she is reconsidering the diet for her family based on this experience. She also asked my mom to share her experience with our community after the pandemic. All of these results are exactly what I had hoped would occur. Below is a typical day of eating for her. I plugged her bloodwork test values into the Levine Biological Age Calculator and she has aged minus 15 years during the last 3 years. I joke with her that she may be required to give up her Social Security benefits if she keeps going like that. My understanding is that low carb diets are a workaround that do not address the root cause of diabetes which is excess intramyocellular lipids (also fatty liver/pancreas) and the resulting insulin resistance. Excess saturated fats and refined sugar/flour are the most common cause of this metabolic system failure. Unless a person can eat whole food complex carbs again without a prolonged spiking of their blood sugar, type 2 diabetes has not been reversed. ps - She was able to get off of all blood pressure medications after 3 years, tapering off so as not to over-medicate which is dangerous because it can deprive tissues of necessary oxygen and nutrients. Here is the menu for a typical day: Breakfast: Organic steel cut oats with wild blueberries, raspberries, 1/2 banana, tablespoon of ground flax and ground chia seeds, tablespoon of hemp seeds, organic soy milk, cinnamon. Lunch: Green smoothie heavy on the low-oxalate greens (frozen kale or collard greens, frozen pineapple, banana, orange, lemon wedge with rind, organic soy milk, avocado sliver, amla powder, dulse flakes, apple cider vinegar, blackstrap molasses, nutritional yeast, small scoop of hemp protein powder, fresh ginger, medjool date, fresh kale) with a small handful of almonds and walnuts - or - some soup and salad. Before dinner snack: one apple. Dinner: Variety of simple meals including spaghetti, chili, vegetable soup with beans, lintel miso soup with organic tofu cubes/onions/mushrooms/kale, split pea soup with onions/mushrooms/carrots/celery/potato, roasted vegetables (squash/carrots/potatoes), rice and beans bowl with onions/mushrooms/kale/peppers/salsa, organic tofu scramble with onions/mushrooms/peppers/kale/turmeric/nutritional yeast, broccoli, asparagus, etc. Dessert: frozen banana whip with papaya or strawberries topped some days with a couple of macadamia nuts or a Brazil nut. Make sure to include G-Bombs every day for optimal immune system (i.e. - greens, beans, onions, mushrooms, berries, seeds). Avoid most processed foods. Include tofu perhaps twice a week but not more. Stop eating after an early dinner except for a few pistachios before bedtime.
@@t.corazon6350 Her menu addresses the root cause of type 2 diabetes rather than the symptoms. The menu is inspired by Nutritarian principles but the specific meals are adapted to my mom's food preferences so that it could more easily become a sustainable lifestyle for her. Seems to be working well based on her bloodwork tests. I went to a community education program at the local hospital for diabetics and the food guide that was being passed out was written by one of the leading manufacturers of insulin. If these patients followed the advice given, it would virtually guarantee that they would be insulin customers for the rest of their lives.
I don’t view insulin resistance from the same point as you do. Ben Bikman does a better job of explaining why that point of view really isn’t an explanation of insulin resistant. Glucose stimulates insulin production. If your insulin level is low, you aren’t, in effect insulin resistant. I’m all for you and your mom eating the way she does if it makes her happy. I think people can be healthy eating low carb or high carb/low fat. You just can’t do both. That’s a SAD diet (I know I’m being redundant. I lost more than 80 lbs going Low Carb. Im too much of carb addict to go the way of your mom. Even though she, too, is avoiding unhealthy carbs, it would be a slippery slope for me.
