13:49 “she ate” or “she chewed” is taken from Black American English. It’s from an old standard phrase “ate them up” as in insulted somebody well OR looked/did better than everyone else. I don’t like how “she ate” sounds so I don’t use it but it has nothing to go with actual food. it’s a metaphor for making someone disappear or wish they could.
Yes! And with the right inflection, you can absolutely tell that you're not talking about food. 😁

My mom died the day after Halloween and always have loved that she died on All Saints’ Day !
All Saints day for catholic Italians is going to church but, when we woke up the passed souls left different pastries and cookies and change for the kids. Ughhhhh ghosts buying pastries and cookies! 😂 only Italians have to make everything about food😅❤

As a mother with an addict son & daughter, one to drugs and alcohol and the daughter I can’t bring myself to think about anymore 💔
There can be redemption from addiction whereas losing people’s trust with something like kleptomania there’s no coming back.
My son, since he cleaned up his act quite a bit but is now a high (no pun intended) functioning addict has won back most of his friends and half his family. I find it’s his friend’s parents who can’t forgive & forget but you’re right, people DO regard addicts differently.
Even me, with all of that going on in my family, have a dear friend who when we were both trying to raise kids on our own with no financial assistance from the children’s fathers, made a pact that we’d always help out each other financially if we ever won the lottery.
Last year I came into quite a bit of money and will be comfortably financially for the rest of my life STILL haven’t sent her any money.
After her son died from a heroin overdose she became a gambling addict. She even stole a stranger’s bag so she could gamble more.
I’m loath to send money because I know it will just be gambled & spent on alcohol. Instead I gave it to our only hospice.
I wish I lived closer so I could do for her what I used to do and anonymously leave bags of good food at her door
or pay some bills.

not really lol i mean every generation has it's catch phrases. dont be mad youve aged out of using current catch phrases and now are in your "i walked to school up hill no shoes in the snow" phase haha "she ate" has been around for a while haha but it did start from "she left no crumbs behind" like didnt leave anything left, didn't leave a trace or any tips or tricks or leads for anyone trying to come after them and do the same thing or try and be better.
