Just bought the pit boss elite thanks! Would love some tips on what exactly the vst is. I'm new to smoking and would appreciate some tips an information.
It just controls the amount of smoke output. Lower the P setting the more the pit will smoke but then you will have more temp swings. I think I talked about it in my 1600 vs 1600 review?? Thanks for watching!
I have a Oklahoma Joe Rider 900. It sounds like i should be cleaning after each use and then deep cleaning the smoker after 3 cooks. Whats the difference between deep clean and what you show in the video?

Ricer thanks for the videos, been watching most of them! Had a question about adding smoke to the inside of a grill. I read and hear a lot of bbq guys talk about how an older smoker can be better than an identical newer one because of years of smoke baked into the steel, with that in mind would it make any sense to light some smoke tubes in my 2 week old pellet grill when I’m not using it just to bake some extra smoke into the steel? Or would that just be a waste of pellets? Just an idea that occurred to me, let me know your thoughts.
Waste of time if you ask me. I would just run it on smoke mode longer for each cook. A good seasoned pit is typically an offset IMO. But I never scrape down the chamber in my pellet grills unless the seasoning is starting to peel some. That will happen when you very the pit really hot or grill a lot on it. But if you want to add a smoke tube go for it, just going to add more smoke. Thanks for watching brother!
Great video! Curious why you wouldn't use aluminum foil covering up the pit and just toss and replace as needed. Is there a reason to let the plates get dirty?

Hahahah Victor that is what I was trying to relay in the thumbnail, bend over because it is time to get popped in the keister!! hahaha I actually had the swamp cooler on!!!!!! Stupid hot and muggy that day!!!! Ya bro it is the last task of having a successful cook, least amount of fun too!!!! hahaha Thanks for watching brother!!!!!!!!!
Excellent clean up!!! My new work horse Camp Chef!!! Great job brother 👍
Heck ya brother! I am hoping to get a camp chef to mess with real soon!! Thanks for watching brother and enjoy that pit!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ show how you do beer can chicken
I went to the website for the gloves and it didn't show any disposable gloves
Go to harbor freight. Best place to get gloves.
Hmmmm weird Mark because it works when I click on it?? Maybe copy paste it?? I will say they have some good pricing typically!!! Like always thanks for watching!!!
That is always the other place I get them but they never have black and I use black in my videos so I do not distractions in the video. Thanks for helping out Victor!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ interesting, I get both black and blue there. I like that they offer different thicknesses in the gloves. 5m is normally what I use. However I do like the 7m and 9m at times. I use gloves when handling lures and baits for salmon fishing. In the late winter/early spring it gets Damm cold outside fishing. The 9m really helps keep fingers warmer. Especially if you slip a chemical heater pack between the back of your hand and the glove. 👋
@@DeadBrokeBBQ it shows gloves but not the disposable gloves. I like to use them especially when handling hot peppers.
Your hired. Come on out to California, I have a few dirty pits for ya. 🤪 Great info for the people Ricer, Stay Cool Brother.
HAhahah ok Kenny but give me a little time to get over there! I got so much work to get done here first!!! ha ha I am glad I finally did this video because I get asked this question all the time!!! I appreciate you watching brother and I hope you are doing great yourself!!!
Defiantly going to invest in a welders brush.
Works great and super cheap!!! Just want to go over the grate with a rag so you make sure that there is no wire bristles! But again those are pretty thick and easy to spot!! Thanks for watching!!
GOOD INFO RICER , RULE OF THUMB MORE PITS MORE TO CLEAN LOL
Hahaha ya dude a never ending task around here!! Thanks for watching brother!!
Nice video it’s a little work but they run better when they are clean
Agree Mark!!! Plus nothing worse than watching a grease fire melt your pit!!!! hahahaa Thanks for watching brother and I hope all is good!!!
Now do the PB1150, that should kill a weekend.
Hahahaha ya dude it alway takes time!! Thanks for watching brother!!
Ya three cooks always works for me
Heck ya Luis!!! Thanks for watching brother!!!
My 11 year old nephew ended up “cleaning” my grill with a hose and water. Didn’t as much clean as it did ruin my igniters. 😢
Ouch!!!! If my nephew did that he would be sporting a new tan!!!! hahahaha
Thank you
Thanks for watching!
When it comes two cleaning my grades. I am team foil ball. Got to admit that shiney stainless pit looks better than the high price Traeger
I use foil balls on my kettle all the time too!! Ya bro I am lean towards the Elite over the Timberline myself! The Traeger has some wild temp swings so far! I hope the PID can get a little smarter soon!! Thanks for watching brother!!
@@DeadBrokeBBQ I just wished that Pit boss would have a controller with 5 increments. I love my Pit Boss P2 1000 thinking about getting the extension for it .
@@markhejl3104 I have one! Look up the Pit Boss 1250 Competition and 1600 Competition Series. The new PID controller has 5 degree increments, and also wi-fi and Bluetooth. With the app, I watched and controlled my grill from church one Sunday. I was a few miles away!
Lol. That’s my bi weekly cleaning. The deep cleaning breaks out the power tools. I am not a professional but I use min 4-5 days every week. My stove has almost no use. My 13 year old daughter bakes her chocolate cakes on my Boss. Haha
Perfect!! The more you clean it the better! Thanks for watching!!
Cover the Pit Boss heat shield with aluminum foil and you're done in 5 minutes
Awesome I got 7 Pit Boss's once all of them are dirty i will have you come over and clean them all in 35 minutes! hahaha
I always dread cleaning my smoker and BBQs! It’s so dirty and messy!
YA but it is part of the game I guess!!! That is why I typically have my boys do it!!!! hahahaha Thanks for watching!
Said nothing about the pellet drive
I never clean that out---why??? Go for it is you want to remove the auger or pick away with a coat hanger. hahaha If you pellet grill needs the auger cleaned out, it is time for a new pellet grill.
Get your kids to do it.
Hahahah ya they typically do! Thanks for watching!
Never, Never EVER USE STEEL BRISTLE BRUSHES! If a bristle gets in someone's gut it is a DISASTER!
Meh I wipe down as you saw after using my welding brush with a rag. Those bristles are large and easy to see but I have never had one fall out because I buy a new brush every few months anyways.
Just another reason to never get a trager.. so much more crap to pull out and clean 🤦
Ya and all this extra crap doesn't help it control the temp difference from left or right anymore than the Elite either. It is actually worse with the temp swings than all of the other pits I have ran this year to be honest.
