Smooth drummer.Very little body movement. His hands and the sticks did all the talking. Left handed snare roll...verrrry impressive. The tempo did not fluctuate at all. Nice to see him play his solo with dynamics. Awesome talent!
I watched this over a dozen times and just love this guy. His drive (push), feel, and taste along with the attack he has on the drums is exceptional. He obviously loved Buddy Rich but plays his own way. This guy is right up there with The Best, BRAVO!
There are not many drum solo's I can listen too as inevitably they loose the rhythm of the tune. Not this guy as he carry's it seamlessly and you to the end. A hidden gem of a recording that allows you to hear the drummer and to appreciate his brilliance, I never tire of listening to this, thanks.
I have had a fascination for drumming for years. I watch all of Roger’s videos. What an amazing drummer this guy is. A true master of his art. The band isn’t bad either!! Lol.
Excellent ,smooth, right in the pocket drummer, great how he builds up the intensity on the solo.and then trows in all these diffrent chops.Makes me want to practice so I can be half as good before I die.
Terrific! Not just technique and style but musicianship and a splendid tone as well. Lovely contrasts in the solo and a tom sound that seems close to Krupa. Wish I could study with you!
Oh my goodness! I'v watched about every version of this song by every great drummer and this is about the sickest drum version ever. It starts out a bit understated as if it's just about the music then he proceeds to blow the mind. This guy is tight as hell. Who is he? and to think I almost didn't click on this video. Win for me.
@rogerbergbigband Uh maaaaaaaaaaaaan!!! I'm so happy I found this video... That's some very serious material. You sure spent remarkable amount of your valuable time and talent on studying Mr. Rich's "wonderfullnes"! and... you came as close as it gets i think! I'm blown away I''m a BB drummer myself and know what we are talking about... ONCE more! THATS MIND BLOWING! Great JOB! I sure will come back to your videos with joy! THANK YOU!!!
Try tapping 8th notes with your left foot, now fourths and the occasional double kick with your right foot, now play pretty much every single rudiment in the book at 230+BPM while keeping each foot exactly in time. You now have the amount of talent as one of this drummers finger nails.
Roger. A lot of bands don't do justice to "Sing, Sing, Sing". It's a little "tricky" to play well. Your band and YOU are outstanding!!!! I think your style is a mixture of Buddy and Gene.
@rogerbergbigband i have to say though - some of those licks i've heard from BR's solos - brilliantly played. you've got the frantic edge but still supremely controlled. The white jacket helps too, hahaha!
Yes, we play as much as possible. Concerts, Gala Shows, Swing Dance Events... You can see more at our FB page if you wish... Just search for our band name!
@yamashi2222 Thank you! Very nice of you to think so. However, It's not possible to even come close to Buddy; he has a unique combination of everything a real drummer needs, but he SURE IS the greatest source of inspiration! :-)
I wouldn't say it "sucks" but it does not compare to the original. They're using saxophones for as an intro instead of trumpets. They're using a guitar. The drummer changed the arrangement up. He's very skilled but not playing the original. But I would love to see Gene Krupa and him in a drum off. The final nail being, NO CLARINET! Good but does not compare to the original.
8th notes the whole time on hi hat with quarter note bass drum and his solo takes the best ive ever seen for this song ;O im in love

Thank you. You're very kind!
Roger Berg. Den bästa trummisen vi har i Sverige och Norden. Han är helt sanslöst bra.

Fantastic X 100 !! COOOOOL
Roger. You really swing man.
Great chops too.
Congratulations

Now, thats a cool drummer! Kudos!

I’ve watch this song a thousand time from another thousand big bands..
But no one was that crazy on the Hi-Hat
Nice job.
Wow grooving! Love it!
awesome how you can hum the song in your head along with the drum solo. Good job!
great drummer!!!

Har i dag, 17. april 2016 - hørt og oplevet denne..... Jeg blev ellevild med den.... wow engang trommesolo ......
+Anne Lise Nielsen Tack så mycket Anne!

Drummer is a champion
Beautiful drumming!!!!!

this guy is an animal.....
Tack, kära du! :-)
nice nice and nice
@metachozoite It's a 20" A Zildjian Rock Ride. It's been with me a couple of years now. :-)
Slingerland, with a Noble & Cooley snare drum.
Now that's drumming!
Now this is my idea of a great player (drummer).
Thank you, Warren! 🙏🏻 ☺️
@rogerbergbigband
Thanks for awnsering ^^
@yamashi2222 Thank you! Very nice of you to think so.

@woutdegroot This is a chart without the original clarinet part. We have another chart now which is much closer to the BG original.
That looks like Buddy's kit!!!
one Slingerland drums
Saw alot of buddy rich in that solo, yes?
I am also playing drums in Japan. Although it is not skillful.
If I could ask my favorite drummer I would answer like this. "Roger Berg"
@rogerbergbigband Its the closest thing I've seen to Mr. Rich. Did you ever study or collaborate w/him?
like Buddy Rich!!!
He just saw a fly, and wanted to kill it... with a stick!
And BTW - whith planet is he from? o_O
I like the original arrangement much better, but that guy kills on drums. Dynamite chops and wonderful playing.
The swedish Buddy Rich
where's the clarinet?
which drum set is it? :)
Total ownage!!! Best there is in big band style drumming
no clarinet, but there is a sax battle.
Gene Krupa would be proud.
@brakatt trolololol

Too fast. Fast is not better.
Hat mit Sing,Sing,Sing nicht viel zu tun !-Drummer schon gar nicht !!!
