    Wow, you guys are a couple of brave souls getting out in a blizzard like that! Kellie is a certified Bad A for her snow driving skills over that narrow mountain pass!! That long stretch of road from Hawthorne to Bishop looks gorgeous, especially covered in snow. What an enjoyable adventure, and kudos to Kellie’s son for coming out to meet you guys. We got over a foot of snow here yesterday and it was delightful! Stay safe out there!

      Hi G! I like that, "Kellie is a certified Bad A"...that's great! Over a foot?! Wow! I bet Pup was running around ensconced in glee! We will stay safe but those Bad A's like Kellie could be risk takers at heart. Enjoy the winter!

    Sheeeesh Brother! You guys had me holding on tight to my couch with this adventure! Glad you decided to turn around and get a little closer to home before you got snowed in, sure doesn't take long for roads to close in a big storm, as I have found out to my chagrin. But little scrapes like this adventure are what can make for great memories! That look Kellie gave you gave me a laugh! Sure happy you guys are back home safe ! 🇺🇸

      Ha! That made me laugh! We want to make sure you hold on tight to your couch Dick, for safety's sake. I was a little disappointed as I was wanting to spend the night up on the mountain, if just for the thrill of it. It was 4' in the pinions up there this time last year. I had fun with this one my Brother!🇺🇸🫏

    What a great adventure⛷ you guys always take everything in stride... I learned a lot about the 167 and the 359 in a winter snowstorm... obviously that's not the way the trucks come into town ! I remember a sign on that road saying something to the effect of that snow plows do not run after dark. Bet you were happy to get back to your warm home sweet home

    This weather you are experiencing reminds me of a vacation trip to Pennsylvania one January where I had to stay at a
    motel overnight near the Interstate until morning. It was eventually plowed but they got 14" of snow that night. There were
    plenty of semis off to the side parked on the Interstate with sleeper cabs . I think I should have took a trip towards Florida instead! Yup, just bad planning. Nothing like a wintery weather outdoor adventure guys! Steve from balmy Chicago, IL BTW come Thursday they say it will be 55 degrees, wow! Weird Winter indeed.

      Hi Steve! Gee, you know, it sounds great up there in Chicagoland....being so warm and all. Perhaps we will take a nice winter vacation in Chicago to warm ourselves up a little and get out of this desert. I can see you have never forgotten your vacation to Pennsylvania...isn't it interesting how a little snow can make for such memories? Hope the heater worked in that motel!

    Great snowy adventure! Love 395 and 168/359 (like 168) is such a beautiful drive in the best weather, who knew it could look even more so covered in snow. I've not experienced that, yet. Thankfully, you two weren't left stranded. Those portable power charges are great, though. I'd recommend. I've not had to it for myself but have saved a few other stranded motorists and a biker with it.

    Oooo wee!! That was scary and exciting! Glad the car started! My son bought me a Viking Compact Power Pack (battery charger) which is taken on trips. I had a 2016 Honda Accord. The battery was dead when we got home from our trip to Yellowstone. Luckily, it was in my driveway.
    Hwy 395 sure looked a lot different in October when we drove down it. 😊
    Glad you’re both back home safe.

    WOW, that was quite the roadtrip! It must have been so beautiful, but also a bit nerve-wracking. I'm so happy you both got to get some winter sports in, on your outing. Traveling in those remote areas, while the snow is falling, is pretty adventurous, in my book. I was a wee bit anxious for you both, but you each took it in stride. I'm sorry Kellie's car was acting up, at the least opportune time. Her son seemed like a really, pleasant guy.🤗 Here's hoping all three of you got back to town, without any more troublesome, car issues... I'm so happy to know you had a delightful lunch, and delicious cookies. Thank you for taking us along, on your scenic, Winter roadtrip, Doug. Stay safe. 🌨🙏🏻❄️ ⛷️ 🏂🍪🏡👏🏻👏🏻

      Hello Rhonda! It kept us alert because we were both looking simultaneously to see where the road was and where it was not. Team work I tell you. I wanted to get closer to the Bighorns for you, but they were having absolutely none of it. We really wanted to get some exercise, and the chill kept us moving at a steady brisk pace. Hawthorne is very pleasant in the winter, but the mountains can be cool, fickle, and vindictive. As always, glad you came along with us Rhonda! 🍪❄️🐐

    • @CalNeva
      @CalNeva  8 місяців тому

      Hi Michelle, you have one sharp eye! Actually, if they were for instance, Huron, Bear Paw, Green Mountain or Alaska shoes that would be correct. However, in this case they are Ojibwe Tribe style from the Northern Midwest ...a style in which BOTH ends are pointed with tails. This is my first pair with this style, and I like them very well: they are fast, have good floatation, and track straight.

    We get some heavy snow at times up here in Azalea. $ mountain passes to go up and over and without all wheel drive I often couldn't make it up my driveway. I get very apprehensive driving in snow like you guys were in. I am very impressed with Kellies snow driving skills and being calm about it. Bravo Kellie! Your hiking stamina is well beyond mine as well! That kind of weather and conditions are stay at home with the wood stove weather for me. I sure enjoy watching you two do it though! Hats off to Kellies son for dropping everything to come help his mom! I would do the same! My mom is 86 and goes out in the snow in her jeep in stuff like that!
