Yay, Sonlight!! Love Sonlight so much here! ❤ Also the book Life in the Great Ice Age and the books on dinosaurs and creation are excellent!! Great choices! ❤
Lauren - Absolutely loving your content! I recently found your channel and also have 3 kids of similar ages to your family. I appreciate your prespective on homeschool, as we are also praying about which kids to send to school and keep home. Loved your science picks too! My younger kids have the Usborne Lift-a-flap Look Inside Your Body book and they love it. Might be up your younger daugher's alley. 😊
I feel like our minds work so much the same when planning homeschool curriculum! I’m using Masterbooks Science and Abeka Science for my 4th and 5th graders in the new school year and I am so excited! I love all the things! And my oldest (soon to be 10th grader wants to do TGATB science units along with Masterbooks Science(we are calling it General Science for him.😁)
That is a very well thought out plan! 😊 We’re doing two TGATB Science units. Kingdoms and Classification and Marine Biology. Your review convinced me about the Marine Biology one, my daughter loves that topic. I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on the others because we haven’t done any before next year except Mammals.
This looks so interesting and exciting! Love how Sonlight is broken down. And each year kids attention span increases and will be able to take in longer lessons.
Wow, that’s a LOT of different topics for Sonlight! I keep looking at apologia…my kids love science, but I too hate finding all the items for the experiments. Any curriculum that has a fully constructed lab kit is our kind of science.
Next year is looking SO fun for you guys! Sonlight is amazing!!! 😍 One of my kiddos is using HBL and Science F, which is the eastern hemisphere and the human body/anatomy for science. It's all so fun!!
So fun!!! Next year looks amazing for you guys ❤ we have been loving sonlight this year for history and science. The science kit is so amazing! And I am just in awe of how much my kindergartener has learned!
Sounds like a fun year! I'm looking forward to using Sonlight science...I know that I am not a science experiment person...I never have random supplies on hand, but I think the supply kit and the experiment guide book will make it possible to do science experiments regularly.
We love Sonlight science, We'll also be doing Science C this homeschool year and use Dinosaur books from MB purchased a year ago but never utilized it.
Great back to back videos ! We are doing science from apologia and will be adding dinosaur unit study also. We added 3 different curriculums for Bible 👀 one was just not enough for us 😅so I get what your saying , but it will all work out ! 🙏🏻 and if we have to we will extend to the next school year, no need to rush for us 😊
We just ordered health and the physical body too! I was thinking of ordering health and the human mind to go along with it & probably will. I was trying to figure out what else to do for science. I’ve been browsing Apolgia, beautiful feet, etc. I may do a workbook science too but would rather do something a bit different. Love your homeschool videos - as a first time homeschool mom, they really help. Congrats on the baby- been following your journey. 💜🙏🏼
We got apologia anatomy and it looks so great! But after looking through, it was going to be too much for my littler one. I’m holding onto it for later though! It says elementary, but definitely seems more middle school to me. It goes into a lot of depth!
I love all the books you shared... I think my boys would love to do paleontology unit! The books from Masterbooks looks great. And yes I can so relate to the supply list for experiments 😅 sometimes it will ask for a random item... and I'm like okay we aren't doing lol
We used TGTB science units this year for the first time and we LOVE them! Have you used the revised version already? I’m curious to see reviews of how ppl like the new format. It seems like there’s a lot less content.
Currently mapping out how I want to combine TGTB science with God's Design for Science. Keeping the framework of GD and using TGTB to supplement by using a corresponding lesson/lessons as a preface for GD wherever possible and then also using GD for testing comprehension. I think using TGTB as a secondary curriculum to keep kids engaged is a great addition to any main curriculum, which is important for making sure that you are covering all of your bases.
We're also doing 2 sciences next year. We're combining apologia health/body and also doing TG&TB health and the physical body! I don't know how I'm doing it yet, but I just couldn't pass up TG&TB.
I actually got that apologia one and shared it in the video (but it was getting too long so I edited that part out). It looks SO good, but i think it would be too much for my younger one. Holding onto it for later though!
I loved hearing that you're a dietician. I have a child with a rare condition where he's allergic to all food, so it's something I am pursuing as a career. Have you happen to find any curriculum that shows how to read and understand food labels?
@@thepracticalhomeschooler 😂😂 That’s funny! Oddly enough, our second and now third child’s names were on our original lists from when my first was born. 👍🏻I guess we just knew. 🥰
For your little one you may like God’s Design for Beginners one is Life and the other is Heaven and Earth ( I don’t like the older levels) She would just complete a worksheet daily. I have Evan Moore Skill Sharpener but, I like the worksheet in God’s Design so my little preschooler feels like she is doing school. 🥰 also plan to combine with TGTB Little Hearts and Hands and the new one when it comes out this summer! 🙏🏾 I love all of your choices for your older kiddos 👍🏾🙌🏾 I purchased the magic school bus DVDs and books as well.
@@thepracticalhomeschooler May I ask why she didn’t like it? We are starting God’s Design this summer so would love some advice on what to avoid with the curriculum?
Thank you so much for sharing, and I am really interested in the new earth dinosaurs books. Would it be possible to have a flip through of those books and your initial thoughts, intrigued how dionosaurs fit into the new earth theory. Because there is no mention of dinosaurs in the creation story, I was wondering whether God made our earth from elements in the space, perhaps a planet that once existed, where dinosaurs inhabited. Maybe dinosaurs were not actually on earth here but did exist and are part of our rock here because earth was made from a planet, idk 🤷♀️😃. Then I have swayed to old earth but not be able to make any sense to how dinosaurs fitted in as there is no mention on it. So I would love to try and learn more, and see how dinosaurs could have existed with Adam and Eve. Lots of Christian UA-cam mamas seem to know their beliefs on this, but I am So confused over it, so would love any insight or explaining, because I just tend to hear, whether a person sways to an old earth perspective or new earth but I have no idea how others come to this, 🙃. We love Sonlight too!