@@bonnieo8 My mother is not eating "low fat" because she intentionally eats slow fats with most meals for more optimal nutrient absorption. Slow fats are whole plant food fats with fiber such as nuts, seeds and avocados. Slow carbs are whole plant food carbs such as fruits and vegetables. Her Slow Carb Slow Fat diet style gives her steady energy without overwhelming her metabolic systems and pathways. A couple of months ago, I asked her doctor to perform an hs-CRP blood test which measures inflammation and her result was 0.4mg/L which is typical for a teenager. She also now has an eGFR of 85 (kidney function) which is typical for a 40 year old female after she previously had been diagnosed with stage 3 chronic kidney disease. She has now aged minus 18 years according to the Levine Biological Age Calculator! I would never want my mom to go low carb because research indicates that it is associated with increased all cause mortality. You are correct that the SAD diet is even worse though because it is mostly Fast Carbs (flours/sugars) and Fast Fats (oils) from processed foods that trigger overeating due to their effect on the brain's hunger signaling. Sadly, we have created an unnatural food environment that is deadly for many people.
The nhs doctors in England are totally useless & all they want to do is prescribe medication & no other help & that's because NHS doctors in local surgerys are paid by pharmaceutical companies to only prescribe medication. The real threat to people with type 2 diabetes is the so called health professionals in doctors surgerys & now i no longer have any faith in nhs doctors surgerys. On my third doctor's now & i have learnt more from doctor's on UA-cam than the awful NHS doctors surgerys. I have heard on UA-cam that doctors actively want people to die rather than help them. No doubt orders from government. ?

We are in the process of adding an international version of our Reversing Type 2 Diabetes Programme to our website where you will get access to all of our learning and downloadable content too. This will be available for all over the next few days www.healthresults.com/collections/courses
Dr Unwin was very informative. How can i get his 800 type of foods that were intepreted in teaspoons. Really a great idea.
Brilliant. Thank you.
How can we get your charts. This is very informative. Thank you.
David Unwin's charts can be found on the PHC website here: phcuk.org/sugar/
You can also find them in our 'The Secret to Health' free book on our website: www.healthresults.com/pages/free-books

Great information ! My question is how long does it take reversing diabetes when on a clean diabetic diet ?
I took 12 weeks started with dropping my meds
Keyo diet, 5 days normal then doing 12hrs fasts 2 days, built to 18, when l felt comfortable moved to 24hrs
Then 72 hrs. I do On a monthly basis.
After first 72 hrs fast Bld sugar drops Around 25%
So for me that was 14 to 9
Next 72 down 9 to 7.
Next 7 down 5s.
It will drop around 25 % each time.
Combined with a daily 5 klm fast walk building up to intermittent jog then walk.
I took 1 aspirin at night as required to help sleep as l got headaches. You get a sensitive liver sleightly aching middle area
Still all good no eye injections toe nearopothy getting better
See Sten Ekberg good explanation and foods to avoid
Wow great job !!! Hope it continues to drop for you ,down to normal range 🎈🎈 yay !! Thank you for answering me
Oh , I'm doing keto diet as well , have been for two weeks .. My a1c in September was at 10.9 🙄😬 .. Been on keto since
Thank you for the good work
Great to hear the good doctor, as always.
Really, could anyone concentrate.. on what foods to eat.. explain the right call carbohydrates.. up front frist..but this doctor is amazing!
Excellent podcast, we need to sing this on the roof tops and all the streets. Tell big pharma.to get lost. The government need to retrain all GP's they are grossly out of touch.
Very detailed Dr. ❤
They have a duty to give you testing monitor test stripes keep. Going it takes a bit of time
Women get belly fat when they go through the menopause though so how do we get rid of that does that cause diabetes
There is no daily requirement for carbs.
@@gungho1284 yes..but i have problem with satiety and minimal carbs helps..just need to manage it not to spike my insulin
@@brooch15 When you have these problem episodes, have you checked whether you're blood sugar might actually be dipping too low? In which case a small amount of carbs would help keep, or return them to, the appropriate level.😊
@@Lennythewinner i agree..but in my case..i really cant help avoiding carbs coz its more readily available..it really tkes will power and finacial capacity to do it...everything should be bought n prepare in lowcarb
Meats and dairy are not bad? What about animal protein in them?
Animal sources of protein harmless.
