This is such a fun video to share! I have a huge book haul from Christianbook.com and from ebay. Some of it is homeschool curriculum for next year, some is for Easter, some for birthday and others are just great quality books that I'm excited to add to our homeschool library!

I have a box waiting for me to open here from christian book! Great minds think alike 😂😂😂 i got the childrens mystery box too! I've known about it but always never ordered. I've finally ordered it this time and am so excited to open it! ❤🎉

Sharon Creech wrote the wander and while I haven’t read that one, I like some of her other books.
My daughter *loves* Wingfeather Saga. We listened to the Audiobooks, read by the author, and they were fantastic. They have a show by Angel Studios now too.
The Watsons go to Birmingham is my all time favorite book. It’s such a fun/sad book!!
I loved Hatchet! My teacher read it to our class in 4th grade and I still think about it! It’s on my list for us to read in our homeschool when my kids are older.
I got a bunch of the dear American and royal diaries books last year off of eBay, it was way cheaper and some of them are out of print now. I also have 3 girls so I was looking for historical fiction about strong women.
I DO trust Christianbook, but stil use a discerning eye. I have found children's books on their site that I adamantly DON'T agree with, so I've really had to start reading reviews, etc. Just be careful. Very cool about the $10 mystery box though. Love the Critical Thinking Co books. We've been devouring Mind Benders. Cricket in Times Square is one of my absolute favs. You'll love it!
Do you mind sharing which ones you’ve seen? I know we all have different things we’re on the lookout for so I’m just curious what you saw/didn’t like (if you don’t mind sharing that 😊)

@@thepracticalhomeschooler it's been over a year since I stumbled on them, but there are picture books promoting certain cultural gender issues.
“Julie of the Wolves” was one of my favorite books when I was in 4th grade! “Rascal” was a really neat book, too. I remember doing a book report about that. I tried the first of the Wingfeather books with my 9 year old and he didn’t care for it. He is quite sensitive and I have to be very selective in what he takes in for reading and tv. I scanned the Wingfeather book and thought he probably wasn’t ready for it, but he’s a very good judge for himself at what will work for him and what won’t. So, I read the beginning with him and he said, “Not yet.” I think it’s neat that he’s very aware of himself. Thanks for sharing!
Ginger Pye was my favorite book as a kid! I remember reading The Moffats too (same universe).
I LOVED Wally McDoogle books when I was a kid!
That's a fun idea about the $10 mystery box. I'll have to check it out. I also am thinking about checking out the Bible study books from Master books. I like hearing your updates. My daughter is a little older than your 2nd grader.
We did Ginger Pye as a read aloud last year and my daughter still talks about how much she loved it. The Westing Game is a fun one too! I remember it from grade school and my eldest blew threw it when she was 11-12

Wow that lot of eBay books for $30!! 🎉So many great ones. I buy books quite a bit from eBay, but I’ve never boughten a lot like that. My daughter loves The Wingfeather saga!
I saw the imagine series on book outlet awhile ago but it was gone before I could grab it, reminds me of Superbook. I was thinking it would be great for my kids! It’s so cheap on Christian book 😮added to cart 🛒

We had my oldest daughter’s birthday party today and we got her the second wing feather saga book. She loved the first book👍🏻

Wait, what?! I look through the Christianbooks catalog all the time! I’ve never seen a mystery box! Now I have to look. I literally have a catalog sitting right next to me now.
I just saw it for the first time a couple weeks ago and I ALWAYS check their catalogs so I’m not sure if it’s new or not, but definitely fun!!
@@thepracticalhomeschooler I realized after I said this you likely mean their regular book catalog, right? I never look at that one, I always just keep the homeschool one.
Wingfeather has some really scary child abduction and abuse. I STRONGLY recommend pre-reading those before handing them to your kids.
Check the catalogs on their website. I found a mystery box link on the website version of the catalog
We ordered the surprise box for our Easter baskets too and got the exact same things.
So it does seem they are standard for everyone for a while and then they will change the box up
What is the surprise box called? Is it the fiction surprise box that is for the kids books?

I have to open it right away and then I stupidly change my mind about the curriculum I bought but can’t return it to Christanbooks because I took the plastic off. I have BJU press 3rd grade math and reading Complete sets I’m m now trying to sell on macari and eBay . But besides their return policy I like the store.

@@thepracticalhomeschooler the Walley McDougal books are a blast from the bast, my brother and I used to read those goofy books in middle school.
I have to open right away, and this is the first time mine won’t be from Christianbook.
My girls saw the myster box in the catalog and asked for it for their Bday- so we got all the same books LOL

@Brigsgirl22 Yes, for the most part. They change it up- but not sue often. You can call and they will tell you what's in it currently. They also put what books are in it when it ships, so you can look at that to see what's coming- but of course that's after you purchase
I share your concern about book content, and this comment is just a possible "heads up" about Susan Cooper's The Dark Is Rising. It did receive a Newbery Medal, a Horn Book Award, and lots of other accolades. It's kind of a mix of Celtic myths and Welsh legends. As the series goes on, (specifically in the second book) Christianity is not portrayed in the most positive light, so you might want to take that into consideration. Lots of other gems in your book boxes!