O yes that one is on my list too! I think I might just check it out from the library…I can’t buy anymore 🫣🫣

We have that dragon book! It’s really neat! Looks like a great setup for you guys next year!! So fun!

My girls saw the kit and got so excited! Glad to hear you liked it ☺️
We use Sonlight! Level C was one of the levels we used this year. Enjoyed it!

You gotta get a little from each curriculum 😊😊
I can’t wait to hear how you like Sonlight science-I’ve had my eye on that curriculum for a few years now, but I’ve never taken the plunge.
Same!! I’ll definitely give a review!
Sure looks like you have a great plan to do both!
Please do an end of year homeschool room/supplies clean up and organize! And also a school room setup to prep for next year!
What! That is so exciting you are trying the SL science! We are also doing Science C and my kids are really excited 😊
Nice! I watched a lot of your Sonlight videos while researching ☺️☺️
@@thepracticalhomeschooler haha, happy to help!
We love sonlight!! We use the HBL and science! We are also on C in the fall🎉
Inventions!! So fun! Have you guys read any of the accidental inventions books? They are really fun!

I have and am sharing all about it in an upcoming video, but yes, we like them!
@@thepracticalhomeschooler oh Good! I’ll be watching for that video! I’d love to hear/see a comparison. 💕

I haven’t looked into a specific curriculum for that (I guess because I can teach that part myself). But I think masterbooks has a nutrition course.
We’ll have to look into these. Your makeup in beautiful btw! What foundation do you use??
Thank you…how sweet. I actually don’t wear foundation 🫣 I think the ring light helps haha
My kids loves SL science ❤
I can’t wait to hear what your baby girl’s name is going to be! ❤😊 I’m sure it’ll be beautiful like the rest of them! 😊
I can’t wait to hear either 🫣😂 we’re still undecided 😩 it’s SO hard!

I’d like to recommend a UA-cam channel called Dr. Binocs to help supplement your sciences. It makes science fun for kids!
O, thanks!
Are you LDS, is that why you chose TGATB? LDS doctrine isn't Christian fyi.
