It makes absolute sense to me that you don't get trophies for the endings of the game. It plays into the themes of it, especially of the genocide run. The idea that noone is forcing you to do this, and yet you do it anyways, inflict this kind of cruelty just for the sake of it. The game actually rewarding you for doing it would have really run counter to that aspect of it.
It's funny to see an achievement hunt for this game as there are no achievements on the Steam version (the only one I played). Glad you enjoyed at least half of the experience! It's one of my favorites, but I find that most goal-focused players miss one of its main themes, which is resetting. This game is enriched by resetting and redoing things like boss fights or story beats all over again (It works with dying too, but as you saw, some fights like Toriel's are almost impossible to die in, so resetting has to be a choice). I won't tell you to play it again, since you didn't like a big chunk of it. I also don't think Undertale fits an achievement hunter's play style and focus, and you have more games to play. If you're ever really really curious about anything of this game, just watch a video on it. There's plenty. Anyway, not used to commenting. Great video and hope you have fun with whatever game you play next!
The sad part about this to me is that neutral is honestly the least satisfying ending, there's very little there and that's done intentionally because of the themes and how Pacifist is structured, Pacifist is where all the story resolution happens, Geno has a very distinct vibe and challenging gameplay, neutral just...has very little to it, literally nothing unique, it's a shame, but with the strange way the game is structured, it just kinda happens I do genuinely recommend you play through again for pacifist, it's a broadly fantastic experience that helps with Hotland and Core's awkwardness
I love Undertale, but for a trophy hunt, this seems like a strange suggestion for people to make. 😅 It's not really a game that was built for that sort of thing, and you can tell Toby wasn't interested in trying considering he could have very easily assigned a trophy to each of the 26 endings (or to at least to the 2 major endings), but he didn't.
Toriel and Undyne might be the hardest bosses for a newer player to spare, so that's understandable... Toriel, you just have to not attack her for the duration of the battle (meanwhile she tells you to fight her), and due to Undyne actually having murderous intent, you flee whenever your Soul is red (Green prevents running) up until you reach a water dispenser to then hydrate Undyne. Papyrus also has an alternate strategy where losing to him enough times lets you skip the fight (which is actually faster than playing the whole fight out). Meanwhile, in terms of a 'pacifist playthrough', you can get away with killing Asgore (since Flowey would've just did it anyway), and Flowey at the end (sparing Flowey, actually a dozen of times because he's an asshole, just lets him tell you to date Undyne to start some side quests towards True Pacifist, but you can still do them after finishing him and booting up the last save).
Oh, bit disappointing to see platinum doesn't require the pacifists ending of even finishing the game.. I can maybe see why genocide isn't there. I agree some of the enemies are annoying to fight. And on genocide it's just brutal, I never got past undyne. Pacifist route is worth playing, there's a lot more things to do after beating omega flowey. You naming yourself triggered a small Easter egg, the enemy Aaron winked at you. Characters have some reactions if you try to use their names. Not sure if you knew 😄
Ooh, Undertale. Wonder what it has for the achievements, the dates in True Pacifist? Completing the different endings [though, another commenter noted that defeats the whole morality idea]? I'll look it up to get an idea before I get into the video... Half the achievements are just making donations to Toby's shrine, goddam. Feels like something he'd do, admittedly.
You miss so much not going through with the pacifist route. Should have restarted the second you killed our sweet cow mom Toriel. So much content and story!
It's funny how similar our playthrough/experience was with the game haha I completely agree that the second half gets a bit repetitive and weaker. And I agree with Flowey getting no mercy 😆😆 Overall it's a solid game, it just has it's weak points.
I tried completing this game about 3 times but I was doing a pirated version bc i was young and the time and didn't have money to buy it but every time I'd make any progress I would coincidentally virus my computer from other sources and have to do a factory reset and I'd lose my progress lol. then when I was actually gifted the game by a friend I never played it legally 😭 this makes me miss it so much though !!!
At this point, you're definitely going to get a million requests to finish the pacifist ending. I would agree with that sentiment, but only if you're willing to suffer through a replay of the entire game, (yes this includes Hotland .) Just thought I'd let you know what to expect before you commit to anything else.
I'm glad that I'm not the only one who killed Toriel and Undyne on my first playthrough of Undertale. Both characters way of not killing are not good designs, like they feel more like easter eggs you should know about prior to that rather than intuitive mechanic. Like I get it from lore, idea or even design point, but in terms of gameplay that really sucks. Hell, game literally teaches you how to kill both of them by accident, like it trolls on purpose. And what's worse - game kinda teases you on that, because if you spare Flowey you're allowed to get a gold ending after reload, but for a save like that nothing changes, because characters are missing. So you need to do a whole new playthrough. And sorry, I gave up on that. Game is fun, but not as fun to replay it a second time pretty much the same way right after finishing it, because you fell into game's trap. Storywise game is great. It has very good characters and great music for its type. And fights are fun. But it all makes for a game that's better to watch than play, at least for the first playthrough (the ammount of frustration I witnessed if I saw someone playing it for first time proves it kinda - and that's from people who at least knew that you don't have to use fight button at all and had moderators ready to spoil them solution if they got stuck).

not really one person made it- temmie was a big help
1:50 considering what he can become, not in the slightest is flowey adorable

are you planing on getting the other endings of the game? I highly recommend if your looking for extra content.
So glad to see a new video! Congrats on getting Platinum, I could never push myself to do it xD

Aaaaaand there's the OOF moment. 6:37

Nice I actually never played this game but I watched some gameplay of it and it was entertaining. There is also some fan games of this

Maybe a silly question to ask, do you ever platinum games on your stream that you personally enjoy?
I killed papyrus on my first playthrough and got so sad
wait is there a full playthru somewhere?
I don't remember seeing the characters you did as much in the pacifist run. The ending is really great but the final final boss is still the same.