Why don't the doctors give the diabetics a chart set out in layman's terms of do s and don't about what you can and can't eat and drink healthily to Elay you from developing diabetis instead of prescribing drugs or are they bound by big business notably the drug companies what's it to be health or profit
Dr's get commission & bonuses for every prescription they prescribe. They don't gain anything from a healthy patient.
Japan is one of the Blue Zone countries and they eat rice everyday. Also blue zone countries do eat quick a lot of carbs, so what say you.
Omg! I just ate a whole pack of chocolate biscuits! Shoot!
I need to take heed of these videos!
I need to strengthen my resolve!
I can’t get enough of diabetics information to help me cure my diabetes and not the pills
A plant-based diet is a sugar-based diet. Plants all have carbs, are mostly carbs. Some plants have some fats, some have some protein. Right?
I recommend reading a really interesting book, which is perfect for the layman, titled “Glucose Revolution” by a French lady named Jessie Inchauspe. It explains everything about carbohydrates and how the body processes sugars and the action of insulin. I have no in-depth knowledge of the subject, but the author is very talented at explaining complex processes in simply terms. She has also produced various YT videos about the subject. I hope this helpful. All the best.
How does the bad western diet influence gallstones? Is it the same mechanism of high sugar causing the development of gallstones?
Fruits lead to fatty liver. Fructose can be metabolismo in liver.
*You Did Not Choose To Be Classified As Diabetic, But You Can Choose To Fight Back Against Diabetes* 💪
Of course people have a choice. Type 2 diabetes is what food you decide to eat
Diabetes is a choice. Eating a zero sugar, zero carbs diet kills t2 diabetes in a very short time. Every time. Choose health, not death. Doctors dont want you to be healed. There is no money in curing. Lots of money in treating.
Fewer drugs, less disease.
Countable and uncountable nouns.
Dr David Unwin should come clear at some point though about the dangers of low carb diets on developing gallstones, kidney stones, kidney toxicity, pancreas strain, heart palpitations etc etc. He must tackle those important topics for those patients who cautiously think into getting to such a specialised regime
compared to insulin sensitivity, heart attack, stroke, obesity, dementia etc.
Low carb doesn’t CAUSE gallstones. Listen to Dr. Sarah Hallberg explain this.
Who knew.
Carbs and processed sugar equal death
What do you think of one slice sourdough toasted?
Indeed, Dr Unwin, I too, in a country far away, notice how trim and robust you are looking. I love it that you walk the walk...!😘💋❣️
Change your diet & do more exercise & drink lots of water & only eat fresh foods
Wow, this is ...wow
😊
Wooow wow
Guy on right needs to stop interrupting the guest
I'm beginning to think it is Eat Nothing Most of the Time. When you must eat, have as little as possible. Never Any Sugar of Any Kind. Drink nothing but plain water.

When the HOST talks i MUTE them!
Why doesn't the HOST shut up and let the doctor do his job?
ypu have to say no a lot and it had to be always ..or reversal won't wor5
Frequent biscuit eating is dangerous.
Butter not good for you? Sorry, but you still have some studying to do on the low carb, keto, ketovore, carnivore way of eating. The Good Doctor politely ignored your statements about butter...
I didn’t hear him say butter is bad. What I heard his say was butter (fat) in combination with sugar is bad.
This guy is from the shopping channel and according to his channel hopping he is an expert on everything from diamonds to dog food!!!! FAKE FAKE
Stop interrupting the doctor...be quiet
NONSENS
Here is the menu for a typical day:
Breakfast: Organic steel cut oats with wild blueberries, raspberries, 1/2 banana, tablespoon of ground flax and ground chia seeds, tablespoon of hemp seeds, organic soy milk, cinnamon.
Your mom still eats a lot of carbs….. spaghetti, bananas, papaya, oats, potatoes….
Yes… understood!
@glynatmore1817 Dr. Unwin is an NHS GP. He may be the only one speaking truth, but at least the NHS has one good one.
For the first time I understand how diabetes works.
